The virus exists in TS canon, but it never made it to the country. Red China was already under embargo and TS, being doubly landlocked aside from her vassals and a port exclave that had been bombed, had full control over all points of entry. Fearing the worst before the worst came to be, TurtleShroom implemented strict border requirements and screenings months before the events of March occured. Anyone who went to a country where COVID was active was quarantined for three weeks- this quarantined millions of travelers at some point or another -and successfully stopped the country from getting it.

TurtleShroomers have long been pro-vaccine and almost all TurtleShroomers are vaccinated regardless of species, but any mandate to get one is met with intense and bitter backlash. Aside from the more conformist Oriental population (all of whom either fled dictatorships or survived a genocide in the northm or both), any mask mandates would be next to impossible to sell even among those who chose to wear masks.

TurtleShroom is looking to purchase a vaccine to inoculate its human population. No scientific evidence exists concerning the virus being transmissble in turtles.

Social distancing was strongly encouraged in most public settings but never formally required - and all internal coronavirus restrictions in Tinhampton were mysteriously lifted three days before the election in March 2021 anyway.

COVID-19 did effect Thermodolia. However due to Thermodolian experience with previous SARS outbreaks and other pandemics the government was able to minimize the damage.

The borders where closed in mid February and have still remained closed until the pandemic is declared over. For the rest of February a national shelter in place order was issued and those exhibiting signs of Covid where taken to quarantine centers. From the beginning of March until May a strict mask mandate was in effect.

All pandemic related preventions, with the exception of the closed border, where lifted in the middle of May after the government went two weeks without being able to find a single person with Covid in the nation.

As soon as the vaccines where ready, the government mandated that all citizens, Thermodolian Nationals, and all non-citizens living in Thermodolia must get the vaccine for face a felony conviction and still receive the vaccine as federal law requires all convicted persons to be fully vaccinated.

For the most part the vast majority of Thermodolians complied with the restrictions though there where a few groups who didn’t and attempted to refuse the vaccine but their protest got nowhere. In Thermodolia it is a felony to produce and to disseminate anti-vaccination propaganda, in addition there are no religious exceptions for vaccinations. As such all anti-vaccine movements where halted in their prime.

However there have been a few restrictions which have caused concern among the media, such as the homeless health program. Under the terms of the program the federal government rounded up all homeless persons and quarantined them all in an old military base. They where given a warm bed, three meals a day, healthcare and entertainment, and a private space. However they where forbidden from leaving the compound until the pandemic was under control/Thermodolia was fully vaccinated.

In early 2020, Hanvaria experienced a surge in cases, reaching over 12 million active cases in May 2020 alone. In June, Cole Albequois declared that all non-essential workers be put under indefinite quarantine, initiating the National Rations Program, distributing food and water to people in quarantine. By the time Pfizer's vaccine was announced, Hanvaria has began rolling out Pfizer for a vaccine. By February 2021, only around 800,000 people were infected and around 1,200 had died. Now, there are only around 1,000 cases.

For the record, in an alternative timeline where Covid is a thing the government would have responded by:

• Immediately shutting the borders
• Instigating a strict lockdown that lasted until there were no more community cases
• Returning citizens to isolate in purpose-built facilities (namely former military bases, etc.)
• Once vaccines were a thing, strict rules are introduced meaning that anyone who chooses not to be vaccinated will not be allowed access to the public health system - they'll have to pay for their own ventilators, etc.
• Mask use is mandated based on the risk of Covid in the community - if there are cases, or a lockdown, it becomes compulsory, otherwise not needed.
• Spreading Covid misinformation would also carry a fine

Basically it would be similar to real life New Zealand's response, but slightly stricter - especially on non-vaccinated people.

The initial outbreak would have seen a few thousand cases and a few hundred deaths, but following lockdown cases would be mostly near zero and outbreaks would be concentrated to large cities, especially Tamaki.

I haven't included Covid in Radiatia's canon but annoyingly I had planned a plot before the pandemic which bore remarkable similarity to real life (and is one of many examples of me predicting real world events via Nationstates).

My original plot was that a deadly virus would emerge in the Radiatian state of Diifgrao as a result of extremely bad hygiene practices at a local Greasy Joe's restaurant which would then spread across Radiatia and the region, killing a huge number of people.

The result would initially be the quarantine of the state of Diifgrao, but it would soon spread to Radiatia's largest city of Exegrad and wreak havoc until a vaccine could be found.

In regards to both this fictional virus and Covid, Radiatia's response would be to lockdown affected areas strictly and do all the usual things - masks, vaccines, etc.

However, anti-lockdown protestors and conspiracy nuts would, unlike certain real world countries, find themselves under arrest for gross public inefficiency and anti-vaxxers would find themselves interred in mass graves without any access to healthcare as they'd be in breach of the constitutional bill of responsibilities.

Basically, Radiatians may be stupid, but they're not insane - lockdown and vaccinate until it goes away.

The Covid epidemic is canon, although it happened 223 years in the past and during the time of a much more dangerous, and widespread disease known as the Great European Plague of 2016, which lasted until the year 2051. Covid barely had any impact due to the measures already taken by the world to combat this even deadlier plague.

Coronavirus didn’t cause a shut down of everything and for the most part life was normal. In The Jamesian Republic at least there was about 1,000 cases. However for those who did get the virus some died and some had a really hard time combatting it. So a vaccine was made and people got vaccinated.

To beg8n with, instead of spending money and place to tend to older people suffering from the disease, they were often outright ordered to commit seppuku because giving them life support was not viewed as a sustainable solution, especially given their extremely limited use in terms of military and economical power. A Type-7 (biological hazard) state civilian defense security order was initiated, however, instead of lockdowns, they brought something much worse- state-supplied civilian CRBN suits which soon became mandatory to wear. Almost at the start of the global pandemic, Lakan own vaccine has started to be developed, however, with it being tested on humans (again because human life here is viewed as expendable as long as it’s honorable, sacrificial and economically sustainable) the development of it was somewhat faster with the rest of the world, ending just a bit too after Russian Sputnik-V. Of course vaccination was declared mandatory, with those who rejected forced to commit Honorable Death. Of course side effects were know, however because of the damage from early vaccination being less than from further employing restrictive methods, forced vaccination it was. Yes. Covid 19 exists. We manage to procure vaccines. As of now, almost 20% of population are infected with Covid at a 4.5% positivity rate but there are few deaths and hospitalizations. Vaccinations are optional but some states require them. 85% of the population have been vaccinated either with a booster or two doses either through effective messaging or vaccination mandates. There are no mask mandates. To prevent the elderly dying, the old are mandated to wear masks and stay at home, isolated from others until vaccines are widely available. If anyone tries wearing a mask, they are looked down upon because they look stupid when vaccinations are already available and effective against Covid 19. Counties and states can't impose a mask mandate also as the government bans the local government from imposing mask mandates. No businesses are prohibited from opening. However, in times when we had pandemics, we have contingency plans to mitigate and contain any epidemics and pandemics. Quarantines, lockdowns, and finding treatments and vaccines to keep cases down and from hospitals getting overwhelmed. Hospitals already have face masks, for staff and sick patients of respiratory disease.
