[Official] GenSec Nominations

Postby Bananaistan » Thu Dec 09, 2021 4:15 am

Due to inactivity, Sciongrad has been removed from GenSec.

As in previous rounds, GenSec is inviting nominations from the community. Previous nominees will be considered again if still active. We'd ask that players making nominations consider the activity level of their nominee.
Delegation of the People's Republic of Bananaistan to the World Assembly
Head of delegation and the Permanent Representative: Comrade Ambassador Theodorus "Ted" Hornwood
General Assistant and Head of Security: Comrade Watchman Brian of Tarth
There was the Pope and John F. Kennedy and Jack Charlton and the three of them were staring me in the face.

Sorry to hear Sciongrad has been removed. He always seemed to be an excellent player and I'm sad we never had the opportunity to interact.

With that being said, I nominate Wallenburg and Imperium Anglorum.

First nominee is Wayneactia; second nominee is literally any other active WA member that isn't Tinhampton.

Well, I have looked through a little here and there, but I will say with confidence that Tinhampton will make a very good GA Sect and will be a worthy addition to the team. Before I say anything else, I would also like to take this time to preface that I am not influenced by anyone to say these; all of these came from my personal opinion and from looking through a little deeply. Not that deep, but deep enough. With that out of the way, let's get started.

It's undeniable that Tin has contributed a lot to the GA and SC scene. 10 GA Resolutions that passed, 6 SC Resolutions that passed, 1 Issues published, and many, many drafts that strewn and adorn both the forums. And a lot of folks supported it - past, present, or otherwise. The fact that she managed to get 16 of them was already amazing, because we all have our first draft struggles and the like. A side mention is how she can be seen in other forums - she even is in NS Sports, but that's not the main focus. My point here is - she contributed a lot, and I am more than happy to recommend someone such as her even if I am aware that I don't visit GA and SC that often and I might not have a lot of voice.

With that said, it's time to get slightly into the quirks that Tin has from my personal observation. She is still a wonderful person OOCly and will make a great addition. However, even when observing from a distance, I understand that she does not really make a lot of good impression with some people and I know where they are coming from. For one, I will have to admit that some of the proposals that Tin made were rather unorthordox and needed a lot of polishing. And even though she always listens to constructive criticism, she went through with submissions a few too many times that resulted in quite a handful of defeats on the voting grounds.

Overall, I am aware and understand that who I am picking have faults, but just like everyone else, Tinhampton can improve from this and ultimately, she will be able to hone her skills as a regular player AND a GA Sect. The negatives can be balanced out by her simply not spamming and would always draft - always trying out something even if it might not work. I would rather have someone who tries things and is determined and confident. And Tinhampton is exactly that.

Hulldom.

When the Secretariat last had an open seat two-and-a-half years ago - in the midst of yet another rush of nigh-identical nominations - one of its remaining five members declared that they were looking for "activity, familiarity with the ruleset, analytical skills, and ability to work with the team" in the appointee. I firmly believe that Hulldom possesses all of these quantities.

One of 2021's most prolific and consistent authors, he has also proven able to deliver thankfully clear feedback as well as to incorporate well-meaning suggestions into his own drafts. In addition, he has also shown himself to be ready and willing to call out potential illegalities and (on occasions) how they can be fixed where the situation demands it.

And although I have no involvement with The North Pacific's WA Ministry, his work there in helping to oversee and support many others who are interested in this body - some prominent, some nondescript - will no doubt prove to be ample work experience for occasionally long, occasionally hard negotiations about whether to nod a proposal through or consign it to the recycle bin of GA history.

Hulldom is not necessarily the most popular, most prolific, or most experienced of the nominees. I am, however, entirely convinced that he will be a fair, diligent and level-headed Secretariat member if appointed; one who, like the five accepted before him, can and will put personal belief aside to ensure that justice is done and the Rules are followed. He is certainly the person I can trust the most to fill Sciongrad's seat - a new titan to replace an old one.

WTF with all the nominations for Wayneactia? Are we still going to pretend we don’t know who Wayneactia is just because no one can prove it? Okay, fine then. I’ll play along. Wayneactia is too new to the GA and is not an author and should be given absolute zero consideration.

No one is more qualified than IA. Personally I don’t particularly like IA and IA’s comments can be condescending at times but no one knows the rules or can explain a challenge better than IA.

I mean, yeah, as long as we're required to observe that fiction, might as well run with it. Wayenactia is just GH with extra sodium, anyway, and they were seen fit to join the team.

For my part, it's the nominations for Hulldom that are baffling given they've clearly shown they do not understand the difference between OOC and IC, which should be absolutely 101 stuff.

Oh, and I forgot. I'd also like to nominate Araraukar.

I Agree with Valentine-Z in practically everything said. I second the nomination for Tinhampton, but I also further nominate Imperium Anglorum for GenSec. Both would be extremely valuable additions to that team.
