The One Thing

According to atlas, Burundi is the poorest country in the world. At less than 400 dollars per person, I can believe it. The central African country has held the title for some time, occasionally clambering slightly highly only due to a nearby country's misfortune.

Luckily, you can do ONE thing to improve their situation. It can be just about anything: a big infrastructure project, governmental change, societal reform. But the goal is to improve the situation for this country as much as you can.

What would you do? Whats the one thing that would most improve Burundi's terrible poverty?

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Like most people in North America I know little to nothing about Burundi. I think they have some mineral wealth (gold?) and lots of conflict.

Presumably letting the Chinese open a mine would make them instantly wealthier. That would be my guess.

Scratch serious ideas. Turn graphs showing national poverty into an NFT, and then sell it at auction, using the money to build a golden pyramid.

Change the way 'wealth' is defined.

Change its history.

I mean, all the other options that would really benefit them, I am just as incapable of doing.
