Competing Nations were 'randomly' drawn into the following teams and required to put forth one athlete to represent their nation on the team. All 5 teams competed against each other in a 30 minute single open world Underwater Lazer Tag playing field.

Despite having fewer total tags than the Essential Team, Team A was had the most timely Flag takeovers and it was enough to put their point total over the top. As the four-player Team A celebrated what they thought was their triumph in the Underwater Lazer Tag competition, the soon learned the twist of the tournament - and the reason why their entire contingent of athletes was requested to be on hand and available for competition. The open world competition was just a warmup for the final showdown.

As the four nations who comprised the winning team, Aquacorp, Audioslavia, Austailia and Avorago would now have to suit up with all three of their athletes in a final showdown with only three medals on the line meaning one nation would be left off the scoreboard. We might have found the type of event we're actually good at. Who knew that after years, decades, or even centuries of laying low, Ko-orenite cuisine is at the forefront of the region? That's with Cobrio organising the Cook-Off, and with the Spice-Off about to kick off in Krytenia. We never rated our own cooking, but maybe it's time to market it to the rest of Anaia and beyond. Or maybe people just figured out that it's not just cakes and desserts that can be sweet. There's no reason why the main course can't also be sweet. Looking at it that way, maybe the Spice-Off isn't going to be our event after all. There are some spicy dishes in eastern Surbourneshire, Finisterre, and Leleia, but our selected athletes wouldn't have a lot of experience with those.

A sport we'll have to start taking seriously in the future is tennis. Individual sports are few and far between in Ko-oren, orienteering being a rare exception, but maybe there's a place for them after all. Smith plays the first set, then Mulvahil plays the second, and Wilson plays the third if necessary. Smith has been destructive in his time, winning seven of his nine sets (only losing to Avorago 6-1 and Eselagel 6-3). Mulvahil won five out of nine. Wilson is 2-2 in his sets. Overall, the team is 6-3, which means that they lost only one match in the first two sets without Wilson getting a chance. The winning percentage per player matches our expectations, so I think they nailed the order. With their superior set differential, the three will play Martagne in the first ever Anaian tennis final.

Other events coming up: Coo Runnings. Two gastronomical challenges in the Spice-Off and Competitive Beverage Prep and Service. Gwaregata Flammenniñ, an archery event that provided the Karodinians with equal amounts of food and forest fires. Privateering, where Smith will operate the gun (with his experience of hitting small objects from far away as a cricket pacer) and the other two will have to do most of the work in getting the boat through the course. Somewhat later there's the Semaphore Bee - probably the event best suited to be played along at home - and the Friendship Celebration, which is some sort of competitive closing ceremony... and to be honest, every attempt at a higher placement in this event will seem like pandering at best and bribery at worst.

I mean, the president of Ko-oren could invite every competitor to a state dinner after the conclusion of FLAGS... but that feels like a cheap attempt at forcing friendships. We're looking for people forGing friendships, not forCing them. To the youth of Space Laser Dinosaur Robot Pirate Land (and we know that's the entire population of the place): there's your alphabet lesson of the day. C and G might look alike but are very different.

Snowfall: Light. As such, all roads between Bogdan's Beef Byproducts Ltd and the Red Monument have been iced. Competitors have been advised to steer clear of the myriad waist-high stone walls lining the cobbled roads, and to attempt not to trespass the fireworks factory, the tar manufacturer, the museum of fletchery, the funhouse hall of mirrors, many winding staircases and the sheer four-hundred foot drop above Crazy Eddy's Emporium of Trampolines, Bouncy Castles And Dangerous Stalagmites.

The Spice-Off

HOW IT WORKS: Contestants will be pitted against each other one-on-one in a contest of who can hold their heat by eating progressively hotter chilli peppers until one metaphorically blinks by either refusing a chilli or reaching for their drink. Each contestant will participate in six rounds.

And so we reach the final day of the Festival of Local Anaian Games and Sports! A cultural exchange for the ages, in which many nations have laughed, joked, and cried together. I hope that all of you have enjoyed yourselves!

Note: Each Team had 3 Flags which could be taken and defended by any opposing team. A player tagged while transporting a flag had to drop the flag at the spot of the tag.

Points for Underwater Lazer Tag were awarded as follows:

[F] 5 Pts for successful capture and retention of an opponents flag at your teams home base (awarded at conclusion of round)

The four nations who comprised the winning team in the Filtering Round, Aquacorp, Audioslavia, Austailia and Avorago squared off with all three of their athletes in a final showdown with only three medals on the line meaning one nation was left off the podium... Or so it would seem. Four flags went unclaimed at the end of the round with two having been successfully re-stolen and 2 having never made it to an opposing base. The Final Table:

And with that, the Festival of Local Anaian Games and Sports comes to an end. In an illustrious ceremony, the competitors from every team that gained a medal are given a commemorative ribbon, a box of interesting cultural trinkets from a variety of Anaian nations, and a pat on the back from many of their new found friends. The delegation that received the most gold medals, Ko-oren, was declared the winner of the Festival, and was presented with the Anaian Unity Crown, an ornate crown made from an Anaian green polished stone (Serpentine? Jade? Whatever floats your boat), and adorned with deep purple gems. The parties continued deep into the night, with the promise that we could all go back to Ko-oren's place, grab a Crazy Craig's, and crash on their sofa until the morning.
