The Nadaturan economy was still strong despite the current situation unfolding in the Pacific. The main thing for the government was that the economic situation stayed strong and expansion was a priority. However, the trade with the Philippines was terminated until the crisis was over and relations could be normalised.

Relations with the United States had been strained but were still strong. Legally and morally Nadatua was in the right, with world opinion seemingly opposed to the Philippine attack. The main goal was to politically isolate the Philippines and make them aware that their actions were heading them into trouble.

The 2nd Marine Brigade finishes redeployment to Guam and is placed in readiness, with the 1st Marine Brigade being in situ to the Marianas on Anaconda (Tarawa) Class Amphibious Assault Ships (NNS Anaconda] and Fortress (Wasp) Class Amphibious Assault Ship NNS Fortress, with the rest by air.

Project #003 - Low-Cost Tactical Fighter Bomber

This project is to create a new low-cost Tactical Fighter Bomber for missions of close air support and suppression of enemy positions.

The airframe that has been chosen is the F-4J Phantom airframe but modernised with avionics and engines currently installed in the F-15C Eagle Multi-Role Fighters in service. It is expected to be manufactured for service with only munitions for ground attack and not used to air to air combat.

There is expected to be planned at least an intital production run of seventy once a test frame is built.

Project #001 - New BMD-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle Variant update

First prototype completed. New specification with the following:

This prototype is more similar to a BMD-3 in chassis appearance.

The 2A42 multi-purpose autocannon has been removed, with the planned slightly larger designed turret though armed with an SM-10 100mm Rifled Gun. It has a coaxial M2 Browning Heavy Machine Gun and on top of the turret a 9K115 Metis Anti Tank Missile System.

The addition of ERA armour packets on the front has been dismissed. Armour is welded aluminium armour with a composite skin to maintain a light weight. Through the frontal arc, 45° left and right of the frontal armour provides protection against attack from 23mm weapons at 500 m (550 yds) and against small arms fire and shell splinters through the remainder of the vehicle.] Two banks of three smoke-grenade dischargers are mounted towards the rear on each side of the turret as countermeasures to infrared weapons.

Replacement of the engine from 15.9-litre diesel of 241bhp to a 400bhp diesel engine.

Crew Capacity is three and the passenger compartment is converted and reinforced with additional armour to store ammunition safely and reduce the threat of penetration to this area.

It can reach a top speed of 65 kilometres per hour (40 mph) on an even road; the average speed being 42 to 45 km/h (26-31 mph) when driving off-road. Weight is eighteen tonnes.


Testing was expected to be until the new year at least.

All units are separated and reformed as Brigades and size is expanded exponentially, with eight thousand combat soldiers per Mechanised and Motorised Infantry Brigade.

Armoured Divisions - Three Divisions are reorganised into Six Armoured Brigades of Eighty Main Battle Tanks per Brigade.

Mechanised Brigades - Five Divisions reorganised and strength expanded to Eighteen Mechanised Brigades totalling One Hundred and Twenty Combat Soldiers

Motorised Infantry Brigades - Twelve Motorised Infantry Divisions reorganise and strength expanded to Thirty Motorised Infantry Brigades totalling Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Combat Soldiers

Mixed Infantry Brigades - Their strength is increased from Five to Eight Thousand Soldiers per Brigade. The number of Brigades increased from Ten to Fifteen totalling One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Combat Soldiers

Air Assault Brigades increased strength to eight thousand soldiers and two more Air Assault Brigades are to be created. This would mean the strength of Twenty Four Thousand Combat Soldiers. Equipment would soon also be added to increase each Brigade's firepower.

Artillery Brigades increased from Six to Nine

Heavy Artillery Battalions increased from Three to Five.

Anti Air Batallions increased from Seven to Fifteen.

All Thee Divisions are separated and reformed as Brigades and size is expanded exponentially, with eight thousand combat soldiers per Brigade.

Project #004 - Aerial Cruise Missile Carrier

This project is a potential boost for the Nadatuan Air Force's long-range standoff strike capability. This is technically a revival of an idea tried by the United States military in the late 1970s/early 1980s. The aircraft would be utilised in missions that need a mobile platform for the deployment of cruise missiles and increase the range of these weapons through the aircraft's long-range capability.


Potential aircraft that could be the base is a Nadaturan-built Boeing 747-400F Cargo Aircraft with modifications

Internal Bay is to be modular in design for many mission types:

- A two-bay rotary launcher carrying new variant Air-Launched Tomahawk Cruise Missiles
- A four-bay rotary launcher to carry Kh-55 Air-Launched Cruise Missiles
- A thirty-bay rack release launcher to carry AGM-130 Air-to-Ground Guided Missiles
- A fifty-bay rack release launcher to carry AGM-84 Harpoon Block IC Anti Ship Missiles

Belly Bay Door along the length of aircraft to allow missiles to leave
Electronic Warfare suite and on board Missile Control command centre

This project is to start immediately with construction of ten airframes to begin.

Nadaturan Senate passes the Oil and Fracking Mandate 2004 which legalises the use of fracking to get oil and gas pockets in the Nadaturan homeland. Oil production will also be slightly increased for three months to help global oil prices.

With testing proving promising, a production run of sixty vehicles is to be made for use with the Air Assault Brigades of the Nadaturan Army.



Project #002 – A B-52 Stratofortress Strategic Bomber Modernisation

The prototype is under construction for flight testing. A new version of the jet engine used on US Air Force aircraft is to be placed on the prototype. It is expected to be placed into full production by the latter end of 2005.



Chemical Weapons Programme underway has managed to produce some canisters of Chlorine and Phosgene Gas. This has been safely stored and is expected to never be used.

Research is already underway on Tabun. Countermeasure to Chemical Warfare agents research also is progressing.

A massive drive to increase school standards has already seen a vast increase in exam result levels, with the funding of schools being increased, pledged to take place in the next budget.

Nadatura today announced the closure of its ports and airports to Philippine goods and passengers. All Philippine nationals are to be expelled and Nadaturans are urged to leave as soon as possible.

Project #005 - RT-2PM Topol Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

This project is made possible by the kind release of the blueprints of the missile and launcher by the Russian Federation as part of a recent sale of military technology blueprints. The missile is to be deployed in small numbers, with a view to eventually carry a nuclear warhead for strategic defence.

An initial build of ten mobile launchers and thirty missiles is to be made.

Nadatura and Japan today signed the Treaty of Osaka which gives favourable prices and tariffs between the two countries. The treaty also solidifies strong diplomatic relations.

Nadatura has today announced a formal claim to the Federal States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands amidst reports of sudden economic turmoil in those areas. It has been supported by the United States with President Bush calling it “a fair claim to bring stability to the region.”

It has been rejected by several nations including the Philippines and Indonesia, but the latter has cited it would withdraw its objections if given a reasonable justification for the areas to become Nadaturan territory.

The Nadaturan Ambassador to Indonesia is expected to meet the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to state Nadatura's case.

The top secret facility had been ordered to start a nuclear weapons project, and a vast increase of funding had immediately been funnelled into the project. It had been by this point gone on for a month with the basic information gleaned from public sources about the Manhattan Project being useful to give a jump start of at least a year,

The project was to as soon as possible bring Nadatura's status as a nuclear power and cement the country's position as a regional power. The scientists on the project were mainly focusing on implosion devices as it would be the stepping stone to further research and development.

It would still be some time before any viable device was made.

Project #002 – A B-52 Stratofortress Strategic Bomber Modernisation


The B-52 Stratofortress Strategic Bomber test frame has passed its trials. It is based on the H model used by the US Air Force but with upgrades. It has a newer turbofan engine and updated avionics with a bomb bay which is modular for multiple mission types. It has been designated the B-52N Strategic Bomber, dropping the ‘Stratofortress’ designation.

The first ten aircraft are completed and being delivered, with seventy confirmed planned.

Brief Fling with Monarchy Over

Today the monarchical experiment in Nadatura ended after evidence of a planned coup to bring absolute monarchy to the country came to light.

The now former king has been arrested and Nadatura will revert back to a Presidential Democracy with the Prime Minister returning to the restored role of President. The role of the Prime Minister is abolished.

The now former queen has denounced any involvement with the coup and has also renounced all titles. She is cooperating with the investigation.

Several other suspects are currently being questioned and so far no official statements have been made.

The country has been renamed the United Federation of Nadatura.

Nadaturan Ambassador to Australia signs an Economic Cooperation Treaty which brings the two countries into closer ties after some months of negotiation.

Nadatura and Japan have signed a Mutual Defence Treaty and Economic Cooperation Treaty. Rumours are circulating that Nadatura will be designing new equipment for the Japanese Self Defence Forces, but these are yet to be confirmed. Nadaturan government sources say that the new partnership is a culmination of many weeks of talks.

Nadaturan Foreign Affairs Office has received a formal complaint from the Indonesian government yet again over the Nadaturan presence in the Philippines. The diplomatic note has urged Nadatura to withdraw immediately.

There have been rumours that Indonesia could take military action, though the Indonesian government has denied that these rumours are true. Nadatura had sent a communique to the Indonesian government stating that any military action would be met with a severe response.

There was a new conference underway between the United Federation of Nadatura and the Peoples Republic of China over who will have control of the Spratly Islands. The conference is expected to be a cordial one, with the chance of a formal agreement on who will be awarded them. There have been some early signs that negotiations are going well, with the conference expected to last several days.

Nadaturan Strategic Strategy is to change with a new effort to reinforce the Philippines, with a view to create a Philippine Army under Nadaturan command.
The plan was to reemploy former soldiers who served in the previous regime and they swear a new oath to serve Natura. It was to be modestly equipped and would have the only role to defend the Philippines.


Also there was to be a modernisation programme in the Nadaturan Army, with older equipment to be replaced by more modern weapons. The need for a replacement to the T-72B1 Main Battle Tank in service is a pressing one.

Natural Defence Systems would be tasked to create new local variants of weapons and equipment. Plus a need to export Nadaturan military goods will mean some equipment would be for export only.

Nadaturan's political goal was to build new relationships and become a serious world power. The United States was a crucial partner, but there was to be a drive to become less dependent on their military aid.

China was a country to keep friendly ties with, though their expansionist goals had to be closely monitored as there was a possibility that they could try to interfere with Nadaturan control over the Philippines.

A recommendation to openly deploy Ballistic Missile systems to the area has been made to show Nadatura is not a country to bully. The imminent nuclear test will also demonstrate that any attack on the country would invite a harsh retaliation.

There was frenetic activity as on Guam the Nadaturan Air Force B-52N Strategic Bomber was outfitted with the test device. It was expected to reach a yield of ten kilotons, with the detonation point being four hundred kilometres northwest of Guam.

As it took off just after six am, the Nadaturan government would send a secret communique to the United States government informing them of the test.

Over the test zone, the sea was quiet and the sky was just beginning to grow brighter. But then there was a second sun in the sky as the device exploded.

Moments later, the distinctive mushroom cloud rose, signalling that Nadatura was now in the exclusive club of nuclear nations.

The reaction to the test was mostly one of surprise and even some condemnation. The Nadaturan position of defensive use was made, which would ease many fears of the neighbours.

But with the crisis in Asia between Russia and China, this test was for some an ill timed venture. The explosion had reminded people that the current crisis could reach that stage, but it seemed that neither country was going to back down.

The Nadaturan Senate today has passed a law which has effectively halted any rise in interest rates. It is a package of measures which include investment in the financial sector of a hundred and fifty million Nadats, plus new punishments for insider trading.

Nadaturan government has announced the beginning of a new social policy which will move to a British-style Health Service and the end of the badly liked pay per need system. At least a hundred million Nadats is to be invested to update current hospitals and build new ones. Recruitment on a large scale will take place.
