Top 30 regions animated chart race

Hello!

Over last 2 days I've downloaded and processed all available region dumps using a simple C# script.

This has allowed me to build an animated bar chart race of amount of nations in top 30 regions in the game.

What you will see is 200 seconds of statistics. You will see rise and fall of regions, how UCRs were sometimes more OP than GCRs.

Unfortunately I could only get region dumps as far as this page https://www.nationstates.net/page=archi ... er=regions gives (up to September 2018)

If someone has a more complete collection of data, I will be happy to work with it. There are a lot more things to visualize! :)

Beautiful. I love this kind of thing--nicely done.

Could you possibly create a version that excludes puppet storage regions? By the end of the video, 17/30 regions are puppet storage, and another nine are GCRs (which effectively have permanent places on the list), leaving only four slots for legitimate UCRs. I find the best way to filter puppet storages is to remove regions with a WA concentration below 1%.

Oh man that's cool! It's interesting seeing visually how a region will have a surge of growth, then suddenly collapse back to where it was like 10 seconds later, when all those new nations CTE.

You could really see the effect Fedele's coup had on TEP in there. it took a year for the region's population to recover!
I never realized how much smaller The Pacific's population was compared to the other GCRs.
I also didn't realize that TRR once had the second-highest population in the game! Must have been during the Drewpocalypse.

There was also an incident where the founder of the world's largest puppet dump at the time purged the region.

Sad how NS has been slowly taken over by puppet storage regions. (Except for Chicken overlords, that one is good.)

I don't really see how Chicken overlords has any more value than any other puppet storage region :p
