Chiara Montebello zipped down the hallway, pushing diplomats aside - it was a rough first week for the Vice Ambassador's new aide. "Let me through, please let me through," said Chiara in panicked tones.

Her boss, Percy Winslow was already addressing the WA Security Council chamber from the podium. The Unibot delegation was typically given speaking time in WASC around brunch time and bathroom breaks: a slot reserved for pariahs, social media influencers, and other undesirables. This afternoon there were little more than a half dozen ambassadors present.

"One Big Island has distinguished itself as a treasured cultural institution in NationStates for many years as a region remembered by all for its friendly demeanor," said Percy, reading from his written remarks.

His assistant, flailing her hands, caught his eye, and he paused to interpret her charades ... she clasped her hands into a ring shape, then closed the ring, to shrink its size. His voice faltered, "Erm, a ringing endorsement, we can all... GRASP, I am sure..."

Chiara shook her head, no. She held out her fingers: three words. Then she held out another finger: first word. Then another lone finger: One. Percy shouted "ONE!" She nodded frantically, squeezing her fingers together, "TINY!?" shouted Percy, she shook her head... "SMALL!" he said, as she nodded in approval, "ONE SMALL ISLAND!" he exclaimed to the chamber.

"Oh," said Percy, experiencing a small epiphany in full view of the rest of the chamber.

"One Small Island... is a big island... in our hearts," said Percy extratemporaneously. "A nation that is a region in and of itself due to its great accomplishments as a nation ... in a region. Alas, I must yield my remarks today, as I am late for an important appointment. I have to go... geocaching with the Marchioness of Collocoll, erm. But I will conclude by saying my country supports this resolution. The nominee's efforts to bring stability to the warzones have been remarkable. We're confused by the arguments presented by WALL that the proposal lacks sufficient detail: it sounds to me as though they were hoping for a doctorial thesis and are dismissive of the value of contributions outside of their own communities."

Percy concluded his remarks by blowing a raspberry sound at the North Pacific's direction and exiting stage left.

This is a worthwhile target, but an abysmally-written proposal. The grammar is confused, almost unreadable at points. The author refused to incorporate criticism and edits that would have made this passable. I'm amazed that the standards of the Security Council have sank to the point that we're okay giving someone worthy of a commendation such a low quality one, instead of sending it back to the drawing board and making sure it's worthwhile of that target.

Hard against, and I sincerely hope to see this repealed and replaced by something of higher quality in the future.
