Underlying racism in people: Is it really just being soft?

A few months ago a racist bigot named Gypsy Crusader was arrested for having a gun. Though that was not the only thing. He was notorious for being a far rightist and a big supporter of Trump. He is also known to be a homophobe and a racist, and actually profits from bigotry. He sold a toy gun that shot the n word and he uses this prop in his Omegle trolls. He dresses up as the Joker and he trolls people on Omegle. His arrest created lots of backlash by mostly preteen kids. Many people are defending because "he was made this way" and it's the "left's fault" but that is a load of rubbish. It's actually people who watch their favourite YouTubers defending him and they ride on the bandwagon. Antifa did not assault him, and in my opinion he should be executed. He is a liar who plays the victim and unfortunately, it is a losing battle for Antifa. There are far-too-many children who have been brainwashed by his disgusting acts. Now this is the main part of the thread:-

People can't scream racial slurs and expect for others to walk it off in the name of "dark humor". People will criticise it. And it's not being soft for being angry at it. It is justified. This is why free speech should be controlled. Free speech will destroy a nation. I'm not saying that political speech should be banned, I say that racist, fascist, and nazi sympathy should be banned. All internet should be state controlled. No one should have to deal with Nazis and fascist. This is not applicable to America or GB, only in smaller, socialist nations.

Really unsettling how many zoomers believe in controlling speech.

The thing is even if speech should be controlled, there is definitely no one around worthy of controlling it. Like you could argue to me that children should be supervised while playing outside and you maybe could convince me, but if 100% of adult volunteers were convicted sex offenders, that's worse than leaving them unsupervised.

Asking our government to regulate speech is like asking a convicted sex offender to watch children. All the big tech companies are sex offenders in this metaphor too.

Free speech should only ever be curtailed if it infringes on another person's life or freedom. The elimination of this in any other circumstances is the first step of tyranny. You call him a nazi. Nazis also opposed freedom of speech. So do the Taliban which is why it's no surprise they executed a comedian last month for simple jokes.

"Dark" or "Edgy" humor can be hilarious. Especially when wielded by a skilled comedian. Unfortunately a lot of people joke and very few are skilled professionals. Do your teacher a favour and be more coherent about how you approach this topic. It is one of controversy and even if you have good intent, people will only interpret and analyze as much as they can read— so work on how you arguments are constructed.

If its for school, don't rock the boat too much. Don't mention death or call for violence or write anything controversial that might raise red flags. K-12 school districts these days are too zero tolerance or politically correct because of baggage from past incidents like Columbine or other school shootings. Its a bad fit in today's academic climate and might only cause a parent-teacher conference or complaints and harassment from staff/school officials, if not some suspicion that you're on the wrong track.

You've got to know your audience and tailor your writings and etc. to that, even if its not necessarily your true opinion. Go with that and not- whatever this opening post is.

Here's what I hope your teacher wrote on your school paper.

Freedom of speech means that the government cannot punish you for the things you say or how you express yourself in other ways. However, if you perform a criminal act with your speech or expression, you can't claim that freedom of speech insulates you from punishment for your crime. If you perform a criminal act (e.g., illegal possession of a gun) separately from your speech or expression, you also can't claim that your unrelated speech or expression insulates you from punishment for your crime.

Freedom of speech does not mean that private individuals or private companies such as social media or your employer can't take action against you because of what you say or do. If you are banned from social media or fired from your job for shouting racial slurs at people, that is not a violation of your freedom of speech.

Words and acts have consequences sometimes. That is an entirely separate notion from whether or not governments should protect speech and expression.
