Saterun A-Liga: Season 1

The inaugural A-Liga of Saterun kicked off quickly, and the teams instantly started classics. Dazzling displays came from some expected titans, like Mieteng City and Anasb FC. But Ajac Football Club had a wild run early on, winning their first five games. Eventually, however, the season started to flatten out to the expectations. Midway through, the tide started to shift. Tsear FC started to run away with it. They secured the crown on the second-to-last matchday with a victory at home against Sandre FC. They had also secured a IFCF Champions' league spot. But there was still things to fight for. The IFCF Challengers' Cup spots were very much up for grabs, and it took the final matchday to settle them.

Final Table

Pos Team Pts W D L GD Pld
1. Tsear FC 65 21 2 7 +32 30 IFCF Champions' League Q
2. Anasb FC 59 19 2 9 +15 30 IFCF Challengers' Cup Q
3. Futsworth United 52 16 4 10 +1 30 IFCF Challengers' Cup Q
4. Mieteng City FC 51 15 6 9 +13 30 IFCF Challengers' Cup Q
5. Qeuthun FC 48 14 6 10 +10 30
6. Real Anasb FC 45 14 3 13 +7 30
7. Ajac Football Club 44 13 5 12 +11 30
8. Daxler AFC 43 13 4 13 +3 30
9. FC Coppola 42 13 3 14 -1 30
10. Xaiv FC 40 11 7 12 -1 30
11. Albery FC 39 11 6 13 -3 30
12. Ias Club Football 37 10 7 13 -12 30
13. Sandre FC 36 10 6 14 -10 30
14. Haleer FC 35 11 2 17 -17 30
15. Tsear AC 29 8 5 17 -17 30
16. FC Wonghia 17 3 8 19 -31 30

So Tsear was colored red this season. FC topped the league, while AC almost rocked the bottom. Real Anasb also severely underperformed. They missed an expected Challengers' Cup appearance. Thiago Esparza of Tsear FC won the golden boot, and Mitzinho of Mieteng City won Player of the Year. Anasb FC did much better than expected, and much better than their rivals. With the first season wrapped up, it was time for the Copa Nacional.

Copa Nacional 1

With the conclusion of the A-Liga, it was only right that Saterun's national cup should begin. The fixtures for the Copa Nacional were drawn completely at random, with no seeding involved. The final will be at the 67,500 seater Sultan Arena in Tsear.

Round of 16
Tsear AC 2-1 Real Anasb FC
Daxler AFC 4-2 Xaiv FC
FC Coppola 1-2 Futsworth United
Mieteng City FC 1-2 Haleer FC
Ajac Football Club 3-2 Qeuthun FC
Ias Club Football 1-2 Albery FC
Anasb FC 1-2 Sandre FC
FC Wonghia 1-3 Tsear FC

There were upsets galore in the first round of the Copa Nacional. Several lower seeds, such as Tsear AC, Sandre FC, and Haleer FC were able to push past some of the regular season titans. Mieteng and both Anasbs lost matches they should have won. No team completely shut out its opponent, and Daxler topped the scoring charts with 4 goals in a 6-goal thriller against Xaiv. Even though the matches weren't seeded, 16th place in the season ended up playing 1st. Guess how that went for poor FC Wonghia.

Quarterfinals
Tsear AC 3-1 Futsworth United
Tsear FC 3-2 Haleer FC
Sandre FC 0-2 Daxler AFC
Albery FC 2-0 Ajac Football Club

Shockingly, Tsear AC continued its unfancied run by beating Futsworth United. They also did it quite convincingly. On the other side of Tsear, TFC continued its run of easy opponents. Haleer finished 14th in the season. But both times, Tsear FC only won by one goal. How long would they be able to narrowly beat minnows? Daxler also came away with a clean win at Sandre, and Albery got another upset win against Ajac. Something was in the air. Most people in the country, and certainly everybody in Tsear, had noticed that the two teams of the former capital could meet in the semi-finals. Or, even spicier, they could meet in the final. Tsear had been definitely red in the season, but could AC dethrone them?

Semifinals
Tsear AC 3-0 Daxler AFC
Albery FC 0-2 Tsear FC

The stage was set. Both sides in Tsear had won their semi-final matchups. It was about to get real. It was poetic. Two teams, from the same city, with very different levels of success in the season. And their final match of the inaugural season was to be played in front of 67,500 people. Sultan Stadium was completely sold out. It was a neutral venue, and had hosted Women's World Cup/Jenna Raven Cup group stage matches. But it had never been this full.

Final
Tsear FC 1-2 Tsear AC

And so the great titans of Saterun club football had been overthrown. AC had had a terrible season, finishing much lower than expected. But this justified it all. A piece of historic silverware, and an entrance in the Cup Winners' Cup. Poetic.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 2

It was time. The second season of Saterun football's top domestic tier was underway. Tsear FC were looking to defend their title, while everyone else was trying to knock them off their perch. With an STV deal worth a reported §20 million and a massive §55 million partnership deal from Royal Aquaculture, the league was infused with new money. This was going to be good.

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Real Anasb 30 22 5 3 72 31 +41 71 IFCF Champions' League Q

5 Futsworth United 30 16 4 10 33 31 +2 52 VCI Q
6 Anasb FC 30 15 5 10 47 39 +8 50
7 Tsear AC 30 13 7 10 42 36 +6 46
8 Qeuthun FC 30 11 10 9 44 30 +14 43
9 Ias Club Football 30 12 5 13 46 50 -4 41
10 Oceanico 30 10 6 14 39 55 -16 36
11 FC Coppola 30 7 9 14 40 57 -17 30
12 Haleer Phoenix FC 30 6 11 13 42 57 -15 29

14 Albery FC 30 8 3 19 33 53 -20 27
15 Ajac Football Club 30 5 7 18 41 66 -25 22
16 Wonghia Saint-Lupain 30 5 5 20 37 83 -46 20

And so it was. Tsear had an end-of-season slump that knocked them out of the titel race, and Real Anasb captured the title with room to spare. It was quite different than last season, with the previous top two teams ending 4th and 6th. The other side of Tsear had noticeable improvement, however, as AC finished 7th. As usual, Wonghia Saint-Lupain finished last, with Ajac having a horror show of a season to end up just above them.

With the conclusion of the A-Liga, it was only right that Saterun's national cup should begin. The fixtures for the Copa Nacional were drawn completely at random, with no seeding involved. The final will be at the 76,000 seater Sultan Arena in Tsear.

Round of 16
Albery FC 5-0 Ias Club Football
Daxler AFC 1-0 Oceanico
Real Anasb FC 2-1 Ajac Football Club
Wonghia Saint-Lupain 2-3 Futsworth United
FC Coppola 0-4 Mieteng City
Anasb FC 2-0 Tsear AC
Qeuthun FC 2-1 Xaiv 1919
Tsear FC 2-0 Haleer Phoenix FC

The first round lived up to expectations. Defending cup champions Tsear AC lost soundly to Anasb, and Albery destroyed Ias 5-0. There were rather few upsets, but Qeuthun managed to sneak past Xaiv 1919.

Quarterfinals
Daxler AFC 0-3 Tsear FC
Qeuthun FC 0-1 Albery FC
Real Anasb FC 2-0 Mieteng City
Futsworth United 3-1 Anasb FC

Two high-profile clashes marked the second round, with the higher-finishing team winning both. The winning defenses were watertight, with the losing teams scoring a total of 1 goal. Three giants were left, and one Albery FC.

Semifinals
Real Anasb FC 2-1 Albery FC
Tsear FC 1-0 Futsworth United

Not much separated the team of the semis, and Albery was second time unlucky. They had made it to the semifinals of both editions but ended their journey there both time. But the stage was set for the biggest match in Saterun club history.

Final
Real Anasb FC 1-3 Tsear FC

Tsear had managed to finally nab the Copa Nacional. They lost it last year, but didn't make the same mistake twice. Although their season had derailed towards the end, one final run of form gave them the trophy. Any team getting the league and cup double would have to wait, as, for a second straight season, the league champions had lost in the final of the Copa Nacional.

Season Preview

Although they had come second in the league, Saterun's most successful club closed out last season on a high note. Tsear FC did have to work for it, however, as penalties showed. Mieteng was a tough opponent, and will undoubtably come back stronger. Futsworth United managed to clinch some silverware, and will be looking to build off of and defend their title. Anasb FC will be licking their wounds and looking ahead, ready for a proper challenge. Xaiv 1919, aided by a renovated ground and some of the league's best atmosphere, will look to return to the heights of two seasons ago. All of these teams will be battling for the title. The league administration has also completely overhauled international transfer regulations that have blocked many possible transfers over the past three seasons. Both Tsear FC and Futsworth have already made free agent signings from abroad. Hopefully, an international transfer market will even out the league. Maybe it will make the divisions even starker as the richer clubs buy even better players. Whatever else happens, there will certainly be some magic this season. Who knows? Maybe, finally, Wonghia Saint-Lupain won't come dead last for the fourth season running.

First Half

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts

First Half Review

After the first 16 matches, Tsear FC seemed to be mounting a strong title challenge, to absouletely no one's surprise. Futsworth had had a miserable start to their title defence. 22 points from 16 games is not good, and far off Tsear's 43. On the deep end of the table, Coppola was also having a uncharacteristaclly bad season. They had overacheived massively in the first season of the A. Liga, but then started to slide back to reality. But dead last? Unthinkable. Current overachievers this season include Wonghia Saint-Lupain and Qeuthun FC. The former, at 10th after 16 games, seemed to be on track for a historic season. Xaiv 1919 were hoping to recover from a dismal 6th last campaign, with new Xannerian national Paul Gessecki leading the way. Henry Garcia Valenci has gotten off firing, with 14 goals.

Season Review

Tsear FC managed to hold on to their title, earning a record 72 points are their way to doing so.It was well earned, marked out by a 5-0 hammering of rivals Tsear AC and several other 5- or 6-goal victories. They also had an incredibly challenging end of season, playing Real Anasb, Anasb FC, Futsworth United, and Mieteng City in their final four matches. Mieteng was so close, but a draw to Wonghia Saint-Lupain on the very last day, when a victory would have given them the title, brought them back to earth. Speaking of WSL, they managed an incredible tenth this year. instead of their usual last-place finish. Xaiv 1919, whose future once looked so bright, came crashing down and ended 8th, even with Paul Gessecki. He may look for a hihg-profile move next season, although Xaiv looked to already be that high-profile move. Guess not. Henry Garcia Valenci was the surprise Golden Boot winner, notching 22 in total. And so the fourth season of the A. Liga was in the books. However, after the final whistle, the SFF made a massive announcement. First, an additional cup, the Four Island's Cup, would start next season. It was aimed to give teams some mid-season competition, in contrast to the end-of-season Copa Nacional. Second, the fifth season would be the final season in which the current teams would make up all professional teams in the country. In other words, it was time for expansion. Three avenues were laid out: adding four more teams to the A. Liga, creating a second men's professional division, or launching a women's league. It was going to be a big season.

Season Roundup

The sixth season of Saterun domestic football had plenty of drama. Futsworth snatching the title on the last day was not the half of it. Mitzihno rocked to the Golden Boot, and Andrei Coiro displayed a midfield masterclass all season long to clinch the Golden Ball. Qeuthun proved themselves cup demons, winning both the inaugural Four Island Cup and the Copa Nacional for the first time in their history. While a minor tournament, played at the same time as the regular season, the Four Island Cup shows a team's ability to multitask and take their chances. Whichever way you look at it, this was a special season for Qeuthun FC.

Tsear FC stormed the league with 81 points, 26 wins, and only 1 loss, all league records. Thiago Esparza and Bjorn Dubicki helped The Club smash home 70 goals, one of the highest all-time highs. Although their performance in the cups was less than optimal, a record sixth trophy will surely leave Efik Crauss happy. Mietang City did well to climb back into the top four, and Futsworth United crashed down. Finally, the al-Fazir Memorial Park and Sultan Stadium played host to memorable final matchups, and Ajac Football Club and Mieteng City both notched their first trophies.

Tsear FC once again proved that they are the best club in Saterun, capturing both the A. Liga and their first Four Island Cup. Qeuthun FC managed to get a second Copa Nacional, adding to their trophy cabinet. Xaiv 1919 had a good cup run for a team slumped in form, but something has to change for the Sharks soon. An explosion of foreign talent this season will make the transfer window extra spicy, with Ifran Rahadi, Ricardo Goncalves, and Rillr Sawdare all looking hot prospects. With the bank accounts of some clubs looking large, we will certainly see some high-profile moves in the near future.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 9 Preview

Image

We're on the cusp of the ninth A. Liga season, directly after the biggest spending window the league had ever seen. Maksymillian Bates dominated the headlines, as he left Real Anasb for Chalesm FC for NSD 5 million. The new Chalesm FC man had smashed the previous record for a Saterunalian transfer with his move, and now all eyes would be watching him. He wasn't the only one to move abroad, however, as Saterun experienced a relative exodus of players. Aurel Cuesta was the second-biggest departure. There was also some movement in the managing department, as John Attenkoa retired and Crpostran manager Leonardo Bianchi came in to replace him. The new coach brought with him several new players, making Xaiv 1919 seem like a whole new team. The boss quickly made several large promises to the fanbase, including eventually winning both domestic cups. In other managerial news, Xackery Haward left Ias Club Football to take charge of Real Anasb, following the Royals' dismal 7th place finish last term. Haward guided Ias CF to 4th last term, delivering his team IFCF football as his final gift before leaving. In to replace him came Cillian Reynolds, promoted from the Ias youth setup. This is looking to be an electric season, in which the standing order of Saterun football might finally be toppled.

There were some big surprises in the first half of the season, with 4-time champions Tsear FC floundering in 8th place. Ias Club Football continued their ascent as they sat top of the league by the half-way mark, if only by one point. Cillian Reynolds seems to be capable of carrying on Xackery Haward's legacy. Haward hasn't done too bad himself at his new club, dragging Real Anasb back into IFCF places. Xaiv also seems to be making a resurgence on the back of a very busy transfer window, and Leonardo Bianchi might have what it takes to make it in the A Liga. Henry Garcia Valenci currently leads the pack in terms of goalscoring, having 12 after 15 games. Caesar Ibañez has also had a great start to his first season as an A. Liga starter, and Ricardo Goncalves has settled in nicely at Anasb FK to start bagging goals. However, only 5 points separate first place from mid-table, so it's still all to play for.

1 Mieteng City 29 17 5 7 44 26 +18 56

15 Wonghia Saint-Lupain 29 7 4 18 15 38 −23 25
16 Albery FC 29 3 8 18 19 38 −19 17

And then there were two. With only one matchday to go, only Mieteng City and Ias Club Football still had a chance at the table. Mieteng were in pole position to claim it, with Ias's only chance being a win for them and a heavy defeat for City. Although Real Anasb could still potentially fall very far, it's safe to say that The Royals completed their redemption season under Haward, even after losing talismanic striker Maksymillian Bates. Anasb FK and Futsworth managed very respectable positions, as neither of them can fall farther than 6th. Even Tsear FC has locked in at least a top 6 finish, even though this is looking likely to be their worst season ever. Questions may be asked of Efik Crauss if Tsear fail to perform in the cups. Henry Garcia Valenci is clear to win his second Golden Boot, with 26 goals with a game to play. Going into the final matchday, there was going to be significant drama in both the title fight and IFCF places.

16 Albery FC 30 4 8 18 21 38 −17 20

Much more comfortable than anticipated, Mieteng City captured their first league crown with 59 points. They became just the fourth club ever to lift the trophy after what had seemed to be a very close race. Ias CF suffered a late scare, but stayed in FFI places due to their superior goals for. Tsear FC finished 6th in what will go down as their worst-ever season, the first time that they landed outside of IFCF places. Xaiv 1919 fell pretty far throughout the latter half of the season, but still finished respectably. Although this may not have been the debut season Bianchi had hoped, things look bright for the Makos. Albery had a catastrophic season, but somehow beating Tsear FC on the final day to bind the latter to sixth was a bright spot. The ninth season of the A. Liga was in the books, and a new champion was crowned.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 10 Preview

Image

*Procedural Note*: KS Ajac is a rebranding of Ajac Football Club. Tammen Rangers and Kirk City Athletic are new additions to the league.

It's time for the historic tenth season of the A. Liga, and this time the original sixteen are joined by two new clubs. Tammen Rangers and Kirk City Athletic have been long-established semi-pro outfits, and won their regional championships to book their spot as the next two clubs to be added to Saterun's top flight. Ias CF continues to rise, as they managed second place last time out. If they keep up this pace, they're due for silverware soon. It was a very busy transfer window for the league, with a record amount of fees being paid and received. The pick of the bunch seems to be Real Anasb's deadline day signing of Hixinio Andrade from Miradela GD. The young midfielder is already threatening to break into Ko-oren's national team setup, and could be vital for Real this season. The most exciting rookie this year will likely be Jevgēņijs Teodors, bought from Crpostran team Brugstatd United. Teodors has already started grabbing WCQ goals for the Crpostran NT, and he's only 16. It's a sign of league growth that teams are able to attract these kinds of superstars, but now it's time for the clubs to start performing on the mutiversal level. Mieteng City made a good showing of themselves last season by topping their Challenger's Cup group, even if they eventually folded to Aminey in the Ro16. Finally, in addition to the two new teams in the A. Liga, the SFF announced a pilot season for a new A. Liga Youth League. It aims to serve as a developmental pathway for young A. Liga players, hopefully allowing clubs to develop their talent at an additional level.

Team Title Odds

1. Tsear FC 11/10
2. Futsworth United 2/1
3. Mieteng City 10/2
4. Xaiv 1919 16/1
5. Real Anasb 20/1
6. Anasb FK 20/1
7. Qeuthun FC 28/1
8. Ias Club Football 50/1
9. KS Ajac 150/1
10. Albery FC 250/1

Real Anasb have a comfortable lead over the pack right now, although they've bottled it before. It's a hell of a fight for IFCF places, as 2nd through 5th are all level on points. Even then, only 2 points separate 2nd place Tsear FC from 8th place KS Ajac. Tammen Rangers are having a very good first 15 games in the A. Liga, as at least one of the expansion teams seems to being doing well. Both Daxler and Kirk City are winless at the halfway mark, while Kirk City have conceded at a rate of just over 2 goals per game. Defending champions Mieteng City are in sixth place, sure, but as we said earlier, it's still very close at the top. Caesar Ibañez seems to be truly coming good for Real Anasb, as he has plundered 12 of their goals so far and is locked against Henry Garcia Valenci in the Golden Boot race. Will Real Anasb be able to hold their own for a first trophy under Xackary Haward? Only time will tell.

18 Kirk City Athletic 29 2 8 19 20 58 -38 14

And Real Anasb bottle it again. The turning point was likely a 0-1 defeat to Tsear FC at home on MD16, which precipitated a run of bad form. On the other hand, Futsworth United went on run of excellent form, winning 10 out of the 14 matches after the halfway break. They don't have the title just yet, however, with both Mieteng and Ias breathing down their necks. Ias will remember how close they were to winning the league last time, and this time they get 4 additional games to try to wring it out of Futsworth's grasp. The final 5 games of the season are poised for a thrilling conclusion, with all three of the top teams all playing each other, as well as Tsear FC and Anasb FK a few times. Whatever happens, there will be drama.

With one match to go, it was still all to play for. Besides a shock loss to Tsear AC, Mieteng looked a cut above the rest towards the closing stage of the season. Crucially, they beat both Futsworth and Ias, meaning Henry Garcia Valenci and Co. look primed for a back-to-back title. However, Ias and Futsworth could both snatch away the title, and with the top 3 having all played each other before the final day it'll be up to teams farther down the table to catalyze an upset. The race for IFCF places can only be shifted by one place now, with Anasb FK looking to sneak in. If the stars align, the Lions could even find themselves in 2nd place by virtue of goal differential, although that would be pretty unlikely.

And so the prophecy was finally completed. Ias had gone on a meteoric rise since Haward brought them to sixth in season 7, and Reynolds has finally give the third-largest fanbase in the A Liga a title. A simple away win against a surprisingly-in form Coppola side was enough for ICF to land their first ever piece of silverware, as Mieteng only managed to draw Tsear FC at home. Speaking of Tsear, they missed out on IFCF football for the second season in a row, and it's rumored that the board might be looking for someone to take over for Efik Crauss. Qeuthun had a shocker of a season, finishing tenth, but we all know their strength is in the cups. The extra 4 games were received well enough by the established teams, and although Kirk City had a predictable finish Tammen managed to significantly out-perform expectations. It was one of the most drama-filled A Liga seasons yet, in which the established order had finally been upset.
