All books intended to promote the ideologies of Nazism or fascism are banned from sale to the public under the auspices of the Ban on the Promotion of Nazism and Fascism Act of 1967. This ban does not forbid the usage of these works for educational or scholarly purposes in appropriate settings nor does it criminalise the mere ownership of a pro-Nazi or pro-fascist book, only the sale and purchase of them.

Books promoting treasonous, seditious or blasphemous ideas such as communism, Marxism, republicanism or atheism are strictly controlled, and available only in libraries where readers must keep them in reading rooms. They may also be kept privately by licence.

There are no banned books or other texts in Australia, though authors of especially caustic or explicit texts would likely find it difficult to find a publisher for their work domestically, thus having to turn to foreign or self-publishing.

Historical works that commonly come under censure in other nations, such as fascist texts (Mein Kampf was never writtern in OTL), can be published in Australia, but generally are published for academic purposes and coupled with prolegomena and exegeses, so as to not allow the texts to be used as propaganda. However, any text can be imported from abroad, and there are no laws prohibiting the personal possession of any text.

Most libraries will not stock especially explicit or caustic texts, but they can be ordered in. Schools are allowed to curate their libraries to ensure texts are appropriate for underage students (i.e. prohibiting erotica) but such prohibitions are scrutinised by the state-level consolidated academics syndicates to ensure political or moral biases are minimised. Likewise, minors are prohibited from requesting some texts from their local libraries.

As the function of copyright in Australia is fundamentally different to the capitalist model, there is no penalty for unauthorised printing or distribution of a copyrighted text - only for maliciously modifying a text and attempting to pass off said modified version as genuine. This would include, for example, malicious editing of religious texts to misrepresent religious beliefs or practices, but would not cover a translation that is simply egregiously poor in quality.

There are no banned books, officially. Freedom of press and speech are guaranteed.

Though, the multiversal library has some restricted sections that require clearance to access, and that's all we can say for now. And the constitutional court keeps tabs on certain anti-democratic manifestos out there. So some may claim that their books are banned but rather we keep a close watch on anti-constitutional and anti-democratic elements, especially since terror and civil war had boiled over into conflict.

However, right of privacy laws can have books redacted for sale and distribution when a proper request is filed to redact the book for privacy. Often it is a writer who is ashamed of their work, though we try to make sure it's not politicians using it to abuse the law to suppress dissent, while both principles of privacy, protest, press, and speech are all constitutionally guaranteed, any contradictions are resolved by statute or by tribunal decisions, and thus a politician is a public figure whose right to privacy does not protect criticism of the office that they hold. If one dug up personal details that can be deemed violation of privacy, and of course books that are known to be hate speech tend to come with caveats. Even some proposed laws that certain books come with warning labels to make it clear of the authors' intent, though they failed to pass through, it would be hard to keep track of everything.

We do have so called hate libraries that one can access annotated material of certain controversial texts for research purposes, though these are typically run by citizens' groups rather than the state itself, though some local and state governments have approved funding them, and at the very least allow them to build.

Though besides politics, books that would carry restrictions would be books that contain any magic that is dangerous. Typically The Harmonist religious leaders would censor them in the past, especially when they had secular political power too. Wizard-priestess and priests would regulate what could be published about magic, besides preserving rituals and ceremonies since those were the bedrock of our religion especially Roman Harmonism that stems from Rome itself and its empire. A dark magic book isn't illegal but typically the Temples try to keep them safe and only let trusted mages read them.

No laws, but many caveats apply and that can sometimes involve the state but not always.

Books promoting ultranationalism, along with fascism and its branches are banned. Furthermore, books that do or show support for types of harm that could be considered, by law, a major offense are also banned. Also, books that do or show support for discrimination and discriminatory actions are banned.

- Snowland / the Snowish Republic -

Snowland, officially the Snowish Republic, is a country located in two entire planets. Snowland runs on socialist democracy, meaning that there is parliamentary democracy, but all are socially progressive socialist, just different variations. I'm not sure what I'll do with the Snowish Republic yet. Snowland is one of the nations of the galaxy where there are both humans and anthropormorphic animals, and the nation is considered to be one of the best in the galaxy when it comes to treatment of anthropormorphic animals.

There are no banned books in Radiatia as this would be a violation of section 15 of the Bill of Rights, which specifically protects freedom of artistic expression.

Any information pertaining to other nations is strictly prohibited outside of official government channels, in theory at least.

In reality it's not that hard to pick up a few dime novels from some Outlanders, especially now that relations with the UN have thawed to the point an open communication line is functioning.

There is a children’s book so bad that when the prime minister read it he banned it from bring available in schools. Not due to obscenity or bad messaging, he just believes kids should have access to better, more entertaining books that weren’t boring garbage.

“These are kids, do you really think they’ll want to read this? Make sure it’s something they’ll like so they’ll want to actually get the message from it, like lord of the rings or something. Denied.”
