Welcome to the United Provinces of Xanneria

Ah, so you found yourself in the nation known as Xanneria for the 14th edition of the Under 18 World Cup? Welcome stranger I hope you'll find this place enjoyable and hopefully you'll come back even after the U18 World Cup is over, we have plenty of room for you here in Xanneria. Our Nation is located on the far far western portions of the region known as Esportiva. We are a kind personable people, though at times we believe so much in the ability a person has to make life choices we can also come off as Apathetic. Don't be fooled, we do care about you.

Be Warned canonically this tournament takes place during Xanneria's late fall and winter, so expect the games to be played in fairly chilly temperatures as the climate in Xanneria is fairly temperate.

History

The history of Xanneria, is intrinsically tied to the former nation of Tonissia. roughly 500 or so years ago a Tonissian explorer named Dominic Anneria, as you may guess this is essentially where Xanneria got its name from. The X came from an improperly inscribed "X" near Annerias name when the formal documentation of this new colony was established. As the colony flourished, there became a time around the early 1800s where it became obvious that Xanneria would be better off on its own. Eventually Xanneria became independent in 1807 and established itself in the community. Soon it's father Tonissia became one of its most important trade partners. This was the deal, though eventually some other trade partners in Atlantian Oceania, this was lead about by the formation of the Xannerian Sunbelt Island territory (now located in Anaia). The colony was formed int he late 1890s after explorers deemed a small set of islands near the south central AO that by many were deemed "worthless piles of mud", to be perfect for the national needs. The low lying marsh proved perfect for the industries of the Esportivan based nation as it helped give the nation a very significant boost through giving the nation the much needed ability to grow sugar and coffee. Those commodities were deemed expensive luxuries till the colony was formed. Eventually though a series of upheavals in Tonissia lead to a series progressively worse dictators that eventually lead to a cold war between the nations. Eventually Tonissia disappeared from international eyes (rumors swirl that they actually nuked themselves to obliteration.) yet Xanneria was left with alone in the most literal since of the word. Yes they had some trade with nations in AO, but this was still fairly minimal and the Xannerian economy started to look grim. The grim future though never happened, huge discoveries of metals and other mining operations in the late 60s early 70s essentially helped save the Xannerian economy and turned the nation into an industrial powerhouse. That being said the economy was still insular and almost entirely domestic. The time of 65-82 was known as the Isolationist period . Eventually this period ended when the nation of "near-bye" Ethane found (Yes Xanneria was isolated to the point they hadn't even discovered their region mates.) out about Xanneria, leading to a period of international relations and growth within the international community. eventually leading to their rise as a footballing "power".

Transportation

Xannerians are blessed with several options of transportation. Most Xannerians pride them selves on an extensive rail-network with several operators spanning the nation. Though it should be known to travelers that the size of the nation means that long distance rail travel should really only be done as a vacation method and not to actually be used. It is recommended that fans use the aviation method of intra-national travel as the nation is rather large and time will be of the essence with games be played over an ICly 14 day schedule. Also hindering both rail and road travel in Xanneria is the fact there is a large body of water in the middle of Southern Xannerian known as the "Gulf of Melbourne" The Gulf can be traversed by car, but it also requires you to take a ferry from a place like East Rowe, Perlham or the Capital Dominica city to a western port such as Orchard Park, or Rome Beach. We hope you understand as our nation will on display that all options for travel are considered.

Stadiums

CTA Hi-Line Northshore Stadium: Dominica City, XCT

Image
NAME: CTA Hi-Line Northshore Stadium
TENANT: Northshore
CAPACITY: 35,000
INFO: One of the more unique looking stadiums in Xanneria, but not the most unique in the world though. You see some architects in Electrum were "inspired" to make a "similar looking" stadium, we'll edit this post when our lawyers tell us the results of the lawsuit. The Stadium has a unique presenting sponsor though as the Capital Transit Authority uses the stadium to advertise its "Hi-Line" buses through town.
GROUP:

Tan-Fed Three Sisters Stadium: Dominica City, XCT

Image
NAME: Tan-Fed Three Sisters Stadium
TENANT: Carleton Park Rangers
CAPACITY: 32,000
INFO: Located in the Carelton Park area of Dominica City, Three Sisters is one of the nicer stadiums in Xanneria's capital. The name of the stadium is from the name of three small mountains that dot the land scape of the Capital Territory and neighboring province of Hastings. They are Mount Mary, Lydia Mountain, and Mount Sarah.
GROUP:

XANAir National Stadium II: Dominica City, XCT

Image
NAME: XANAir National Stadium II
TENANT: Capital FC
CAPACITY: 65,000
INFO: The new national stadium, National II was built 15 years ago when during the qualifiers, some structural issues were found with the original National Stadium. Using a retro-classic design this smaller style stadium is the third largest in FLOX behind Perlham's Wolfram Stadium, and the City of Hawthorne Stadium.
GROUP: FINALS Only

Mercyhurst Road: Hawthorne, Denalia

Image
NAME: Mercyhurt Road
TENANT: Hawthorne United
CAPACITY: 40,000
INFO: A nice shiny stadium, Mercyhurt is one of the nicest stadiums in Xannerias western coast. Although they don't have the glamorous fanbase of rival Galaxy, the suburbanites of Hawthorne tend to pick United even with the teams recent struggles.
GROUP:

The Richmond Avenue Bowl: Hawthorne, Denalia

Image
NAME: Richmond Avenue Bowl
TENANT: Hawthorne Kickers
CAPACITY: 30,000
INFO: Unlike the suburban shine of Mercyhurt Road of the City of Hawthorne stadiums celeb fan base, The Richmond Avenue bowl is home to Hawthorne's working class team. A large chunk of the fanbase comes from the working class tobacco and meat packing industries that are prevalent in Hawthorne. That being said due to the Kickers continued success domestically, the stadium despite its age and bare bones amenities still will host games in the U18 WC. Also expect a lot of the locals to show up and watch.
GROUP:

Pfluger Stadium: Austin, Leitner

Image
NAME: Plfuger Stadium
TENANT: Austin City
CAPACITY: 52,000
INFO: Set in a bowl north of the city, the Pfluger stadium is one of the most well known stadiums in Xanneria, thanks in part to Austin City's massive success during the IFCF era.
GROUP:

Sierra Stadium. Myrtle, East Anclare

Image
NAME: Sierra Stadium
TENANT: Myrtle Wanderers
CAPACITY: 29,000
INFO: Despite recent mediocrity, the Wanderers have always been one of the most consistent teams in terms of stadium attendance. This is due to Myrtle being home to the epicenter of the Tourism industry in Xanneria and a lot of fans of opposing teams will watch game hear and take a day off the day after to go to the beach.
GROUP:

East Stadium: Velstin Point, Gellin

Image
NAME: Velstin Point East Stadium
TENANT: Islandside
CAPACITY: 30,000
INFO: When your city is half on an island and half on the mainland it's very likely you'll get a huge rivalry in sports between the two sides of the city. Needless to say those on the mainland portion of Velstin Point will not be happy their counter parts on the Island will be hosting a group of U18 WC Matches.
GROUP:

Golden Malt n Meal Hubert Stadium: Briggs Level, Allendowa

Image
NAME: Golden Malt n Meal Hubert Stadium
TENANT: Allendowa United
CAPACITY: 22,000
INFO: There's not much to do in Briggs Level, Allendow United games are one of the things you can do here though. Because of this their dedicated fanbase has been passionate about the team and fills up the stadium. FLOX decided to honor their commitment to their team by giving the stadium a hosting gig.

Welcome to the Kingdom of Starcom

Welcome folks and fans of youth football, for the 14th edition of the Under 18 World Cup will be held by not one but two nations. Along with Xanneria, the Kingdom of Starcom will also be a co-host in this event, their first ever major hosting event. The Kingdom is a small nation comprised of the Island of Starcom and several other islands known as "The Polynesians". Starcom is an absolute Monarchy. It's leader is currently King Derrike X with Prince Ernie III in line to succeed him if anything happens. The main island of Starcom is fairly small with only 30,000 square miles to its name and a large range of mountains in it's eastern corridor. despite this Starcom's kingdom has stretched to 50,000,000 people living in its territories.

Transportation

To Get around the main Starcom Island is easy, especially on the West Coast. North-South connections can be made in both car and train as there is both a significant Public Highway known as PH-1 to take you from Houff in the north to the Capital of Cope-N-Hagan in the central part of the nation to Castle Landon in the south, you will be able to find your way around the island fairly easily. A rail line from northern Houff to Castle Landon also exist and runs several trains a day.

Aviation is also important, but due to the Islands size, only three major airports exist. Maine Tail International Airport in Houff, Robert Whitcomb in Cope-N-Hagan and John and Kurtis Davis International in Castle Landon. there are connecting flights between these cities but most flights out are usually international. Other Major airports outside the Island of Starcom are Honolulu's Pearl International and Riatea's Seacoast International Airport.

History

The much anticipated Starcom History lesson! Wooooo!

Starcom's history starts nearly a Millennium ago. In the 1110s the Island of Starcom was inhabited by tribes that were inherently independent of each other. That changed in 1118, A tribal leader known as "Micheal the Uniter" did what he would be known for and lead a campaign to unify the islands under his name and once and for all have a united the island as eventually over the next couple decades it evolved into a monarchistic state. Starcom had started to grow steadily and it's location in Western Esportiva made it grounds for a massive fishing and farming industry. When contact was finally made with explorers, some confusing abounded. There was much confusion as Starcom was commonly confused by early explorers with another Esportivan Nation called "Racing". This lead to the name of the nation to be known as "Starcom Racing" to those outside of the Kingdom. Do not ever call the nation "Starcom Racing" though, you will be punched most likely. In modern times, the Kingdom has lead itself into more and more into the global age. 12 years ago a sucession crisis in a nearbye nation known as "Sid Meiers Polynesia" lead to a gain in territory for the Starcom Kingdom. It turned out that current King Derrike had an actual claim tot he throne and thus with the vote of the people of Sid Meiers Polynesia, the nation became absorbed into Starcom's Kingdom. Now a new chapter unfolds in Starcoms history as the now host the first ever major tournament in nation hsitory.

Stadiums

Monarch's Royal Stadium: Cope-N-Hagan

Image
NAME: Monarch's Royal Stadium
TENANT: Royal Crown FC
CAPACITY: 60,000
INFO: Royal Crown FC is the pet project team of the Royal Family, RC Is usually a decent team but lately they've had trouble penetrating the top-3 positions in the Starcom Super League. THe Stadiums Itself is way older than most people probably realize as it was built int he reign of King Derrike IX in 1951. THe Stadium itself has seen many renovations over the eyars though and in its current form it is one of the nicest premier stadiums in the Kingdom of Starcom.
GROUP:

SCOIL Polynesia Stadium: Honolulu

Image
NAME:SCOIL Polynesia Stadium
TENANT: Honolulu United
CAPACITY: 40,000
INFO: One of the best stadiums outside the main Starcom Island, The "Poly" as it is known affectionately is one of the oldest stadiums and largest stadiums in the Polynesia Territory. Just be warned this stadium does show its age a bit more than others.
GROUP:

Big Dock Stadium: Cope-N-Hagan

Image
NAME: Big Dock Stadium
TENANT: Big Dock Energy FC
CAPACITY: 19,000
INFO: Before Samurai Cop AC became a dynasty, there was the Big Dock Energy Football Club. Big Dock is run by the Big Dock Energy Company, the main power company in Cope-N-Hagan. The Footballing success has helped them move into Big Dock Stadium in recent years.
GROUP:

Inland Seafood Sailors Memorial Stadium: Houff

Image
NAME: Inland Seafood Sailors Memorial Stadium
TENANT: Inland Seafood FC
CAPACITY: 32,000
INFO: The only indoor football facility in the Kingdom, Sailors Memorial offers a nice 70 degree Farenheit experience all year round. The Stadium's tennet is Inland Seafood FC, a former dynasty of their own right, they were unfortunately busted about a decade ago for a points shaving scandal that actually cost the Starcom Racing team a spot in Campianato Esportiva 26.
GROUP:

Matt Hannon Stadium: Cope-n-Hagan

Image
NAME: Matt Hannon Stadium
TENANT: Samurai Cop AC
CAPACITY: 31,000
INFO: Home of three time Starcom Champions Samurai Cop AC, this is a new stadium built in 1997 after the Police Force XI team merged with Samurai Athletic Club. Matt Hannon was a respectable, long haired midfilder who played for both teams, thus it was natural they named the stadium after him. Also on the grounds of the stadium are the twin towers of the Robert Zdara Hotel and Casino
GROUP:

Biscuit King Stadium: Castle Landon

Image
NAME: Biscuit King Stadium
TENANT: Castle Landon 247
CAPACITY: 22,000
INFO: Located in suburban Castle Landon, the Biscut King Stadium has been host to CL247 games for as long as most fans can remember. The stadium's future though is in doubt as encroaching suburbia offers to overtake the stadium before long!
GROUP:

Honolulu City Stadium: Honolulu

Image
NAME: Honolulu City Stadium
TENANT: Honolulu Kings
CAPACITY: 25,000
INFO: The second stadium in Honolulu, The City stadium is another venerable stadium for the Polynesia area. Home of the famous blue track this stadium may not have the prestege of its larger brother but has exactly all you want out of a 25k capacity stadium.
GROUP:

Raiatea Municipal Sports Complex: Riatea

Image
NAME: Raiatea Municipal Sports Complex
TENANT: Raiatea Rowdies
CAPACITY: 35,000

FOURTEENTH UNDER 18 WORLD CUP

Trigram: DEL | Nickname: Phoenixes or Ashlings | Style Modifier: +5

RP permissions: Yes, but be respectful and TG/DM if you're not sure or have ideas.

Manager: Baghdasar Parsamyan, 39, Cleopatrana SC - The former Pharaoh forward finished his playing career on a high with a league title, then won two more at the helm of his old team, and to top it off brought home a Masters World Cup as a player manager. He faces an entirely different challenge with a team half the age of his MWC charges, but he should be well up to the task. He takes over a team that flopped in Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom, and any improvement he could muster would only boost his reputation.

With no under-18 goalkeepers present in the most recent season of either the Toilet League or the Poo League, it was a very difficult choice for the selectors as no players had any experience even on the domestic football fold. However, three players aged 18 and under have earned a spot in the upcoming season of the Sylestone Football League; the perfect number for the 23-player squad.
Considering all are yet to play a professional football match, no one really knows how they will perform. However, from what the scouts have seen, Ryan Macleay currently has something in his demeanour that has ensured he will get the starting position in the lineup for the Baby Hawthorns. This has also attracted the notice of Pesfield Trees FC, while Patrick Marr and Madeline Morres had to be happy with reserve positions in two of the weaker Poo League sides - Southern Avondale and the renamed Westminster.

RCB: Lauren Archer 18 F Whitepool AFC Image
RB: Ethan David 18 M Emacuton United Image

You take one look at this list of names and pretty much all of them go in one ear and out the other. It’s something to be expected of an under-18 squad, but it just proves that the Sylestonean defence here will be their weak point. Jesse Ross has come off a relatively successful season for Western Avondale and has taken up a starting spot here in the left-back despite being omitted from the squad that will be taken to Valanora and Starblaydia for the Di Bradini Cup. In the centre defence, Alexander Nutt has taken up a starting position after attracting interest from Pesfield, while Freeport starter Sarah Alleyne will be starting in a similar position, too. Kayla Johnstone of North Chamberley may have not had a great season in the previous year, but a hollow deficiency of right-backs has led to her being selected in the starting XI here.
The backup line is a lot less recognisable. Ryan McDonald, at only 16 years of age, deserved a spot in the starting XI, but Jesse Ross did, too. Jesse Rose (not Jesse Ross), will be sitting beside Lauren Archer on the bench as the reserve centre-backs, while Ethan David, despite never playing a professional match in his life, will be the reserve right-back for this particular tournament.

As for tactics, the backs will occasionally jump up to wing-backs, especially if the team are behind and time is running out. If not, then the defensive midfielder may well drop back into the centre defence, although these are both relatively drastic measures.

MIDFIELDERS:

CDM: Adam Seekamp 16 M Freeman Province Image
LM: Rachel Doyle 17 F Avondale Beach SC Image
RM: Jack Lawson 15 M Avondale City FC Image
CAM: Harry Love (c) 18 M Riverside City FC Image

CDM: Alexandra Cayley 17 F Southern Avondale FC Image
LM: Joshua Wallace 16 M Mid-Capital Image
RM: Joshua Angliss 17 M Pesfield Trees FC Image
CAM: Paige Sievier 18 F Southern Beaches Image

The midfielders may not have some of the most widely-recognised youth names in the multiverse, but some of these players are pretty damn good at football and have bright futures ahead. First and foremost among these is attacking midfielder Harry Love, who first played in the Di Bradini Cup at just 15 years of age and is now captain of this team three years onwards. He will be an integral part of the team, being the most experienced player and the only player to have ever played abroad, having transferred from South Saints in Ethane to Riverside City in Baker Park just recently.
Adam Seekamp will be the defensive midfield specialist, starting in this competition alongside his place on the bench for the preceding Di Bradini Cup, playing ahead of Southern Avondale’s Alex Cayley. Rachel Doyle is of similar status, playing as a reserve in the Under-21 World Cup but starting here, playing in the left-midfield for both tournaments and keeping bright young star Joshua Wallace on the bench. 15-year-old Jack Lawson is another young Sylestonean to keep a more experienced player on the bench, attracting the interest of Avondale City in the previous season of the Toilet League and embedding himself behind Hallar Tatyova in that side. Joshua Angliss of Pesfield has had to make way for him, while Paige Sievier will play as the reserve attacking midfielder in the unlikely circumstance that Harry Love has to come off.

If Sylestone are in the lead and their opposition is a strong one, Seekamp or Cayley are likely to push back into the centre-back position, while he may push into the centre midfield if they are behind, although that would only be if the situation is dire. His typical role will be to get the ball out to the wings or up to Harry Love in the attacking midfield, while the left- and right-midfielders will be passing the balls up to the forwards to create chances.

FORWARDS:

LF: Riley Strathfield 18 M AFC Droves Image
RF: Evan Strathfield 18 M AFC Droves Image

LF: Alexandra Arnold 15 F Pesfield Trees FC Image
RF: Hayden Blamey 18 M Emacuton United Image

The Baby Hawthorns appear to have quite a strong forward line, with pretty much all four players having a chance at the two prestigious starting roles. In the end, the Strathfield twins, with both being selected in the Di Bradini Cup, have taken out the starting positions, although Riley will have competition in the left position from 15-year-old Alexandra Arnold, who has already scored multiple goals for Pesfield Trees in the Toilet League. The reserve right-forward position was a hard task to find a candidate for, but in the end Hayden Blamey of Emacuton United was good enough to convince the selectors he was the man for the job.

The main role of the forwards is to get right up in the opposition defensive line. It will be a tough job for just two players, but with all four players having solid ball skills and passing abilities, they can trouble the opposition defence to no end.

MARAMAA NATIONAL TEAM - U18

Image

Style Mod: -2

Mr. Bertie Mills, president of the Maramaa´s Association Football Federation (MAFF) is proud to introduce you the squad that will be representing Maramaa in its very first U18 WORLD CUP. The team is a selection of Maramaa´s most talented young players .

The MAFF unanimously agreed to name the 43 y/o Salvatore “Totò” Paternino, as the skipper of this
young squad.
In his years as a player, Paternino was an above average central back who played most of
his career for Maragrad FC, the powerful team of Maramaa´s capital city.
As the years passed by, Paternino undertook the coaching side of the game in several teams
before being appointed to the current post.

Paternino is well aware that at this stage the players´lack of experience
is a burden so he stamped a rather old-fashioned 4-4-2 style favoring a cautious stand on the pitch.

BEST PLAYERS

Dik Eman is the starting GOALKEEPER. He is an extraordinary skilled goalie, with great reflexes and very safe with high balls. He will be backed by Jensen Price, a player who has some experience playing in Division of Honor.

DEFENDERS

It is absolutely essential to keep an eye on the right center back, Enzo Sforza. This man is only 18 y/o but acts in the pitch as a natural leader. He has outstanding skills controlling and commanding the rear line actions. Good passing skills and excellent game view and shooting ability.
The left back Kasper Zonneberg also has his fair share of talent

MIDFIELDERS

The very young midfielder David Kulibin stands out in the midfield. Maramaa´s main soccer pundits predict a sparkling football career for this extremely talented player

FORWARDS

Both advanced players, Baltasar Encinas and Philippus de Jong are pure dynamite!

Note: In the Adabian timeline, the U18 World Cup takes place around June-July 2034. Age is as of June 1, 2034.

The Adabian Under-18 National Football Team

I have fun like a child in the street. When the day comes when I'm not enjoying it, I will leave football.
-Lionel Messi

BACKGROUND
With the Adab Football Association finally committing to regeneration of the senior team, the nation is finally able to field teams in the U18 and U21 World Cups for the first time in history. Senior team co-assistant manager Rashid Abbas had been chosen to lead the under-21 team, and AFA President Naram-Sin Araqasdah and senior team manager Saad Kaykali even initially discussed also appointing Abbas as manager of the under-18 team. In the end, however, they decided against it. The AFA had also registered for the over-35 World Cup of Masters in Sarzonia, with Abbas as part of the playing team, and they feared that the strain of serving as assistant manager for the senior team, manager of the under-21 team, player in the over-35 team, and manager of the under-18 team would be too much for Abbas. With the rest of the backroom staff also heavily preoccupied with said events, Kaykali turned to an old teammate from his playing days at Baghdad City. Faisal al-Ali, who had become a coach following his retirement from playing, agreed to take up the post, and now found himself leading the Adab under-18 team to their first-ever tournament.

KIT

The national team's kits, designed by Ahmad Enlil (the first President of the Football Association) in 1907, are currently manufactured by Shining Sun Company, owned by Rahman Ashurbanipal, businessman and grandson of Emperor Tizqar III.

STADIUM
Image

Adab City Stadium, the pride and joy of Adabian football, was completed in 1940. Located in the northern part of Adab City, the stadium was able to accommodate 40,000 people at the time of its opening. Renovations in 1978 made it an all-seater stadium and expanded its capacity to 55,350. Later it increased to 75,000 following upgrades in 2009-10 and then 76,500 after another upgrade in 2019. It is currently home to the Adabian national football team and Adab City FC.

TACTICS AND FORMATION
The team will use 4-3-2-1, the "Christmas tree" formation, with an emphasis on attacking play and taking advantage of their opponents' mistakes to launch a quick counterattack, marked by rapid passing from the back four - and, if deemed safe enough, long balls - through the midfield and to the front.

(OOC: Apologies for the shoddy RP. I will post a complete roster in a later RP.)

About Muralos
Muralos is a cosmopolitan collection of islands located in the corner of the Far East: RL’s Sakhalin and Kuril Islands. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto- a language designed to be universal and easy to learn- but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

The Muralosian U-18 National Soccer Team
(also known as the Young Hawks, after Muralos’ national animal, the Muralosian Hawk)

The Muralosian national under-18 soccer team represents Muralos in association football competition against other U-18 teams. While the Muralosian U-18 team has played against other teams in Asian Archipelago, the 14th U-18 World Cup marks its first appearance in an international soccer tournament. The team plays in a 4-4-2 formation and is coached by Pavel Li, who is also an assistant coach for the senior Muralosian national team.

Kits
Unusually, the Muralosian national under-18 soccer team elects to use one kit with the national colors of Muralos. It is identical to the kit of the senior Muralosian national team.
Image

Roster
As of now, the roster for the Muralosian national U-18 soccer team is incomplete, with only a list of players to watch:

  • #1 - Tutin - Goalkeeper - 17 - Okha Young Men’s Academy (soon to attend the Havenurbo Institute of Technology)
Tutin is somewhat of a prodigy, having been the starting goalkeeper for Okha Young Men's Academy since his first year there. In four years, he has recorded 623 saves, with a GAA of 0.038. The name Tutin is related to the Nivkh word "tu," which means "lake." Tutin is of Nivkh ancestry; although his family took the surname Kolesnikov during the imperial Russian period of Muralos – around 1870 – he has dropped the surname to keep with Nivkh custom.
  • #6 - Daniela Safonova - Right midfield - 16 - Nord-Urbo High School
Safonova often invites comparisons to Galina Shchedrina, fellow midfielder on the senior Muralosian national team. Both are extremely composed on the pitch, but while Shchedrina often goes for goal, Safonova displays her range in the form of crosses. Safonova is often in attendance at senior national team games, including some of their games abroad. After these games, she is often interviewed on Muralosian television for brief commentary. As a result, RTM-1 - Muralos’s national sports television network - named her an honorary correspondent in 2020.
  • #8 - Andrea Lin - Right back - 15 - Havenurbo School of Visual and Performing Arts
Often seen twirling a drumstick, Lin is a skilled percussionist as well as a starting defender for the HSVPA girl's soccer team. The team conceded just 5 goals in their most recent season and advanced to the final of the FIS, due in large part to Lin's performance. (Note that while Lin plays for the girl's soccer team, they do not use she/her pronouns.)
  • #10 - Daniil Lee - Striker - 15 - Urbego High School
Lee is a player for the senior Muralosian national team as well. He scored his first goal for the senior national team in a 3-0 win against Grey County at the 12th Independent Associations' Championship, and scored one more goal against Qasden during the 88th World Cup qualifiers, in a 2-3 loss. Lee's scrappy moves belie his efficiency. He is most fired up in situations that require fighting for the ball – e.g. corner kicks and crosses – and is excellent at converting these chances into goals. In the U-18 World Cup, more of his skill will be on display.

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM (U-18-side)
The Black Eagles

Image

The Junior Eagles, after a lengthy period of consternation of whether to join the tournament or not, are back — mostly to defend their crown. Toby Barton, who was kept on as manager even after Marco Hemmings left, has continued to integrate football; with 12 of the players on the 23-player squad being women/girls.

Having been allowed slightly more leeway over his tactical choices, Barton has opted to keep with the 4-3-3 that he employed to great success at the previous tournament; with either a single or double pivot. The Junior Eagles' philosophy, however, focuses more on how the team plays, rather than the actual result.

Though, to be honest being able to defend their crown would be nice.

U18 World Cup team will give it their best try. Let's see how it goes

Insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting a different result.

So what's the word for doing the same thing again, but worse, and expecting a better result?

That's the question I'm asking myself as I watch the Delaclava Football Association send a team to the 14th Under-18 World Cup. Just two years ago, we sent "generational talents" to Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom. Drystan Tudor, Simon Demirjian, Sanson Eisen, Emil Mišalko, Durgali Baxayev, Alibek Khautov. They were coached by Pieter Bergsma, a master of harnessing raw young talent, getting a majority under-23 squad in AC Espene to a dominant offense and a league title.

And you know what, all of those names are doing just fine now! Those young talents have gone abroad, continued to grow their games, and surely they will be club fixtures and international stalwarts for years to come. But this was their first international test, against more storied footballing nations who send their kids away to the best available academy, distance from home be damned, "because we love you". Koi from the pond thrown into the ocean are only shark food. The Ashlings finished last and were bundled out of the tournament with a 4-0 loss to Hispinas.

"But this time, it'll be different!" Sure, let's go to the list:

- No one with a UFL contract played last year due to a lockout. Young prospects are more stale than ever.

- This roster has just three players abroad right now. Mathias Gretler and Nicolas Mercier both signed contracts in Tequilo during their failing run in Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom. But with no reports out of Tequilo at all, the progression of two exciting future stars is a complete mystery. The third, Rogier Wijnberg, is a promising prospect taken under the wing of Euran club Unioneers. But because he only just signed that contract, he still hasn't ever played a meaningful game in his life.

- We've opted for Baghdasar Parsamyan as the manager. He did great with all the oldies his age at the Masters World Cup. He has the respect of his former teammates in Cleopatra and has made that work for him. There's no indication he has the skill set to put together a group temperamental, wildly unpredictable brats and construct a cohesive soccer team.

- And because for some reason, this country only churns out midfielders, Parsamyan has opted for, and no this is not a typo, a 2-6-2 formation. I just...

The only good thing that could be said is that the plane successfully landed in Starcom, a kingdom that most pilots either miss entirely or crash the plane trying to land. So if there's anything going for team, perhaps it's some strokes of luck on the horizon.

But a woefully undertested young team will need plenty more luck to make this trip worthwhile. Otherwise, it will continue the DFA's vacillation between utter disregard for its players and its insistence to place them in situations set up for failure.

Commonwealth of Baker Park Under 18 National Team

The Commonwealth of Baker Park returns for the 10th time to the Under 18 World Championships, scene of the first title in the FAC's history with victory in the 5th edition in Abanhfleft.
Despite returning 14 players from the last squad, which failed to win a match in Zeta Reka & Hugeltaldom, the addition of 10 new members means this will still be a young group in Danielle Harper's second tournament as manager.

TROLLEBORG U18 NATIONAL TEAM

Coach:
As usual in Trolleborg, the head coach was chosen by a vote of fans and coaches. The winner was Jesper Hallgren, 41-year old coach, who spend whole nine-year coaching career in Youth League, known for his creative approach to the organization of the game and the successes in development of youth talents. Judging by the results of the vote, the football federation would prefer someone more titled and experienced, but the voice of the people in our country is crucial.

Goalkeepers:
Johannes Hesterup (16). If he did as he do, we will have a very complete goalkeeper with good reflexes, excellent positional sense and dominant in the air.
Theofilus Jansing (17). If we take his successes in Youth League at face value, then we must state that he is responsible and disciplined goalkeeeper when he comes off his line and occassionally capable of making spectacular saves.

Defenders:
Morten Grengesberg (16). Right defender in the Trolleborg understanding of the game, best described as right wingback in international football. Effective at breaking down opposition attacks and his frequent runs down the flank at times became a real headache for opposition defenders.
Oyvind Hagfors (17). Another right defender, but with a strong inclination to remain at the back. His strenght makes him very difficult footballer to get past, but he sometimes struggles against quick and skillful forwards.
Jorre Stromstad (17). Usually played in the center of defence, altough in youth football he was also work as a defensive midfielder. As his coach put his work: “He goes in hard but fairly”.
Stordal Follafoss (17). Powerful central defender, tremendously strong in the air.
Marten Brekstad (17). Despite his young age, he was counted as a player with a great potential. It is rare to see him make a mistake at the back, but coaches think that his contribution to the attack could be a little greater.
Ronan Korgren (17). Left defender-wingback-midfielder, he constantly oves up and down the flank throughout the game, making the most of his excellent reserves of stamina.
Rindal Nurefoll (17). He is good in defence, be it left flank or center, pretty good marker and very good in the air despite not being particularly tall.

Midfielders:
Hansnes Halst (17). Right midfielder\winger, always playing tight to the touchline, known, despite his age, as a man who always moves ball with good judgement.
Morten Haakke (16). Small, fast, and surprisingly strong player, who prefers left side of the field. He prove himself capable of giving some very good crosses with both feet.
Hendrick Skovsdal (16). Central midfielder, who shows great touch moving the ball around and demonstrates a good variety in his range of passing.
Roon Lemvig (17). Versatile midfielder capable of playing in the middle or down either flank.
Mikkel Limburn (16). Very tenacious and hard working player with makings of the great defensive midfielder, he helps out a lot in the defence when pressurising the opposition and can begin attacks with a precise long balls.
Lejvelin Torring (17). Most at home on the left of the midfield and attack lines, he is fast player with dribbling skills rather good for the player of his age and known for the quality of his crosses.
Quinten Rijbek (17). Played close to the right-hand touch line, aggressive footballer blessed with an excellent physical condition.
Morten Kjellerup (16). Very capable midfielder that shows attacking disposition. In the youth league he prove himself as a rather effective marksman from the long range.
Brutil Hojland (16). At his team he is responsible for the organization of attacking moves. He has a considerable success in this, while showed excellent vision and the coolness under pressure.

Forwards:
Andenes Hovden (17). He is known for taking advantage of his stature and strong jump to overcome rival defenders, but clearly he need to polish some aspects of his game to be who he can become.
Morten Forsnes (16). Prove himself in the Youth League as extremely dangerous forward for his hard, accurate shooting. But it will be seen, if he is good enough for international football.
Roan Holstad (17). Right now not very imposing forward, he put this to his advantage, making himself master of getting into the box with the minimum of fuss and his speed allows him to arrive before his opponents in order to get in a shot.
Karsten Herring (17). Altought very young, he is already have a reputation in out football. He was known for his penchant to fight for every single ball and never shies away from physical contact, making him a tough opponent for opposing defenders

Style of the game –5
No, there was no confusion, team played attacking football on the field, while having negative style modifier for a scorinating purposes.

As their seniors in the national team, Trolleborg youngsters trying to play attractive attacking game on a fast pace, expecting from flank defenders move forward whatever will be reasonable. Also team try to put in place mighty pressing, which national team applied usually.

Brought up by the example of older colleagues, young players in Trolleborg was heavily indoctrinated to put everything even if odds are heavily against, but unsportsmanlike behavior even in the interest of the case is highly discouraged.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Godmod scoring events: N (altought you can ask and I will try to accomodate your wishes)
RP injuries to my players: Y (but I determine severity)
Godmod injuries to my players: N (precisely like in “scoring events” case)
Give red cards to my players: Y (but only for the last hope fouls).
Godmod other events: N (again as in “scoring events” case)

Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV from Xanneria, where our newly-created U18 team prepared to begin first game of the international tournament. As you all know, it’s our youth national team who begin to write history of Trolleborg in the international sport, and write first page rather good, to say the least, beat Lochario fellows 5 to 1 and won next game with Equestrian States. But this is last pleasant news from our youngsters. After that they lost last group stage game, lost playoffs, then twice take part in the youth championships and never making fans happy, being out on the group stage every time despite playing very well. Our FA decide then to disband team and ceased to participate in such a competitions – with a full agreement with the fans on that.

But despite the fact that the first experience was rather unhappy, the players of that team are already make a way into the lineup of the national team. And under changing circumstances fans voted for sending a new under-18 team take part in the next edition of the U18 World Cup.

Doubts of the wiseness of such a move remains. All in all, our young players together play less than 200 games in the first division, is they prepared for a fight that this travel to Xanneria promises to be? Are they up to the task to erase former loses and bring new era for our youth sport? And all players of this generation has already grown up and formed under the influence of international football events, on the example of our footballers who bravely won the BoF and won obvious sympathy in the world of football with their fast and attractive football? Doesn't this impose an unnecessary burden of responsibility? Hallgren is known as a highly skilled psychologist - well, by the standards of Trolleborg, where sports psychology began to develop not too long ago. But will he cope with the pressure on the nerves of young talents? We all will see this very soon.

In the first game our youngsters will play against Cassadaigua. Hallgren decide to play 4-4-2, with Hesterup as goalkeeper, defence with Grengersberg as right defender, Korgren on the left, Stromstad and Follafoss in the centre, with Limburn while begin game in the midfield move to the defence and back as things on the field dictated. Rijbek and Haakke delegated on the flanks, being (to the surprise of everyone) preferred over more experienced and physically tough players. Kjellerup looked like appointed to be responsible for attacking moves. Holstad and Forsnes will play as forwards, probably with a eye on the helping midfielders. All in all, looked like Hallgren have a high-quality defence as the first priority and counted on the fast and agile players in the attack.

Five Names to Watch: Youngest Fillar, Chromatiks of Foreign Decent Highlight U-18 Squad

When you look at the roster for the U-18 World Cup being held in Xanneria and Starcom, one name jumps out at you immediately: Edith Fillar. The youngest of Chromatika's royal footballing family, the sixteen year old will Captain the squad and be expected to be the head of the attacking arm of the team. However, once you get past that, it becomes obvious that some of these names are very decidedly not Chromatik: What is going on? Let us examine five players that will determine just how far this team, headed by Han Myung, will go.

GK Raoul Carpathia
Newly signed by Tikariot City FC Academy, Raoul is an aggressive sweeper-keeper who is learning to curb his spirit at times and get better in the flow. The only player that was listed on the most recent Transfer Window to be on the squad (Haitou and Delaya were considered too raw for the CFF at this juncture), Carpathia is very excited to play in his first international match. "They don't know what they're facing," he stated in a recent interview, "We're ready for them. You'll see."

RB Ami Coulibaly
Born to two Banijan parents that settled in Chromatika, Coulibaly's marking skills landed her in the crosshairs of Chromatik U-18s boss Grecerick Homina early. She lifted the Youth League trophy alongside the likes of Tumbran star Trudy Harrison last season, and is a personal friend. Coulibaly isn't the tallest defender nor the biggest, but she makes up for it with tenacity, quickness, and a willingness to get scrappy. She's mature for a sixteen year old as well, knowing how to handle herself with grace and poise.

LB Jan-Jaap Menneken
Growing up in Myana to an Audioslavian dockworker father and a Chromatik chef mother, Jan-Jaap, or JJ to his friends, is a hulking figure at 6' 10" who is very fun to be around. On the pitch, he uses that size to his advantage, often times intimidating opposing teams. He was on the losing end of the Youth League final to Chromatik U-18s, but many CCFA schools are hoping that he'll stick around and not go abroad. Easygoing, hard-working, and lanky, he's a great prospect at left back.

RM Briareo Asaguirreiturri
Say his last name five times fast. Briareo's parents are social workers from Audioslavia that came to help the ROYG population after the Rainbow Revolution; they decided to call Chromia their home. A jack of all trades, he is decent at almost everything but doesn't really specialize on a single trait. Most experts are intrigued by just what kind of player he may develop into. Chromatiks better get used to pronouncing his name in the years to come.

AM Marian Goo
Another intriguing prospect on an ever-growing list of central midfielders, Goo is the daughter of a Quebecois carpenter and a Chromatik interior designer that combine to run one of the most successful furniture companies in Myana. A blitzer who likes to go after her opponents, Goo has been working on her stamina so that she can be as dangerous five minutes before the end of a match as she was in the first five minutes. She'll be the one getting the ball to Edith, too, which is something to definitely keep an eye on.

The young Chromatiks' run in the 14th U-18 World Cup begins with a foe that they are very familiar with at the senior level - Baker Park.

Anomalies on deck for U18's opening day
by Fiona Devlin, National Soccer Writer

The Commonwealth of Baker Park Under 18 National Team are preparing to get underway in the 14th U18 World Cup, where they will face off against Chromatika on match day 1 at the Raiatea Sports Complex in Starcome Racing, co-hosts along with Xanneria for this tournament.
BP will then meet the home side on match day two before taking on newcomers Maranaa on the third of six matchdays, as the group phase will utilize a double round-robin format.

Manager Danielle Harper has wasted no opportunity to remind her squad of the disappointment of the last time the competition was held, where the Commonwealth failed to advance beyond the group stage for the first time, losing three and drawing one match to finish bottom of the table.

“I've stressed to them that we cannot and will not accept that type of result again. We've won this title twice, nations know we are one of the best U18's in the multiverse and play against us accordingly. Last time out cost us some of the prestige we had, and we will have to work twice as hard to regain half of it back.”

Baker Park have played 50 matches in the U18WC, winning 34 and drawing 5 against 11 defeats, including 23-3-3 in groups stage fixtures prior to the last tournament.

One change in the composition of the roster has been a movement away from high school prospects as the FAC Academy League has gained strength; two newcomers this term—Davis Murphy and Patti Rubinstein—join Camille Prince from the defending APL champions Westwood Sprites Academy, as dependence on more polished youth prospects seems to be the direction Harper is taking.

Team name: Græntfjall
Trigram: GRÆ [GRF when not available]
Demonym/adjective: Græntfjaller
Team nickname: [Junior] Snow Wolves

Coach: Trine Kakalisdóttir
Assistant coach: Saxi Dómaldsson

A feeling the Junior Snow Wolves were a little unfortunate last time – a first round exit in the playoffs came at the hands of the eventual winners, Tumbra, after a fairly solid group stage – has kept Trine her job. She’s known for her disciplinarian streak, which is helpful when it comes to shepherding around a group of overpaid teenagers, but not as an especially bold tactical thinker. At the last Cup she was willing to let her players take the lead, with some big mistakes, but also some exciting highlights. Her assignment is, as much as anything, not to be boring.

Squad: A 23-person squad has been named for the tournament. You can assume those numbered 1 – 11 will start unless otherwise stated, but there will be some natural rotation.
  • The Græntfjaller Premier League is gender-mixed and it is seen as uncontroversial for men and women to play alongside each other. If you find this unrealistic you are welcome to RP surprised reaction [although given the general state of NS Sports it would surely be not too much of an outlier] but it won’t be something we dwell on.
  • -son names are men, -dóttir names women, -bur names gender-neutral. Hanif (male) is of immigrant background; Harmony (female) is a Kamdyr, who are a group of semi-independent nomadic people.
  • In general, Græntfjaller players are athletic and have excellent whole-match fitness, disciplined, and not prone to violence or emotional outbursts. They are, however, not tremendously skilled.
  • Most players play with the youth teams of their respective clubs.
  • Timing note: I am RPing this tournament as occurring a few months after the Copa Rushmori Juvenil, after the conclusion of the GPL season, and subsequent to TW32 closing; all players on foreign teams are assumed to be given leave.
