Never really the flag of any independent Dutch state and like Blast mentioned ruined by the Nazis with the added caveat that South Africa helped cement that ruined status.

Personally, based solely on design alone, I like the old Dutch flag. Orange is a color seldom used, and I think the Dutch pulled it off quite well. Then, there's the humorous historical plus of the orange eventually fading to red, which they eventually got tired of changing and left as red. This spawned the Russian flag, based upon the Dutch design, which in turn became the Pan-Slavic colors used today by Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and, obviously, Russia.

Plus, the Dutch still seem quite fond of orange as their national color. It's always neat to have colors not used by half of all other nations, y'know?

The old Dutch flag looks a lot like the current one. I guess it's too bad that it was some "the royal family is better than everyone" symbol that got used by Nazis otherwise maybe they'd still use it.

The flag of the Russian Liberation Army is the same flag as the current Russian Navy flag. Same as the flag of the short-lived Ukrainian National Government and the current flag of Ukraine. Just because a flag was used by the Nazis does not mean it is permanently ruined.

You're not getting my point; the fact that they were adopted (with alterations) for those uses was through no fault of the flag itself.
