Welcome to the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! We hope that you’ve had a good winter break because we’ve got quite the exciting season ahead of us. Once again we’re following the best teams and fastest drivers in Astyria as they test their mettle in 21 of the greatest monuments to motoring performance. Each of them brings about a different challenge, and those who can rise above will stand above the rest as this year’s champions. Which of those teams and drivers will that be? Let’s start our search right now, shall we?

We begin the year at the historic Aswickan Grand Prix at Sherbourne Circuit. This former airfield and popular grand prix venue was where the first ever AstyF1 race was held in 1960; since then it has seen many memorable moments over the decades. Its grandstands are always filled to the brim with thousands of fans, proudly holding their heads up high at the legacy of their nation’s drivers. No other country in Astyria has produced so many Drivers’ Champions - they would certainly be thrilled if another could be added to the list.

This 5.89 km circuit is full of high-speed sections where drivers can put the hammer down, but tempered with slow and medium-speed corners that could catch one out. There is a lot of action to be had here with plenty of places for overtaking across its entire length. Combine that with a moderate chance of freakish Aswickan weather and you're in for quite the banger for the season opener.

One year on from the start of the new ground effect era and the AMF has brought about changes to the cars to make them safer and encourage closer racing. In light of Steven Grey’s horrific accident at the 2021 Caprican Grand Prix, new safety standards to the chassis have been implemented to prevent other drivers from suffering the same fate. Additionally, changes have been made to the underfloor and the rear wing to reduce porpoising and clean the aerodynamic wake further. The result of some of these rule changes - as well as some of the others - is that the minimum weight of the cars has been brought up to an unprecedented 790 kg, the heaviest in the sport’s history.

The rich, dark green of Merlin will be switched out for a bright and shiny blue car, as Urbina makes their return to AstyF1. Last year, the ViZionarian luxury car brand announced that they’ve bought the Aswickan team, marking their first entry to the sport since their departure in 2017, and they will be joining as a full works operation with their own powertrain. AMZ will also be turning into a full factory team, ditching the Oravec-badged engines and bringing one designed in-house. After their troubled start last year, will this help the Sloverti automaker rise up the grid and challenge for points on a more regular basis?

On the paddock, we are going to be welcoming a few new faces to root for in the coming years. The first is up-and-coming rookie Mitchell Townsend, winner of the 2021 AstyF2 championship. This promising young Aswickan will be making his debut at the Urbina team, replacing the outgoing Gianpiero Santoro who now drives for Phaeton. He will be joined by the man he pipped to the title: Valkean sensation Henri Makitalö at AMZ.

For the first time in AstyF1’s history, a Lisandrian driver will be making an appearance. Athan Lille’s path to Angelbridge was an unusual one, for he used to race in the WGP2 championship. However, many observers have tagged him as a talented racer: time will tell if he can adjust to this new series. The man he replaces, Decius Whitewall, will be racing alongside Santoro at the Stabulum.

Having just come off the back of the 2021 Constructors’ Championship, Phaeton will be looking to get some of the most talented drivers in the field to fill the shoes of retired champions Tertius DiParadisa and Pekka Koivu. Whitewall will be looking to prove himself at AstyF1’s perennial top team, hopefully to add his name among the Blackhelm Confederacy’s grand prix winners, while Santoro will be aiming to win his first championship with them. Both have quite a lot of expectation on their shoulders - can they live up to them and keep the trophies coming for the red team for years to come?

There's always going to be a certain excitement in seeing how the order will get shaken up on the Aswickan tarmac. However, no one could have predicted what the first ever Qualifying event of 2022 brought. Decius Whitewall immediately impressed with the third fastest time of Q3, proving that Phaeton's faith in him was not misplaced. Lauren Blake, a favorite among many pundits to take the Drivers' Championship this year, pipped the Confederate driver to P2 and put her Sidus on the front row.

But just ahead of her was the Raamaker of Bram Dichter, who seemed to find microseconds in places where the others haven't. As a result, he topped all three qualifying sessions and cemented himself as a potential championship contender. The same cannot be said for Robert van Grol, who was unable to make it out of Q2 due to unusual tire vibrations. Still, if pre-season testing is to be believed, Raamaker is the team to watch out for in 2022.

Maximilian Frentzen and Nick Hardy were also showing good pace, placing themselves in P8 and P9, respectively. The progress that Breuer and Delaney made with the extra aero development time was evident on Saturday. AMZ had also made decent improvements from last year as both of their cars got into Q3, with Aleksander Valiny starting ahead of Makitalö. Time will tell whether that will be enough to get those teams back into the midfield.

There were also some disappointments. Guy Bassett will have to start Sunday's race a long way away from his teammate, and so will Stefan Lakowski in P15. Urbina's first outing wasn't as fruitful as they have hoped, as rookie Mitchell Townsend could only muster a 16th place start. Dominic Hudnall seemed worse off, as he spun 'round at Turn 7 and jeopardized his chances of going faster. And finally, Nicolas von Siedel was unable to go faster due to having his time invalidated for running wide at Turn 5.

Circuit: Sherbourne Circuit
Event: Aswickan Grand Prix

Cars on Grid: 24

An electrifying atmosphere pervaded at Sherbourne as the lights went out to herald the new season. Dichter had a brilliant start and began to separate from the pack, but Blake and Whitewall weren't too far behind. Bassett leapt forwards and swept past Hardy and Frentzen before the first corner, while van Grol and Lille did the same on Phillip Rollins. Ivan Jovanović was quick to have a go into Turn 6, but Whitewall was able to fend him off well. The battle continued into the rest of the first lap until the Nikolian finally made the pass at Turn 9.

Conway Prescott and Sarah Musgrove were doing well to hold the hammer down, with the former holding Santoro behind him. However, the two cars came together on Lap 3 when Prescott made the pass on his teammate and accidentally clipped her front wing. She had to make an early pit stop to make a wing change, which cost the team several places, while Prescott was given a 5-second penalty from the stewards. Meanwhile, Nick Hardy was having a decent race, fending off Valiny all race long and keeping his Delaney in points contention.

It didn't take long for the carnage to start as Makitalö cut in from the outside on Lap 10 and touched Frentzen's front wing, sending both of them into the gravel and bringing out the safety car. The leaders were quick to pit, handing Jovanović the lead. That wasn't the end of Breuer's problems, though - on the restart, locked his tires going into Turn 16 and rear-ended von Siedel off as well. This second crash brought out the red flag.

The cars were brought back to the starting grid, and Dichter, Blake, and Bassett formed the top 3 on the restart. This time, Dichter had the poorer start as the Sidus driver slotted in front of him into Turn 1. The two cars continued to battle it out going into the next sector, but Blake managed to put herself out of the Noordenstaater's reach. From then on she controlled the pace and steadily built up a lead. On Lap 39 she made her final pit stop, relinquishing the lead to Dichter, who was told to stay out to the end.

Bassett's race engineer opted for a different strategy, having the Beriquois driver extend his tires as late as possible and pitting late to prevent Whitewall from getting past. However, this was thwarted by a 6.3-second pit stop, which allowed Whitewall and Prescott through. Yet, on fresh tires he was able to gain on Prescott and come past him on Lap 44. He then focused his attention on Whitewall, but by the time he was able to get within striking distance, he struggled to make a move on him. He ended up finishing behind him with over a second between them.

She caught up with him on Lap 46 and immediately went on the attack. But despite being on aging rubber, Dichter was wise to her moves and covered her off at every opportunity. The fans were enthralled by the spectacle these two young drivers were giving them. Yet, on Lap 48, Dichter's tires could no longer take the strain, and he ran wide out of Turn 9. Blake flew past and never looked back, taking the victory in fine style to become the first woman in AstyF1 history to lead the Drivers' Championship. Sidus drew first blood at Sherbourne, but Phaeton and Raamaker look like they could bite at their heels. The purple team will have to look over their shoulders a lot this season, for they've got 20 more races to go.

It's time for Round 2 of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! With the opening race of the season ending with a thrilling victory for Lauren Blake, she heads into this round leading the championship for the first time. However, Bram Dichter isn't too far behind, and has proved that Raamaker has made a good car this year. Can she be able to maintain that lead over the next twenty races? Well, let's find out as we head to our next stop in our travelling circus: the Mizia Grand Prix at Bakunin Circuit!

Unlike Sherbourne Circuit, which is steeped in Astyrian grand prix history, Bakunin Circuit is a more recent venue meant to put Mizialand on the motorsports map. As such, they've built a modern racetrack that has featured on the AstyF1 calendar since 2014. It also hosts a myriad of other national and regional motorsports events, which have seen many of our sport's drivers rise up the ranks to get to where they are today.

It features long straights, challenging corners, and lots of elevation changes that will test the grip of this year's cars to the limit. In addition to that, there is a slight chance that the weather could shake up the order. It's no wonder then that fans and drivers have quickly come to love this circuit, even comparing it to other tracks throughout history. This grand prix will certainly be a treat to watch.

We will be seeing an unusual grid order when the lights go out on Sunday. Both Phaetons were unable to get themselves into the front three rows, while Bram Dichter just wasn't able to put the lap together and get to the front. Meanwhile, his teammate and 2016 champion Robert van Grol put himself in P4, with Guy Bassett just behind him.

Athan Lille got into his first Q3 of the session and did not disappoint. He put his car in front of Whitewall in P6, sending the Angelbridge garage into raptures. Devin Acker was able to bring out a P10 starting position, putting Delaney in a good position for points. But the biggest upset of them all was Nidwalden's Maximilian Frentzen, who rocked up to the circuit and set the 3rd fastest time in qualifying.

Ahead of him was Ivan Jovanović, who was the fastest driver for Q1 and Q2 and looked set on taking provisional pole. However, he was beaten to it by championship leader Lauren Blake by only 6/100th's of a second, who was able to get a tow from Bassett.

Event: Mizia Grand Prix

Lights out and the Mizia Grand Prix was underway. Blake had a good start and began building distance on the first lap, while Dichter jumped Prescott and Whitewall off the line. Santoro also made up places, taking Acker into the first corner and Prescott up the hill before the long straight, and Stefan Lakowski made it up to 10th. On the other hand, Sarah Musgrove had a terrible start and fell from P15 to P20 in the space of a few hundred meters.

Urbina's race was a tale of two drivers: Dominic Hudnall and Mitchell Townsend. Despite a poor qualifying from both, Hudnall was the only one to actually gain places, getting up to P16 by the halfway point. Townsend on the other hand was hampered by a problem with his front brakes, which meant he couldn't carry as much speed into corners as his teammate. Because of this, he remained at the back of the field from start to finish.

Despite his troubled start, Whitewall's race went relatively well, as he had surged up the field to 2nd place behind Blake. Sadly, fate would deny him a podium finish, as his MGU-K failed on Lap 31 and he was told to return to the pits and retire the car. Musgrove had a much bigger nightmare of a race, as her engine suddenly caught fire down the back straight and brought out the safety car. Her teammate looked to limit the damage, but Ólafur Guðestersson passed the Aswickan on Lap 59.

Frentzen was able to hold third place for the first few laps, even against a charging van Grol bearing down on him. However, his first pit stop unraveled any chance for Breuer to score a podium, as he was held up for 8.4 seconds due to a tire change delay. He emerged from the pits in 11th place and tried to make up places to scrap some points for Breuer. Unfortunately, he found himself stuck behind Aleksander Valiny for most of the race, and only could manage an 8th place finish come the checkered flag.

Meanwhile, van Grol had taken advantage of Frentzen's misfortunes and continued to pick off car after car, taking an aggressive strategy in the pits to try and catch Blake on fresher rubber. Dichter had a similar charge up the order, challenging both Jovanović and Lakowski to take the final podium position. It looked like van Grol would be able to catch the Sidus, but he was caught up in traffic by Matthew Martins and Athan Lille, who were a lap down.

Blake won her second race of the season four seconds ahead of van Grol, extending her lead in the Drivers' Championship, with Dichter doing just enough to deny Lakowski from the podium and get the fastest lap. Raamaker's double podium finish meant that they were now second in the Constructors' Standings, finally confirming their challenge against Sidus. With Lakowski and Jovanović in 4th and 5th respectively, LZS got up to 3rd and outscored Phaeton by 3 points.

Welcome, everyone! It's Round 3 of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship and we're coming to you from the Sloverti Grand Prix! This year we get to experience the Sloverti party atmosphere towards the beginning of the year as thousands of fans have come to see the cars race at Kojbakvy Circuit. Even though it's been only a short while since the last grand prix, the whole of Slovertia has been busy in the down time. As a result, we're going to be introduced to some modifications to the track layout for the first time this season.

Certain corners have been widened in order to encourage more overtaking, while the Turn 9-10 chicane was completely eliminated for an unbroken sweeping section along the lake. There has also been an extensive resurfacing of the track to make the asphalt smoother and alleviate the porpoising problem some teams have had last year. We can expect lap times to go down as well as more frequent action than in previous years.

And these opportunities have to be seized as Phaeton has quite the mountain to climb after their poor start to the season. The 2021 Constructors' Champions currently sit in 4th place behind LZS. Both teams have brought new upgrades to their car, which they say will unlock more performance - who will come out on top? Meanwhile, despite having a strong car for this season, Raamaker still have a gap between them and Sidus in both championships. Can they close up and keep the title fight going or will the purple cars run away with it? It's all very exciting!

The Lizzies looked strong in all three practice sessions, but they seemed to trail Conway Prescott for the first two qualifying sessions. The MacGregor driver set the quickest time out of the entire Saturday, setting a 00:01:20.807 in Q1. However, his pace began to drop off due to some graining issues in the later two sessions. Meanwhile, Stefan Lakowski and Ivan Jovanović were getting up to speed as the track warmed up. Finally in Q3, Jovanović towed Lakowski to the line and helped the latter gain pole position, securing the first front-row lockout out of any team in 2022.

The Phaetons were once again off the pace of the leaders, as Gianpiero Santoro and Decius Whitewall were only able to qualify in 6th and 7th, respectively. The Raamakers also struggled to get their car to the front, and the Noordenstaater duo will be starting in P10 and P11. Behind them is Guy Bassett, who was unable to get a quicker flying lap in due to traffic involving Devin Acker and Frentzen. Maríón Álfheiður had managed to qualify 8th on Saturday, but was given a 5-place grid penalty for impeding Aleksander Valiny on the Q2 restart with less than two minutes left on the clock.

Despite Prescott's troubles later on, he still was able to place his MacGregor in Q3, with Lauren Blake beside him and Maximilian Frentzen staring at his exhaust. The same couldn't be said for his teammate Sarah Musgrove, who couldn't improve on her time due to crashing out in Q2. The team attributed this to her car getting too much kerb and spinning into the barriers in the first sector.

The sun shone right into the drivers' face as the lights went out and they set off. Prescott had a good start, squeezing past Jovanović into the first corner and challenging Lakowski immediately for the lead. Bram Dichter and Robert van Grol also got off the line well, making it past Acker on the 2nd straight into Turn 3. Frentzen nearly rear-ended Blake in trying to chase her down into Turn 11, but he backed off just in time. Sadly for the Nidwaldeser he went off into the grass doing so and rejoined the pack behind Santoro and Whitewall. Both LZS cars were managing their tires well, having started on mediums for their first stints. However, they began to lose pace upon switching to the hard tires.

On the other hand, Bassett had a horrible start, losing out to Valiny and Álfheiður into Turn 1. His luck would get even worse as Phillip Rollins challenged him in Turn 13, clipping part of the Sidus's front endplate. Rollins got a 5-second penalty for that dangerous move. The Beriquois made an immediate pit stop to change his front wing, emerging at the back of the field in the process. But he was able to make up some places, yet it was not enough for him to get above 16th place. Much of it was due to losing precious tire life in fighting Henri Makitalö for 15th, which made him vulnerable to Dominic Hudnall's Urbina.

Santoro also suffered terrible luck during the race, losing precious time to a slow pit stop. He struggled to get his tires up to working temperature on his next stint, which put him in danger of losing points places. Nick Hardy sensed an opportunity to get some points for Delaney and went past the Monsan on the penultimate lap, denying Santoro 10th place.

Owing to a bold one-stop strategy, Musgrove surged up the order, making it up to 10th by the halfway point. The Aswickan rookie was making good progress and remained in 6th for much of the race. Soon enough, Jovanović was close enough to challenge her, but she put up a good fight. The duel went on for several laps, with neither driver giving an inch to the other. But the LZS's pace proved to be slightly better than the MacGregor's, and Jovanović overtook her on Lap 47.

Meanwhile Lakowski was struggling to maintain the lead, even as he was trying to coax some life out of his tire. Both Raamakers had caught up to him, and van Grol made the pass on Lap 47. Dichter would then do the same on Lap 48, sealing a potential 1-2 for the team. But it wasn't over just yet, for the young Noordenstaater then set off after his teammate in a battle for the lead. The 2016 Champion fended him off for two laps, but he went in too deep at Turn 11 and compromised his exit, which allowed Dichter to close him down. Dichter finally made the move on Lap 50 down the pit straight and sealed the win by building a substantial lead.

Van Grol began to fall off due to compromising his tires in the battle, and looked like he was going to lose out to Lakowski. However, the Nikolian was unable to become a threat in time, and Raamaker crossed the line with both car taking the top two podium places. To add to their first 1-2 finish of the year, Dichter clocked the fastest lap and gained an extra point, closing in on the championship leader Lauren Blake, who stayed in 4th. Raamaker now led the Constructors' Championship for the first time since 2017, with a 14-point advantage over Sidus. LZS now cemented themselves as best of the rest, extending their gap from Phaeton. See you at Monsa for the next round!

Welcome back to the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! You join us from the 4th round at the crown jewel event of the entire season: the Monsa Grand Prix! Easily the oldest continuous race on the entire calendar, appearing in every championship since AstyF1 began in 1960, it takes place on the shores of the picturesque Bay of Monsa. The rich and famous from all over Astyria flock to this tiny Teudallic nation to party with the drivers and teams, as well as watch the cars whiz through the city from their multi-million dollar yachts in the harbor.

The street circuit snakes through the tight streets of the affluent Conquistadores district of the City of Monsa, from which fans can watch from the surrounding buildings as well as on the water. It is a course that has remained largely unchanged through the decades, and it is a truly monumental course to master. Lined with walls on every side, with little to no room for mistakes, no other track presents a more formidable challenge for the drivers than here. Having the fastest car isn't enough - they also need to have enormous amounts of talent and bravery to take this fabulous circuit on.

It is no wonder then that every AstyF1 driver would want to win this race. Lauren Blake, the current championship leader, would certainly want to take her first ever victory at Monsa, as would Bram Dichter, her closest challenger. But no other driver will want it more than Monsan driver Gianpiero Santoro, who will be racing in red for the first time in front of his fellow compatriots. Will he be able to claim the victory that has eluded him throughout his career? Which driver from our grid will be the next one to claim immortality on the streets of Monsa? Let's find out!

It's time for the most exciting qualifying session of the year, where drivers will be setting their quickest times in the most difficult circuit on the calendar. Sidus, Phaeton, and Raamaker seem to be showing good pace in all three Free Practice sessions - let's see which team and driver will come out on top.

Raamaker had a good showing, with Bram Dichter and Robert van Grol setting some quick times in Q1. Gianpiero Santoro wasn't too far behind, and neither was Lauren Blake. However, Santoro seemed to unlock some more pace in Q2 and Q3, and so he went to the top of the times, putting his Phaeton on pole position. Blake was good enough to start alongside him at the front, while Dichter and van Grol locked out the 2nd row.

Nicolas von Siedel mustered his championship-worthy skills and finished as the 5th fastest driver on the grid on Saturday. His teammate Maximilan Frentzen also had a fantastic performance in P8, setting Breuer up for a good result. Nynorsk driver Maríón Álfheiður also shocked the paddock, putting his Kappaksturslid in P6 ahead of the other Phaeton of Decius Whitewall.

But there were also some disappointments as well. While LZS looked strong at the previous race in Slovertia, they struggled here in Monsa, with Stefan Lakowski and Ivan Jovanović only taking P14 and P15. But the man with the worst luck out of the lot was Guy Bassett, who crashed out of Q1 after his car locked up into the Harbour Chicane and crashed into the barriers. The damage was so severe that the Sidus mechanics had to rebuild his gearbox, sending the Beriquois driver to the back of the grid.

The lights went out on the Monsa Grand Prix and everyone managed to get away cleanly. Santoro was quick to squeeze Blake going into Turn 1, ensuring his lead. Prescott made a daring pass in the tunnel on the runup to the casino, while Aleksander Valiny outbraked Ólafur Guðestersson going into the Harbour Chicane. At the back, Bassett got off the line well and got past Nick Hardy before the first corner. With most of the overtakes done on the first couple of laps, the drivers began to set into their rhythms.

Mitchell Townsend sent one down the inside of Conway Prescott going into the chicane, cutting across it and retaining his position. Prescott expected that the Aswickan rookie would give the place back, but it didn't happen. Consequently, the race officials handed him a 5-second penalty, which was served during his pit stop. Dominic Hudnall wasn't doing too well either, as he struggled to get past Devin Acker's car for most of the race.

Santoro was able to keep his lead through the pit stops. Blake was right on his tail though, and she challenged him for the lead as soon as he exited the pit lane. Both of them rocketed up the hill at speed, but Santoro was able to stay in front. Blake looked like she would be able to complete the pass out of the tunnel, but she went in too deep at the chicane, allowing Santoro to once again get past. She wouldn't get another chance as Octavius Clearwater broke down and parked at the Turn 5 runoff, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car.

Despite Bassett's early efforts to move up the grid, he continued to languish at the back, having to fight off the backmarkers. Phillip Rollins got quite opportunistic on Lap 52 when he saw a chance to dive down the inside into Turn 10, but he collided with Bassett's rear left tire, causing the latter to go straight and miss the chicane. This brought out a 5-second penalty that was added on at the end of the race, as well as another VSC. A bit of debris from the collision punctured Álfheiður's tire, which ended his weekend prematurely.

Henri Makitalö became a star in his own right on Monsa's streets. The Valkean managed his tires well, overcutting his teammate for several laps and briefly getting up to 6th in the race. However he eventually had to pit on Lap 53, taking advantage of Álfheiður's retirement to make the stop. He came out just behind Valiny, and the AMZ duo held position until the end of the race.

Bram Dichter came 3rd and Lauren Blake came 2nd, but their Sunday paled in comparison to the driver who came in 1st. After twelve years of trying and failing, Santoro crossed the checkered flag and finally won the Monsa Grand Prix, becoming the first Monsan ever to win the prestigious event in history. He also led every lap and clinched the fastest lap at the end, becoming part of a select group of drivers who have secured a Grand Slam. It is certainly a weekend that the 32-year-old will never ever forget.

Welcome, everyone! We're here for the 5th Round of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship: the Nikolian Grand Prix! It's going to be a sea of volt green for this weekend, as thousands of fans have come in full force to the Moravia Circuit in Carigrad to support the LZS team. Stefan Lakowski and Ivan Jovanović will both be wanting to put on a show for their fellow Nikolians, but they know that it would take a little luck to put their cars ahead of the leading Siduses and Raamakers.

And they would want to start on the front this Sunday, for the Moravia Circuit is one of the most difficult tracks to overtake in. Most of its sections are barely wide enough for two cars to go wheel-to-wheel with each other, and it is full of slow and medium-speed corners. Furthermore, it can take time to get the cars up to speed, as the dry and dusty conditions can interfere with track evolution. Nevertheless, the circuit has seen many great moments since it first came onto the calendar in the 1980s, including Tomasz Maruszewski's charge from 10th to 1st in the wet in 2009.

We will be seeing teams bring their first batch of significant upgrades at this grand prix. Breuer have brought a brand new power unit specification, while MacGregor and AMZ have updated their floor to further optimize downforce from the ground effect. Phaeton will be looking to benefit from this track, thanks to their current car's agility through the corners. However, the team recognizes that there is still a long way to go before they can fully unlock their car's potential. Can they carry the momentum they got from Monsa and bring a red car to the front once again? Stick around and find out!

Rain had soaked the track in FP3, which meant that the start of qualifying would be in damp but drying conditions. One by one the cars gingerly came out of pit lane to try their hand at setting their times. Conway Prescott looked quickest in the first session, being one of the first to make the switch to dry slicks in the changing conditions. His teammate, Sarah Musgrove, wasn't as lucky, as she lost control at Turn 7 and crashed into the wall. This brought out the red flag while the MacGregor team worked for the rest of the day to repair her car.

But by Q2, Lauren Blake was able to find pace and set the timing screens alight, getting the fastest time of the session. She would then beat that in Q3, becoming the first driver on that day to get into the 1:17s. Yet despite her pole lap, which put her in a good position for the race, she will be starting alongside Maximilan Frentzen, who missed out on pole by nearly 4/100ths of a second. Robert van Grol wasn't too far behind either, being another 2/100ths behind.

Besides Frentzen, there were two other drivers that have made stunning qualifying performances that day: Henri Makitalö and Nick Hardy. Both have benefited from an early red flag caused by Phillip Rollins' own crash at Turn 14, which prevented Gianpiero Santoro, Bram Dichter, Guy Bassett, and Decius Whitewall from improving their times. We can be sure that there would be some choice words from them directed towards the Aswickan when they get back to the paddock.

The sun was out, and the Nikolian Grand Prix was getting underway. Blake had a tremendous start and built an early gap in the first sector, while Frentzen fell back as van Grol and Prescott jumped him into Turn 1. Makitalö and Hardy also suffered from poor starts, leading to both banging their wheels with one another at Turn 3 in their fight to stay in the points. The race officials investigated this and dismissed this as a race incident, much to the AMZ garage's consternation.

Musgrove's start was brilliant as she managed to get past Matthew Martins, Athan Lille, and Devin Acker off the line. However, she struggled to gain any more places over the remained of the race. Much of her Sunday was spent looking at Dominic Hudnall's rear wing, putting her in 19th at the race's end.

Angelbridge will be walking home without any points to score, thanks to their unfortunate reliability troubles. Octavius Clearwater's engine spluttered to a halt on Lap 6, while Lille sustained a crash on Lap 17 due to brake failure. This brought out the safety car for the next three laps while the marshals cleared up the wreckage. Luckily, the Lisanderian rookie came out okay.

In light of this accident, the leaders were quick to pit for new tires. Blake maintained track position in the scramble, while Santoro shot up to 3rd place and jumped Dichter. In his desperation to keep the MacGregor behind, van Grol defended a little too rashly, causing Prescott to make contact with his rear. The Aswickan pitted for a new front wing, while van Grol was given a 10-second penalty for his actions.

Lakowski was doing his utmost to make his tires last, hoping to overcut his competition. He looked to be challenging for the win when he defended his lead against Blake from Laps 30 to 32. However on Lap 33, he locked up his wheels and went wide out of Turn 1, giving the championship leader an opportunity to pass him at Turn 3. From then on, she controlled the pace, even responding to Lakowski's switch to a two-stop strategy on Lap 48.

To add insult to injury, the Nikolian's exit was delayed due to Decius Whitewall coming out of his own pit stop, which cost him precious seconds. As a result, Santoro and Dichter were able to overtake him and deny him a podium in front of his home crowd. Blake on the other hand had managed to keep a healthy gap from Santoro to win the grand prix, taking the fastest lap of the race with her and Driver of the Day, while her closest rival Dichter rounded out the podium with a P3.

With this victory, Blake extended her lead in the Drivers' Championship, while Sidus closed the gap to Raamaker down to two points. Will they be able to keep their Constructors' Championship lead at the next race in Khyragus? We hope to see you there!

Welcome to the 6th Round of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! After five rounds of thrilling high speed action, the championship remains tight for the top teams and drivers. Let's see if this intensity carries on at our next race of the series: the Khyragusian Grand Prix at the Kennedy Circuit. On its off days, the circuit is a favorite for many of Khyragus' most passionate car enthusiasts, thanks to its charming scenery and its undulating tarmac. However, when the F1 circus comes here, it is easily the biggest motorsport event in the country.

While this track is the smallest permanent race course on the calendar, this place has no shortage of challenge for the drivers. All 3.98 km of this track is full of slow and meandering corners with few places for overtaking and barely enough room for cars to race past - a nod to its heritage as a classic track for Khyragusian motorsport. The track may have more runoff area than when it was constructed in the 1930s, but thanks to the uncompromising terrain around it, there are still many places where mistakes can creep up and end someone's race early.

Just like in Monsa, the best place to start to take the win here is from pole position, and it has been that way for the majority of races that were held here in the past two decades. One of those wins was taken last year by our current championship leader, Lauren Blake, who crossed the line to take her very first victory. Time will tell if she will be able to repeat the feat here or if someone else will get the glory

Easily the most exciting part of the entire weekend, thousands turned up to see the cars navigate the course in qualifying. Bram Dichter had the early advantage, setting the fastest time in Q1. Sarah Musgrove struggled to set a decent time for MacGregor due to the bumpy track surface inducing an uncomfortable amount of porpoising. As such, she was knocked out of Q1 for the second time in 2022. She's got quite a lot of work to do if she wants to make up places here, and that's no easy feat.

Conway Prescott did a lot better, riding out the bumps and making it into Q3. Despite having a bit of a moment at Turn 2, he was able to pip Guy Bassett to 8th place. Matthew Martins also had a good Saturday, with his P12 appearance marking the first time that Sevir reached Q3 this season. And to top it all off, Angelbridge is looking good as Athan Lille repeated his highest qualifying position in 6th.

The Phaetons came out supreme, with Decius Whitewall setting the fastest time of the day and securing pole position. Dichter will be starting on the front row in 2nd, while Blake will start in 3rd. Robert van Grol put his Raamaker up to P4, giving the Noordenstaater team a signficant advantage, while Gianpiero Santoro mustered a P5.

The lights went out and immediately there was carnage within the first few hundred meters. Santoro had a poor start and was tagged by a divebombing Prescott, which sent the Monsan into the barriers at Turn 2. This brought out the red flag, and the Aswickan was handed a five-second penalty to be served during his pit stop. It took a long time for the marshals to retrieve Santoro's car and repair the damage to the barriers, but eventually the race was restarted.

At this second start, Blake and Dichter nearly caused a second collision at Turn 2, but luckily the former was able to back off. This near-incident cost her precious distance between her and Dichter, and the championship runner-up was able to pull away handily. Meanwhile, Whitewall was able to maintain his lead during his first stint, building gaps when he needed to and preserving his tires for as long as possible. The Confederate pitted on Lap 32 for a set of hards, which he would run to the end.

Unlike Dichter, van Grol had a terrible restart, losing a place to Lakowski off the line and nearly getting collected into Turn 2 by an oblivious Devin Acker. He urged his team to have the stewards take a look, but the incident was only noted. To add to his misery, the pit crew botched his pit stop, costing him precious seconds. Nevertheless, he was able to ensure that his team at least gets one more point in for the Constructors' Championship.

On the other hand, Aleksander Valiny had benefited from a tire change when the red flag was brought out, and so he was able to make his only mandatory pit stop. For putting his head down, conserving his tires, and not getting into trouble, he was rewarded with a 6th place for AMZ - the highest points position they've had this year. A remarkable performance, indeed.

The MacGregor duo were the kings of overtakes on this narrow and difficult track. To make up for the penalty that he served in the pits, Prescott pushed hard to limit the damage. He was able to get within reach of the points, but van Grol proved to be a thorn in his side that day. Musgrove looked the stronger of the MacGregor pair on Sunday, having benefited from the safety car and making her own charge up the field, getting herself into P8 - the former AstyF2 champion showing her critics why she belonged in AstyF1 despite the difficult start to her season.

Decius Whitewall crossed the line to claim his maiden career victory and rise to 3rd in the standings ahead of his teammate Santoro. Dichter came home in 2nd with the fastest lap of the race and is steadily whittling away at Blake's lead. It wouldn't be all bad for the championship leader, who's just secured 3rd place - Bassett's 5th place finish gave Sidus just enough points to pip Raamaker to the top of the Constructors' Standings. Neither side is going to give an inch for a shot at becoming this year's champions: which one of them will do it?

Welcome to Round 7 of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! The circus continues on to the sunny archipelago of Kelonna for the next race of the season: the Kelonna Grand Prix! Here in the city of Halynby, the busy central harbor has been completely transformed into a unique track that is a hybrid of street circuit and permanent road course, bringing the vibrant Beobecce neighborhood a taste of the high-speed thrills that only AstyF1 can provide.

But the Beobecce Street Circuit remains a challenge for drivers to overtake. With the tightness you'd expect from a street circuit as well as little grip off the racing line, this narrows down overtaking opportunities to just a handful of corners. However, with the success of last year's regulation shakeup in producing cars that are easier to follow, hope remains high that there will be more thrilling battles on tracks like these. We may be in for an exciting race this weekend!

Even as the majority of the grid have already brought out big upgrades in the previous grands prix, the development race for the teams continues to rage on. Some teams have brought their own track-specific modifications such as cooling louvers to deal with the heat, but others have gone further than that. Urbina may be late to the upgrading party, but they pulled out all the stops with their new spec of car. With revised floor geometry, bodywork, and internal packaging, they hope that they will make a big step forward. Will they be able to get those elusive first points? Let's see!

The Raamakers looked strong throughout Qualifying, putting in impressive lap times through all three sessions. While both drivers seemed to have equal pace, Bram Dichter looked to be the slightly faster driver in Q1 and Q2, beating his teammate Robert van Grol by several thousandths of a second. Both however seemed to be slower than Guy Bassett, who topped the times in both sessions. However, it was ultimately van Grol who claimed pole position, just 17/1000ths quicker than Bassett. Dichter was a further tenth behind and will start 3rd.

Behind Dichter were the two Phaetons, with last race's winner Decius Whitewall starting behind Gianpiero Santoro. Behind the Confederate was the Delaney of Nick Hardy, who was able to put in a storming lap ahead of MacGregor's Conway Prescott. Lauren Blake was set to do the same and get herself on the front row in the dying hours of Q3, setting purple sectors alight. But Maximilian Frentzen crashed out in the final sector and brought out the yellow flags, forcing her to abandon what would have been a potential front-row start for Sidus.

LZS's pace seemed to be absent all day, with both Stefan Lakowski and Ivan Jovanović out of Q2 and starting in P14 and P15. Similarly, both Angelbridges never even made it out of Q1, making an already troubled season for them even worse. Dominic Hudnall barely made it into Q3, but Mitchell Townsend still struggled with his car, only reaching P18.

Sunday was another scorcher, but the show still went on. The race began relatively cleanly, with Nicolas von Siedel, Blake, and Hudnall making up places at the start. Immediately Bassett challenged van Grol for the lead into Turn 8, but had to back off to avoid coming together. He tried again going down the back straight, but the 2016 AstyF1 champion was able to cover him off. The gap between the two leaders grew steadily over the next few laps, with van Grol maintaining a comfortable lead for the majority of the race.

Drivers began to struggle with the prevailing wind directions in various sections of the track. Maximilian Frentzen was unsettled by a gust of wind and spun around on Turn 13, clipping his rear against the barriers. This brought out a lengthy safety car and saw many drivers make their pit stops. Aleksander Valiny would fall victim to crosswinds as well, spinning just before the bus stop chicane at Turn 2. This cost him his front wing and suspension, bringing out another safety car.

The race resumed and already there were some daring overtakes being made. Hudnall outbroke Prescott into Turn 17, while Blake made a double-pass on Santoro and Dichter down the back straight to get 2nd. Bassett locked up trying to overtake van Grol down the back straight, which cost him several seconds. Hudnall was able to defend well against Prescott for several laps, as well as against von Siedel.

Jovanović tried several times to get himself past Sarah Musgrove, but she was able to anticipate his every move, steadily gaining pace as the laps progressed. Jovanović then tried for a more aggressive strategy, putting himself on mediums on Lap 45. However, despite having closed the gap down to Musgrove, it was too late to get that final points position.

Van Grol had put on a calm and composed drive from start to finish, and looked like he was going to stay there up to the end. However, fate would decide otherwise. He noticed a significant drop of power going into the hard braking zone at Turn 12. The Raamaker garage didn't seem to detect any problems and told him to carry on, but suddenly his engine caught fire as he exited Turn 20. The long-time race leader limped home into the pits, disappointed that he was unable to convert his pole into his first win of 2022. Octavius Clearwater would be going home disappointed as well, with yet another unreliability problem ending his race.

Henri Makitalö had put on hard tires early in the race to go to the end. And once the leaders began to make their second round of stops, the Valkean rookie stayed out. This gamble thrust him into 3rd place behind van Grol and Blake, which turned into 2nd once van Grol retired. But beginning on Lap 63, he began to drop off in pace, allowing Dichter to pass him on the following lap. To add insult to injury, Santoro passed him as well on the last lap.

Having gone from 8th to 1st in what is sure to be one of her greatest drives, Lauren Blake had surged through the pack to take her 4th win of the season and Driver of the Day. Bram Dichter brought home points of Raamaker with a P2 finish, while Santoro gets 3rd. Hudnall's 6th place for Urbina finally brought home their first points since they returned to the sport this year, shooting them up the Constructors' Standings to P9. We'll be seeing you next time at the Azmir Grand Prix!

Welcome once again to the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! We're here in the Empire of Trellin for Round 8: the Azmir Grand Prix! With a third of the calendar already done, it's been first blood for Sidus and Lauren Blake, who continue to lead the championship into this round. Can they continue to hold their advantage over Raamaker and Bram Dichter as we begin this middle third of races starting right here in the outskirts of Tegari? Let's stick around to find out!

The Arika Circuit was constructed in the 1980s for motorcycle racing, a popular motorsport in Trellin. However, it has only begun to host AstyF1 as recently as 2016, with Steven Grey taking victory that year. Since then, it has continued to be on the calendar with several stand-out moments for fans and challenges for teams. Both driver and car have to contend with the searing heat of the Trellinese sun, with average temperatures going above 30ºC.

Despite that, the heat hasn't seemed to dissuade drivers from going over the limit in past grands prix, nor fans from attending the race to support their favorite racing stars. With a combination of flowing sections of track and the recent generation of ground effect cars, you can expect that the racing will be close and the opportunities for overtaking to be many. We hope that you're ready for some action here, because we sure are!

Mercifully, Saturday came around with some clouds overhead, giving the drivers a window of relief from the soaring temperatures. Yet the intensity of qualifying remained hot as each car was driven to the absolute limit here. Lauren Blake looked quick throughout the session, securing pole position in both sessions despite a bit of a moment around Turn 5. Her championship rival Bram Dichter wasn't too far behind though, only 4/100ths of a second behind.

His teammate, Robert van Grol, will be starting in 3rd on the grid, followed by LZS's Stefan Lakowski. Phaeton secured the 3rd row of the grid for themselves, with the young and impressive Decius Whitewall ahead of wily veteran Gianpiero Santoro.

Urbina's run of form from the previous grand prix seemed to carry over into qualifying here, as Dominic Hudnall and Mitchell Townsend set the 7th and 9th fastest time in Q3. Splitting the two is Henri Makitalö, who continues to extend his Q3 streak in P8. On the other hand, Guy Bassett has had a less-than-stellar weekend, only managing P11 between the MacGregors. But perhaps the one with the most disappointing qualifying of all is Ivan Jovanović, who was way off the pace from his teammate.

Week 8: Race

Event: Azmir Grand Prix

The race began in the blistering heat, and Blake had a horrible start, dropping behind both Raamakers off the line. Lakowski and Whitewall also fell back, losing out to Santoro on the back straight. The Monsan looked to get another place by challenging Blake on the second lap, but she was able to fend him off going into Turn 1. More drama ensued as van Grol went too wide and onto the gravel at Turn 5, which allowed Blake to take the place back.

Whitewall seemed to be holding his own well until his engine started to sputter on Lap 6. As car after car overtook him, he had to make a painful return to the pits to retire. This left Santoro as Phaeton's only hope to get points. However, with Dichter and Blake steadily leaving the rest of the pack behind, he could most likely be seeing 3rd.

MacGregor was banking on the undercut being a powerful tool and became the first to make their stops on Lap 16. Other cars were reluctant to follow suit, but soon had to also pit as tire degradation was progressing faster than anticipated. As a result, Prescott shot up the order to P5 and stayed there to the end, while van Grol came out in P10 behind Musgrove and Devin Acker. Bassett suffered an extra four seconds in the pits, sending him further down the field when he came out - an uncharacteristic blunder from the Sidus pit crew.

Nicolas von Siedel had been ahead for much of the race, but he was told by the pit wall to switch with Maximilian Frentzen due to him being on fresher rubber. The two Breuers made the switch on Lap 56 and held their positions to the checkered flag. Frentzen went on to form a DRS train between Musgrove and Acker, which seemed to be a major headache for Santoro as he struggled to lap the three cars.

Meanwhile at the front, Blake had put on her second and final stint of mediums and chased after Dichter. She looked like she was going to get the Noordenstaater on Lap 63, but she locked up trying to dive down the inside at Turn 1, allowing Dichter to perform the switchback on her and retain the lead. From then on, Dichter held firm to the end and crossed the line with his first win of the season, gaining maximum points with the fastest lap. Blake was the next to cross the line in 2nd, while Santoro came several seconds later in 3rd.

Van Grol recovered to 7th for Raamaker, which gave the team enough points to retake the lead of the Constructor's Championship. Ahead of him in 6th was Makitalö, who once again finished well for AMZ. Time will tell if this may be the beginning of a booming career in the top level of motorsports. And finally, Prescott's gamble seemed to have paid off with a well-deserved 5th place, giving MacGregor extra points in the fight for the midfield. What a race that certainly was!

Welcome, everybody! We're now heading into Round 9 of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! The show goes on as we begin the Arimathean Grand Prix, held on the historic Karekari racetrack! Built from a disused military airfield outside of Tythim, Karekari was one of Teudallum's oldest and most historic venues for Astyrian motorsport. The track has been part of the calendar since the 1990s after an extensive renovation to bring it up to AstyF1's standards - and it has played host to other major races such as the 12 Hours of Karekari, part of the Astyrian Endurance Championship.

With long straights, fast corners, and a bumpy surface from start to finish, the track has tested the limits of these new generation of cars, which rely heavily on the ground effect for their aerodynamics. Numerous complaints of violent porpoising were brought up last year, leading to some modifications to this year's regulations to minimize the risk to drivers' health. So far the porpoising problem has been managed well in other tracks, but Karekari will prove to be the major test if these new rules have worked.

Sidus can't afford to relax here, despite leading the Constructors' Championship going into this round. Raamaker is only just two points behind, and they could easily come away from this race and retake that lead. In the Drivers' Championship, Bram Dichter's victory in Arika Circuit ensures that he has whittled away at Lauren Blake's points buffer. While she still has enough points to stave off her closest rival for a little while longer, a race retirement could easily wipe out her championship lead. Which driver and team will come out on top here in Arimathea? Let's find out!

The Phaetons looked quick throughout the weekend. Gianpiero Santoro was the fastest driver on the track, leading in all three qualifying sessions to take pole position here. Blake will be starting alongside him on the front row, having gone a quarter of a second slower. Santoro's teammate, Decius Whitewall, set the 3rd fastest time of the day in Q3, followed by MacGregor's Conway Prescott and Raamaker's Robert van Grol. Dichter was just behind his teammate in 6th.

The Kappaksturslid duo of Maríón Álfheiður and Ólafur Guðestersson performed well and were rewarded P7 and P8 for their efforts. Optimism is high in the paddock - maybe this time the independent Nynorsk team can use this opportunity to get enough points to crawl out of last place.

Guy Bassett has once again had a dismal qualifying, only wringing out enough pace to get 11th place. When he got out of the car, he remarked that the porpoising on his Sidus was so great that it affected his reaction times. Stefan Lakowski, who just missed out on Q3, also complained of similar issues with his car. It looks like there is still a long way to go before porpoising fades away as a major problem for AstyF1's drivers.

Conditions: Light Showers

Nation: ARM
Circuit: Karekari (The Sedges)
Event: Arimathean Grand Prix
Safety Car Deployed on Laps: 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
Cars on Grid: 24

To contrast with Arika Circuit's searing heat, Sunday in Karekari began with some light showers. As a result, the cars would begin the race on intermediate tires. At the race start, Santoro had an excellent start and started to get away from Blake, leaving a plume of mist behind him, while Dichter jumped van Grol off the line. Prescott tried to have a go at Whitewall down the back straight, but the Confederate was able to hold him off.

The weather remained unpredictable from start to finish. There were certain moments where it looked like the track would dry out to allow for slicks, but eventually another shower would come and keep them on their intermediates for longer. Some drivers eventually pitted midway through the race once their tires had worn off, while others were able to keep them going for as long as possible. Aleksander Valiny and Sarah Musgrove were able to move up several places and gain track position in the ever-changing conditions.

On Lap 24, Álfheiður aquaplaned at Turn 16 and crashed out at the very last corner, hitting the Techpro barrier and bringing out yellow flags. In the midst of the chaos, Bassett nearly lost control and overtook Hudnall in the process, which saw him get a 5-second penalty from Race Control. Devin Acker was the next to go off at that same corner, further extending the Safety Car period for another two laps. The race resumed on the 31st lap, by which Prescott made a daring send on Dichter into Turn 3, gaining 3rd for the time being.

However, the Aswickan's shot at a podium didn't last, as he was unable to brake into Turn 7. Prescott went straight on into the runoff area, hitting a bollard and damaging his front wing. He tried to continue on for another lap, thinking the damage wasn't serious. But the MacGregor pitwall forced him to pit for a new nose, dropping him down to 9th place.

Octavius Clearwater stayed out for a mighty long time, moving as far up as 4th at one point, before having to drop back down on Lap 49 to fulfill his single mandatory pit stop. As a result he would finish in 6th, bringing in Angelbridge's biggest points haul of the season.

More retirements followed, as van Grol took too much kerb and spun out at Turn 5 - his car coming to rest in the barrier. The collision broke his rear suspension, knocking him out of the race. Not long after, Maximilian Frentzen slid off at Turn 10, causing his own retirement. Both resulted in Virtual Safety Car periods for a few laps.

The Arimathean Grand Prix came to a close with Gianpiero Santoro completing a dominant victory over his rivals. He would have gotten his second Grand Slam, were it not for 2nd placer Lauren Blake stealing the fastest lap of the race right at the end. Decius Whitewall's 3rd place made it a double podium for Phaeton, which means that they have reeled in the top two in the Constructors' Championship. We can't wait to see how this season unfolds at the next race at the Astyrian Grand Prix!

Welcome to Round 10 of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! As we come to the halfway point of this season, we bring you a special grand prix this weekend, the Grand Prix of Astyria. This year it comes to the northerly nation of Caledonia, with the motorsports gladiators doing battle at the historic Strathwood Circuit. This four-and-a-half-kilometer ribbon of tarmac in the midst of the Caledonian woods was constructed at the infancy of grand prix racing, with races going as far back as the 1950s.

Once a Formula One staple in the 1960s and 1970s, it featured a blast into the boreal forest at very high speeds. However, it soon developed a reputation for violent accidents and driver fatalities. This, along with heavy financial losses on the part of the track owners, led to AstyF1 dropping the circuit from the calendar in 1981. Since then, it has been refurbished to hold other national and regional motorsport events. It even made a return to the sport as the Astyrian Grand Prix in 2003, where it first debuted its current layout that is also being used this year.

While there is little to no elevation change throughout the track, Strathwood Circuit makes up for it with unpredictable weather, high speeds, and a surface full of bumps and abrasive sections that degrade tires quickly. With violent porpoising incidents still fresh in the mind of teams, drivers, and fans, there is a chance that there may be more of the same throughout the weekend. Whoever will be able to manage the tricky conditions best will triumph on Sunday - the question is: who will that be?

Robert van Grol looked to be on form throughout qualifying, setting the fastest times in Q1 and Q2. On the other hand, it looked like his teammate, Bram Dichter, was struggling, unable to outpace the Siduses of Lauren Blake and Guy Bassett. However, he was able to get 2nd in Q3 and start on the front row, thanks to a tow he received from van Grol.

Blake also benefitted from a tow, running behind Bassett in the final minutes and getting onto pole position. However, she will be starting the Astyrian Grand Prix on soft tires, which may come back to bite her in the race. Bassett will be starting in 4th on the mediums, which may be better suited to the track surface, but there's still a chance that Blake could change to a more aggressive strategy to make up the difference on the track.

Gianpiero Santoro and Decius Whitewall have had a disappointing qualifying, ultimately putting their Phaetons 8th and 9th behind the MacGregors and the Delaney of Devin Acker. Stefan Lakowski is another one that has struggled, only managing the 15th fastest time.

The lights went out on the Astyrian Grand Prix. Thanks to her softs, Blake had a tremendous start, while Bassett managed to jump van Grol off the line. Despite losing out to both Phaetons in the first-lap scramble - with Santoro passing him down the back straight and Whitewall making his own move not long after - Acker was able to maintain position throughout the first phase of the race, only dropping down during his scheduled pit stops. Once his competitors made theirs later on in the race, he would go back up to where he was.

Conway Prescott and Sarah Musgrove were holding position well, and it would look like they would haul a decent amount of points by the race's end. However, a hydraulics failure for Prescott ended his race and brought out a VSC. This triggered the first round of pitstops for most of the field.

One of the few drivers who didn't stop was Blake, who was leading the race until she was forced to pit for hards on Lap 11, relinquishing the lead to Dichter. However, the degradation of her tires was greater than the Sidus paddock thought, and so they had to bring her in for mediums so she can go to the end. In her second stop, one of the pit mechanics struggled to replace her right rear tire, costing her places to Bassett and van Grol. Now it looked like she had all the work to do.

She was able to deal with the Noordenstaater quickly and took several laps to catch up to her teammate. Once she got close to Bassett, she immediately challenged him for 2nd place. But on Lap 65, Sidus ordered her to hold position, worried that her mediums may not last any longer.

Ivan Jovanović suffered a glitch with his gearbox on Lap 55, losing 6th gear in the process. With instructions from his race engineer, he was able to sort it out, but Acker was able to pass him by in the meantime. The Nikolian set off after him, nearly getting the move done into the Turn 5 hairpin. But Acker saw him go wide and responded with a switchback maneuver.

Bram Dichter came across the line to claim his 2nd victory of 2022, followed by both Sidus cars. Guy Bassett finished ahead of Lauren Blake and claimed the fastest lap of the race. Robert van Grol finished outside of the podium but was able to gain enough points to help Raamaker close the gap to Sidus in the Constructors' Championship. We hope you've enjoyed this year's Astyrian Grand Prix!

Welcome back to the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! We're now at the halfway point of the season, having witnessed the beginning of a new and exciting championship battle between Lauren Blake and Bram Dichter. As we head into the dazzling lights of the ViZion Grand Prix, this battle remains as fiercely contested as ever. Will the second half be as intense and exciting as the first? Let's find out!

But first, we'll be taking a look at the venue of this grand prix: the Hammock Beach Circuitway, located near the city of Kirkland. Built on reclaimed land by the sea, this monument to ViZionarian prosperity and opulence has been on the calendar since 2010. The track features a man-made marina where Astyria's plutocrats moor their yachts and get a good view of the cars, as well as a five-star hotel overlooking the course for staying guests. The race itself is held at night, where the lights of the hotel and of the track give the grand prix a special atmosphere once the sun goes down.

However, the circuit has earned a reputation over the years for being difficult to overtake due to its layout. Last year, certain sections were modified to help make more opportunities for closer racing, which has improved the show substantially. Time will still tell if these modifications will help improve the show under the lights at ViZion's premier racetrack.

Qualifying at Hammock Beach proved to be a chaotic affair, thanks to several strange events throughout all three sessions. Nicolas von Siedel was set to move on to the next round when Octavius Clearwater spun out in the middle of the pit straight, bringing out yellow flags and knocking him out of Q1. Meanwhile, both MacGregors struggled with their pace and were knocked out in Q2, with Conway Prescott finishing in P14 and Sarah Musgrove in P18.

With six minutes left into Q3, Ivan Jovanović lost control at Turn 14 and crashed into the wall, bringing out the red flag. When the session resumed, Dominic Hudnall was caught out by a gust of wind and spun around at Turn 5, bringing out another yellow flag. Lauren Blake looked set to be on the front row, but had her lap time deleted for running wide out of Turn 9. Then finally, with one minute left on the clock, Bram Dichter locked up his brakes and crashed out at the Turn 6-7 chicane, ending the session early.

This did not sit well with his championship rival, Blake, who at the time looked set to claim pole position - she will have to settle for P6. Meanwhile, Decius Whitewall was lucky to set a competitive time and will be starting at the very front, setting a time of 1:40.413.An even luckier driver, Devin Acker, will be starting alongside him in 2nd. Grizzled race veterans Guy Bassett, Robert van Grol, and Stefan Lakowski rounded out the remaining Top 5 positions.

The race began at sunset and the cars immediately jockeyed for position into the first turn. Bassett had an excellent start and jumped Acker into the first turn. He then switched his attention to Whitewall, overtook him into Turn 5, and built an early lead. Blake and Dichter made up some positions as well, and by the end of the first lap they got up to 3rd and 4th respectively. Dichter would later pass Blake on Lap 5 to gain 3rd.

Acker fell back considerably during the start, losing out to more cars within the first four corners. Upon reaching Turn 5, he collided with Whitewall and caused both to lose parts of their front wings. Acker went back to the pits on the 2nd lap for a nose change and emerged at the very back of the pack. The stewards saw no reason to penalize either of the drivers for the incident, and so both carried on. Whitewall would make his own stop on Lap 16, changing his nose as well.

Van Grol began to inch closer to Bassett over the first few laps before finally passing him on Lap 7. He would continue to hold the lead for several laps until he was told to pit on Lap 19. However, when he emerged from the pits, Dichter had inherited the lead of the race, while Blake had managed to jump him thanks to her undercut two laps earlier. From then on, the 2016 Drivers' Champion would be staring at her rear wing for the rest of the race, unable to pass.

He nearly made the overtake on Lap 28 by outbraking her into Turn 6, but he went straight on and cut the chicane, forcing him to relinquish his position back to Blake. He tried again on the next lap, but Blake still held on.

Urbina looked like they had serious pace at their home grand prix, with Hudnall running ahead of his teammate, Mitchell Townsend, at the start. The young Aswickan rookie looked like he had more pace than his more experienced teammate and so they were told to switch positions on Lap 36.

On Lap 47, Henri Makitalö's car sputtered to a halt on the long back straight, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car. Once his car was cleared, Dichter managed to regain his massive gap, while Blake was once again under attack from van Grol. Bassett was also looking to fight them for positions of his own but gradually fell back. Whitewall immediately went on the offensive against Hudnall, yet failed to make the move stick around Turn 5. Townsend on the other hand began to pull away from the dueling pair and maintained a decent gap.

The checkered flag waved to a celebratory Dichter, who claimed his second victory in a row. 16 seconds later, Blake once again came in 2nd place, while van Grol was right behind her in 3rd. Raamaker's good performance meant that they retook the lead of the Constructors' Championship. Townsend and Hudnall went across the line in a shocking P5 and P6 for Urbina, shooting them up into the midfield. The 2nd half of the 2022 season looks like it's going to bring us more entertaining races - we hope to see you soon for the Nynorsk Grand Prix!

Welcome everyone to the 12th Round of the 2022 Astyrian Formula One Championship! We're back from summer break and ready to kick off the second half of this thrilling season - starting with the Nynorsk Grand Prix at the Snjór Kappaksturbraut (or the Magnusson Circuit if you aren't a native Nynorsk speaker). Despite its modern trappings, the circuit first emerged as an immensely long course that rose and fell with the boreal terrain outside of the capital, Magnusson.

The 20+ kilometer layout was labeled as one of the most dangerous racetracks in Astyria, claiming the lives of several drivers throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The safety issue got so bad that AstyF1 stopped racing there in 1974. It was only after a dramatic shortening of the circuit that the sport finally returned in the 1992 season. Since then, it has become a favorite among drivers due to its challenging elevation changes and flowing corners.

Many memorable moments have been created in this little bit of the Nynorsk forest - 7x AstyF1 champion Augustus Tertullius impressed with a spectacular wet-weather performance to take victory, even as rivals fell away due to the treacherous conditions. John Callaghan did the same in similar conditions on his way to become the 2008 Drivers' Champion. And in 2015, Simo Rassinen cruised to victory after fending off a hard-charging Steven Grey, despite the Valkean hanging on to old tires. Could this season add another magic moment to the list? Stick around and find out!

Sidus came back over the summer break with a new spec of car for championship leader Lauren Blake. The results were immediate - Blake went to work and consistently topped the time sheets. However, on her final qualifying run in Q3, she nearly lost control of the car in the 2nd sector, ruining her lap time. Bram Dichter looked set to capitalize on her mistake and get ahead of her, but lost out on pole by 2/1000ths of a second. His teammate, Robert van Grol, put his Raamaker in 3rd, while Decius Whitewall and Conway Prescott will be starting P4 and P5, respectively.

Mitchell Townsend made a big impression on Saturday, getting himself in front of Gianpiero Santoro to claim P6 - several places ahead of his teammate, Dominic Hudnall. Devin Acker has done the same, getting in front of LZS's Stefan Lakowski to take the 10th starting place. The same cannot be said for Guy Bassett, whose qualifying form continues to be less-than-stellar with a P12 start.

The Kappaksturslid cars failed to make it into Q3, with Maríón Álfheiður in P19 and Ólafur Guðestersson in P14, respectively. However, the team is confident that they will be able to make up places and claim a points finish at their home race.

The race is a go at Magnusson Circuit and Blake disappears into the distance, helped by Dichter and van Grol jostling for position into the first corner. Whitewall suffered a poor start and dropped behind Prescott and Townsend. Santoro looked to overtake him as well, but a clumsy overtake in Turn 7 resulted in the Phaetons colliding, damaging the Monsan's front wing. The stewards chose not to penalize either driver for the incident - much to Santoro's chagrin, who believed he was pushed wide by his teammate.

Due to the red cars' infighting, Musgrove slid past Santoro at the Laakkonen-S and did the same to Whitewall down the back straight. She continued to push on past Ivan Jovanović on the next lap and Townsend after that, slotting in behind her teammate. MacGregor were on impressive form in this race, and it looked like they were going to challenge for victory.

On Lap 11, Octavius Clearwater is out of the race due to a gearbox issue, bringing out the VSC. Whitewall soon joins him on Lap 15, pulling into the pits due to damage to his floor. Three laps later, Musgrove is told to enter the pits for her first tire change, while Prescott was told to stay out. Musgrove managed to jump both Raamakers out of the pits, thanks to her undercut, and slotted nicely into 2nd when Blake made her own pit stop. Both MacGregors were now leading the race.

However, it began to fall apart for the Aswickan team. Prescott entered the MacGregor pit box on Lap 28, but the crew struggled to put on his rear left tire, costing him several seconds. He emerged from the pits in 7th place, determined to make up for the lost time. In his hurry to get back to the lead, he clipped too much kerb and spun out at the final chicane, losing him even more places. Musgrove on the other hand was handed the lead, which she held for several laps. Meanwhile, Blake had managed to get past van Grol on Lap 37 and was closing in on Dichter.

Musgrove pitted for her final stop on Lap 42, retaining the lead. Blake continued her charge towards the front, getting past Dichter on Lap 48. By Lap 54, she was right behind Musgrove's rear wing and challenged for the lead. The two women drivers fought hard in the dying stages of the race, but Blake eventually made the pass on Lap 57. Musgrove soon found herself under attack from Dichter as well - this time she held on to the end.

Thus, Lauren Blake crossed the line to take her 5th win of the season, with Sarah Musgrove in 2nd and Bram Dichter in 3rd. Gianpiero Santoro claimed the fastest lap of the race in finished in 7th place - a dismal outcome for Phaeton. Maríón Álfheiður crossed the line in 10th place and gained Kappaksutrslid's solitary point from the race. With Bassett having climbed up to 6th, Sidus is once again leading the Constructors' Championship, with only a single point separating them from Raamaker. We hope you've enjoyed the Nynorsk Grand Prix as much as we did - see you in Noordenstaat in two weeks' time!
