Does YN have a "Prime Directive" policy?

Postby -The United Federation of Planets- » Sat Oct 30, 2021 11:12 am

For those who don't know what the Prime Directive is, let me summarize. The Prime Directive is a Federation policy that prevents us by law from interacting with primitive civilizations on other worlds, this includes making colonies near them, giving them weapons, attacking them, or doing any sort of imperialist activity which may affect their way of life negatively, the Federation uses the Prime Directive as a means to fight off Imperialism and Colonialism, which has proven to be harmful. Does your nation have a similar policy? If so, does it differ in any way from ours?
-The United Federation of Planets- is a Star Trek-themed Nation set during the 2260s. Although we are based on the Original Series and JJ Abrams movies, the lore is fairly different from what we're based on. We do not used NS-Stats since they were designed to be used by modern nations, they don't fit too well with sci-fi themed ones like the Federation.

Well, we have Protocol XII.

"It is the stated policy of the Supreme Military Government of New Tryphalia that national sovereignty is entirely absolute and sacrosanct, and under no circumstances, pretenses, or other bases shall any legitimate national government or regime be targeted for removal, overthrow, destabilization, or resistance, save for such conditions rendered vital by the national sovereignty, security, and defense of New Tryphalia."
Hellenistic pagan military monarchy with strong patriarchal tendencies, a generous welfare state, powerful trade unions, and a mixed-market economy.

Good morning,
my FT-canon, the Trossach-Confederation has passed something similar into law after the first contact with the (then primitive) Dynnacath and Bwytanach nearly wiped them out. The concern is less in regards to colonialism and imperialism and more in regards to spreading various deseases to unprepared (not necessarily primitive) locals - no one wants an involuntary genocide on the own hands.
However, the law does not strictly define the threshhold of when a civilization is advanced enough to be contacted, and there are exceptions for emergencies (for example when a ship crashes onto a planet).
In general, it is seen as a difficult topic and the Confederation is generally glad, that so far, they only had to call up this law once.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

The closest analogy we have to a "Prime Directive"-esque axiom is the Interworld Revolution policy.

Alien civilizations will be co-opted into embracing All-Unionist concessions until, at some point, the world is able to be unified under an All-Unionist world governance body. This is achieved primarily through soft-power, with active hostile resistance necessitating a hard-power approach or even direct military intervention. The P.U.C.C.R recognizes that its manifest destiny is to liberate all life within the galaxy from tyranny and autocratic oppressions at whatever the cost.

No; it is not something which H.M.’s Government has a fixed policy on.

Well yes, but actually no. We do allow governments and civilians within the Versailles Conference jurisdiction to interact with primitive extraterrestrial civilizations, and the other way around. We, however, have not yet encountered one.

Crossoveria uses a Prime Directive Policy. Imperialism is a big no-no here, and the government refrains from attacking other nations or doing any imperialist activity on them, because we believe that people who have thrived on a certain previously uninhabited plot of land for many years has the right the keep that land, and that we should not try to bring our influence to their land. However, we do supply our allies with weapons if needed sometimes.

We have a policy where we don't contact civilizations that don't want to be contacted like the North Sentinelese. We also don't like Imperialism.

No. The Rwizikuran government has no "prime directive" policy officially, but given that on its peripheries, government control is very weak, the Rwizikuran government does not always have the influence over people living in the border regions that it has in its core.

Yes. There are a chain of islands in the northwestern area of our country that are controlled by the Iwana Peoples, the native population that once dominated our lands. On those islands there are still small groups of traditional fishing villages that only have contact with their modern Iwana cousins living on the mainland. The government does not bother them, rather any communication goes through the Iwana Council to be dictated to those tribes.
