Strengthen Child Labor Laws

Postby Wuhmi » Sun Oct 17, 2021 10:56 am

In ordinance of The Incorporated States of Wuhmi, our officials make plans as to strengthen the labor laws of the Assembly.

I: No child shall work before the age of 14, and until 15 must work at maximum a 20 hour work week.

II: Conditions must be improved in each industry as to allow for less work casualties and for those adolescents who do choose work to be able to operate in a safe manner.

III: If an adolescent is to take part in a more dangerous job, such as construction, they must be payed at the minimum 20 of any given nation’s currency an hour to compensate for the risks.

These laws are made in such a manner that no child should have to suffer under harsh conditions and can be compensated adequately if forced into the work force. We as a people hope these rights are put into the consideration as to protect the world’s future population.

Hi there! First, welcome to the General Assembly. It's awesome that you're already thinking of legislative topics and getting involved.

Having said that, your draft/proposal does not meet the typical structure through which resolutions are presented. I recommend checking out this thread to get some ideas on how to get started with drafting a resolution: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=402103#p31048777

Additionally, I also urge you to look at past resolutions to get an idea of the depth and detail that they usual require. You can view these here by topic: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=381752#p29129941

Best of luck to you, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them.

Exactly where in that does your proposal start? If your text includes that opening line "In ordinance of The Incorporated States of Wuhmi," then it would be Illegal for Branding.
Clause 'I' is illegal for contradiction of existing G.A. legislation, namely G.A. Resolution #299 (clause 4): Since that passed it has been forbidden for newer proposals to set specific age limits for anything.
Clause 'III' ignores the fact that the relative values of nations' currencies can vary so widely -- IC, at least -- that 20 of the basic unit might be a mere pittance in some nations but a small fortune in others. This isn't Illegal, but it's not as useful as you seem to think.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
