WA nation not telling me it is it

Postby Burgermond » Sat Oct 09, 2021 1:33 pm

I am trying to get WA on one of my nations but I cannot. It is saying I already have one. I checked all the most recent ones I used and applies for but none of them had WA. I tried everything.

Do you share a computer with anyone else? Have you accessed NationStates on a public computer?

Search your email for prior WA emails. Go through each of your nations to see if they are WA. Search your web history to see when you joined.

That shouldn't make a difference, the only check at signup uses email.

Try the old ones.

Would a code change be possible for the automated warning to include the current WA nation name?
This situation has arisen for various players several times before.
Thanks!

There's currently no check that a registered email is owned by the person using it. So this could be used to identify a player's nation by their email.

I'll ask.

Thanks!

Just so I understand:
So I could set my email to be "myfriendsaddress@email.com", then apply to the WA.
And if this change had been made, the warning message would show me the name of my friend's WA nation.
Yeah, you're right, that could be a problem.

It's a while since I moved my WA, but as I recall, you can go ahead with the application anyway, and get emailed a link to join. Maybe a better way would be for that email to Include the name of the existing WA nation as well?

That objection was raised by another mod as well.

I've seen cases where raiders / defenders apply for dozens (or more) nations prior to an evening's raid or defense. If the game has to run a search on every application, that might slow things down for that system or even the game.

The best solution, from our perspective, is for players to keep track of their own WA puppets. We've had a few complaints recently where the resigning nation didn't show as resigned in the game engine, and that one requires a mod or tech fix. Other than that, it should really be in the hands of the players.

Cool. Thanks for looking.
I suppose another alternative would be to have a separate "email me the name of my WA nation" button.

If you have it set up to notify you a week before CTE, you can recover your WA nation from the email message, though it will be 30-60 days after last login. Better than nothing.

Could it be a link in the already existing WA message. 'I lost my WA' and not display the nation, but instead email the WA nation name/link to the email address?

I have a doubt. Can I access from the same computer the page of different nations that are part of the WA, but that are registered in different emails?

No. One nation per person, not per computer or email address.

Thank you very munch? Munch munch. :P

EDIT: Otherwise, yeah I agree with All Wild Things that a separate button that sends you an email with your current WA nation would be helpful for situations like these.
