Imperial Reign[OOC/Applications Open!]

This RP is basically focused around a single empire, and all the players within it control essentially a single province. It's essentially medieval in nature, with some fantasy elements here and there. The empire itself is somewhat decentralized at the start, and is controlled by the player Acerbez, but whether it becomes more centralized or fragments into civil war will be up to you.

There are no hard restrictions on what type of government you must have within your province. A military order, a republic, a feudal domain, it's up to you. The only requirements are that you owe your loyalty to the Emperor and pay your tithes, as to do otherwise would be an act of rebellion(Of course, you may choose to do so if you wish, but do note that the Emperor may not respond so kindly). Basically, it's expected that there will be some who support the reigning emperor, some which wish to usurp him, and others who wish to break free from his rule. But what exactly happens in this story is yet to be decided.

At present, only applications for Imperial Subjects will be permitted. In the future, however, after the IC has gotten going and the map itself is filled, foreign states may be allowed. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting though.

Basically this is fairly laissez faire. Go wild and let's see where the journey takes us. If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them.

3. While rules regarding resources/manpower/magic are loose in order to place trust in players, it is expected that you will attempt to remain balanced. Avoid making anything overpowered without a correspondingly grave weakness to compensate. I.e. If you have a huge army relative to your population, your production in other areas should be at a deficit. Just be reasonable and realistic. Ask in OOC if you have questions

Brief History of your Domain:

The flags of the old Comestris burn in the pits. The newest acquisition of the Empire, some say it's underground longs for a Comestris free from military or Empire rule. But that's just a saying.

In the past, Comestris was once a powerful kingdom, controlling lands to the Southeast of the Empire. Unfortunately, the king Constine II allowed loyal dukes and barons to buy land, which would eventually lead to the fall of Comestris. With the passing of time, Comestris fell into a corrupt kingdom, with rich barons and dukes buying off punishments and amassing large pieces of land. Essentially, only a small part of Comestris, the lands around the capital, were controlled by the King of Comestris, with the rest being split off between powerful dukes and barons, more powerful than the king. The dukes and barons formed a secret alliance, only to destroy the kingdom.

With a scret alliance against the king, civil war is sure to happen. And it did. The first signs of a civil war were seen in explosive riots in the mountainous province of , yet the King remained calm. He was sure that his loyal dukes and barons would rush to calm this riot. But they didn't. Instead, these dukedoms and baronies made their alliance public, and with the small armies of the King struggling to mobilise, the Kingdom of Comestris fell with the Siege of Mecklenburg.

With the fall of the Kingdom, the barons and dukes had nowhere to go, so they turned on themselves. The Empire sensed a chance, and sent many legions of soldiers to claim Comestris for themselves. With the overwhelming power of the Empire, the dukedoms and the baronies fell one by one, and eventually, Comestris was claimed as the newest province of the Empire.

Comestris may be a province of the Empire, but the people want out.

Capital City: Mecklenburg
Population: 921K
Military Might: 122K
Other Comments or Requests: With the moderate military might which is over 10% of the total population, Comestris stays afloat barely, producing only just enough crops to feed everyone, about 2% more than it needs. A long locust plague could spell the collapse of this province. Many children are enrolled in military academies, with less people going to traditional universities.

So the province I'd like to play as is Comestris, on the southeast of the map. The capital is circled twice with red. The other dots represent cities.

So the province I'd like to play as is Togeria, on the northeast of the map. The capital is Mecklenburg, and I'd like 2 more coastal cities, one on the small island, and one on the 'trunk' of Togeria. Finally, there is one large city on the river border near the mountains.

I should clarify, the provinces that are coloured, including Togeria, are reserved for people who have committed to the RP but ahve yet to make applications. The light-grey portions of the map are available.

Brief History of your Domain: Demokratia is a relatively new province that long stood as an independent nation. Divided on the issue of slavery, Demokratia fought a long, bloody civil war that saw victory for the moralistic abolitionists led by politician John A. Mattox III. Mattox and his followers have since brought Demokratia to join the Empire with the land remaining more-or-less an independent city-state. The annexation of Demokratia happened largely for economic reasons more than anything else: the Empire needed gold, and Demokratia had plenty of it.
Demokratia has established a multiparty system with John Mattox serving as the sitting Prime Minister. Slavery is totally outlawed, religion and culture are encouraged, and magic is celebrated (though rare). Most people with magic have a singular ability: Dreamsight. Commonly referred to as the Gift, Dreamsight is when people are gifted with premonitions, visions, and dreams while sleeping. Around 1 in 10 people have this rare ability, including the Prime Minister.

Brief History of your Domain: The Grand Duchy of Amuratsi has been apart of the Empire for well over 200 years, but it has still managed to retained their unique culture and even their language, despite the close proximity to the capital. Once a fiercely independent people, now pacified and loyal to the Emperor. The province is ruled by a few dozen noble families of Amur lineage. Rulers are not entirely autocratic since they share their power with the Amuratsi Parliament. Rulers are elected through the Parliament as well. Conflict between the Grand Duke/Duchess and the Parliament is common.

Living in a mountainous and deeply forested province, the people are described as hardy, traditional, and simple. And that is often the case in the countryside, but in the cities of the province high society rules. Art, literature, fashion, and technology thrive there, especially in the capital. Politics dominate the landscape, with many noble families vying for control of cities and land. Each noble family rules a duchy and controls a portion of land. Many traditions, legends, and superstitions exist within Amuratsi society even though they have long abandoned their old faith in favor of the Empire’s. The people of the province are called Amur or Amura, and they grow up speaking Ravatsky along with learning the Empire’s language later on in Youth.

The Vasuk Mountain Range dominates much of the province and is rich in coal and silver. As such, the Grand Duchy of Amuratsi is a major source of coal and silver within the Empire. Amur silversmiths are widely renown around the Empire.

Claim is a little large; I'd be willing to give you most of it minus the Plateau region, if you like(Acer controls two provinces since one, the Capital, is held by whoever controls the Imperial Throne and the other his his home turf). Other than that, it's all good.

Tentatively it has been, I'm afraid. Player has claimed it but I've asked him about cutting down on his claims a little before accepting, so it will probably be taken but it depends on what he says.

Name of your Ruler: Grand Archdruid Dendrobrium Gerbera Qimar, while a somewhat relic of their past (as Druids are the sole ones responsible for their success as a people and their traditional leaders, the name stayed), does adhere to the Empire and its policies.

Brief History of your Domain: Shefmar, the currently most used name for the area, is possibly the oldest region of the Empire, one which stood the tests of time as all changed around them, stays close to its roots despite no longer being an independent state. Its history lay between layers of bog and sediment, only partially reflecting the past, as the modern Shefmar stays quite contemporary to where it once came.

The oldest origins of Shefmar lay within it’s first name recorded: as the “Heart of the Green”, Shefmar was and still is the most agriculturally strongest of nations, starting off as farmsteads that slowly built themselves up into small cities, while soon also becoming one of the largest nations in the area for a time, its bountiful cornucopia being used as its main source of wealth: as well, despite its neighborly approach to the regions around it, Shefmar also had the largest navy by numbers, due to its size and massive amount of rivers and lakes, ironically giving the land locked nation more ports and trade centers than any sea-based nation in the region.

However, as others grew, Shefmar stayed much of the same: it was a crux and a boon to the nation, which at this point was united under its theological rule, of the former main religion of Velurism, the belief that the ones whom bestowed them their bounty and luck walked amongst them as their guardians and teachers.

When the Empire came knocking amongst their doors, they opened them and welcomed them in with no force, angering the rural communities whom had to lose their religion and their identity to integrate within the Empire. Within the people of Shefmar however, there lays an undying spirit within their nation to return their belief of the Velure people, and their traditions and culture.

For now, Shefmar still reigns as the agricultural capital of the empire, with most food, lumber and cattle coming off the area, luxury goods like herbs and spices, alcohol and spirits, medicines, silks, pottery, and more, while also packing the watercraft and such to pack it up and ship it out.

Capital City: Hofndraya, the original unitary city of the communities: formerly the religious capital, now acts as the official capital city of the communities, while being the headquarters of the Shefmar Protection Commission, the “military” of the communities.

Population: 1.2 million

Military Might: 20,000

Other Comments or Requests: Not much else, nope! I’m already on the map (the light blue by all the lakes), so there’s that! Also, minor fact, but due to its association with the Velure, the color blue is banned in most instances unless required.

Really interested in this, I have an odd idea for my app, might not work; I was thinking about doing an app for a sort of Papal States that would have bits of small territories all over the map.

I'm open to the idea, at least. Acer hasn't commented on the thread yet himself but from what I understand he had at least thought of the predominate religion in the empire as being based on Orthodox Christianity. Make of that what you will.

Brief History of your Domain:
Leminkovia was once a land full of divided tribes and peoples, the lands of which were full of battle between those who lived in the Leminkovian Steppes but one day a 100 years ago, the tribals constant conflict was ended once the Empire sent an envoy demanding the tribes subjugate themselves to the Emperor’s rule.

Once the tribes of the Steppes saw this demand they decided to form a united front against the Empire, this Front’s leader was Natalya Garin, the leader of the Garin Clan. Thanks to their newly appointed Vozhdi, the Leminkovians crushed many of the armies sent to their lands until the Empire sent an army of 200,000 men against Natalya’s 50,000 men, Natalya decided to surrender instead of fight knowing that fighting against this army would put an end to any chance of Leminkovian freedom.

The Empire allowed Natalya and her clan to continue ruling the lands and tribes thanks to her ability to lead the Leminkovians despite their wildness and distaste of centralization. Now Leminkovia is known as one of the most loyal to the Empire and its rulers, so loyal that Vozhd Demitri is married to a cousin of the current Emperor.
Capital City: Voingrad
Population: 755,000
Military Might: 35,000
Other Comments or Requests: The Leminkovian’s are known for their deadly Heavy Infantry and effective ability to avoid enemies by simply out maneuvering them, Leminkovia is known for it’s well-bred horses, bountiful sheep farms, and large amount of wild animals for hunting. The lands of Leminkovia are located in the Southern Steppes of the Empire, and the Capital of Voingrad is located on the river tributary.

A lot of it is pretty open ended intentionally. Most of us who have pre-committed to joining in alreayd have a fair bit of fluff for our individual territories but not for the empire as a whole. So you can pretty much do whatever as long as it doesn't trample on other people's lore without asking.

My main question is while I don't mind a preference towards really heavy infantry, I'd like to ask about some more details about what you had in mind regarding their maneuverability.
I'm not actually a communist.

I saw that there magic is allowed in this. I assume as long as it isn't OP it's fine.

I was thinking of some type of Mage Order in the Desert.
