About the region

Atlanticana is a medium-sized region that follows the principles of meritocracy, believing that only nations based on their merit deserve recognition in a region, as such, democracy is a taboo subject within it, to an extent. The region is governed by an Axiarch, which serves as both the Head of Government and the Head of State. Assisting the Axiarch is a council with an undetermined number of Strigidarch's called the Symposium, they serve at the Axiarch's pleasure. The Regional Council is the legislative branch of the Atlanticanan government, consisting of every world assembly nation of the region.

The values of the region are justice, equality, anti-fascism, and defenderism. The region pledges to fight against every form of fascism as well was against every other extremist ideology. ]The region shall in the future have an organised defender military called "ANDO", which is short for the "Atlanticanan Naval Defence Organisation", that will assist defenders all over NationStates in their fight against regional harassers, also known as raiders.

The Government

---

Atlanticana, a region that has changed its form of government multiple times, has changed it once more. First starting as a republic upon being founded, becoming a monarchy sometime after that, a republic again, a monarchy again, and then it became the axiarchy. Now, it became a Shogunate. Even we don't know if this will be permanent. The executive body of it is called the Tri-Commission, which consists of three commissions: the Internal Affairs Commission, the Foreign Affairs Commission, and the Administrative Commission. The Tri-Commission reports directly to the Raiden Shogun, the region's Head of State, Head of Government, and Head of the Judicial branch. The current Raiden Shogun is also the region's deity, Ei. The Regional Council is still the region's legislative branch, though it has changed as well, in the sense that it's exactly the same, the only difference is that WA membership is no longer required for it.

This has stayed the same as it was before, though it's being mentioned regardless of that because the stance of the region has changed in regards to the concept of "ANDO", the current stance of the Shogunate is that it will be neutral and that it won't have any kind of military in the foreseeable future.

Regional Roleplay

The Internal Affairs Commission has been working hard over the past couple of weeks to create the best roleplay that it can, and it shows. Unlike last time, it's now located on the planet of Atlanticana, which looks semi-interesting, in our humble opinion.

Overall, the region is doing quite well, all things considered. It did have a larger number of nations residing in it in the past than it has now, that is true, but one should note that the number of nations possesses isn't important. The things that are important are the values, culture, community, etc.

Therefore, when we start considering what region we would be willing to open a consulate with, we thoroughly review its values, culture, and members. This process lead us to consider opening a consulate with the region known as the New West Indies. The Shogunate is quite sure in its belief that their democratic values, and roleplaying culture, make them an excellent region for establishing diplomatic relations with. We cannot wait to see what the future will bring for our two regions’, and to see this relationship bloom like an orchid.”

Jakkonia, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the New West Indies: "The New West Indies is proud of the connections we have forged with other regions. The cultivating of new friendships and bonds is something that the New West Indies values and cherishes. Thus today we are proud to announce the creation of a new consulate with a region known as Atlanticana as we believe they share many of our same values and beliefs. Only in peace and friendship may we thrive and today we can be proud of a new relationship forming between the New West Indies and Atlanticana. News

A lot of things happened in Atlanticana during this spooky month. We shall summarise the events that have transpired in the following text.

In the roleplay scene, the summit in San Pera is going well. Some nations have decided to take a rather unusual method of arriving in the San Perran capital, something that the nation's authorities probably aren't fond of. New nations have been added to the map, including two militaristic nations, how will the Moonlight Union, which mostly consists of socialist nations, deal with this? No one knows yet.

In terms of what the government has been doing, the Regional Council passed a resolution titled the "World Assembly Delegate Act", which amended the constitution, and specified the procedure for the appointment of the Delegate. Currently, the Regional Council is considering passing a resolution that would dissolve the Tri-Commission, and replace it with the Archonate, a council of two permanent Archons, and five temporary Archons that would be elected by the people.

Shogunanica was elected as the Speaker of the Regional Council. A position that will soon be renamed to the "Tianquan" of the Atlanticanan "Qixing", which is what the Regional Council shall be renamed to.

The community itself continues to grow and is becoming more wholesome every day, something that we are immensely proud of.

In terms of foreign Affairs, we are pleased to report that two consulates have been established so far during this month, and one consulate has been closed. The region opened a consulate with The League, and a consulate with The East Pacific, while its consulate with the New West Indies has been closed.

Ei: What made you decide to join Atlanticana?

Albedo: For my best friends who join/founded it, and which was good enough for, and for the RP / potentially helping out new people.

Ei: What are your thoughts on Atlanticana right now? Do you regret making that decision?

Albedo: Right now it's very positive and one legitimate regret I have was not being a proper member originally and not being a legislator role model for others to follow, whether I become one again or something like that it doesn't matter, I must set a better example than what I was before!

Ei: What would you consider as a better example?

Albedo: A positive, encouraging, and helpful person, doesn't have to be exactly these or in this order but it's my style that I am setting up for myself

News

Hello! It certainly has been a long time since our last update, my seven month hiatus can be thanked for that! But just because I, the founder have been absent, doesn't mean that the community has perished. Actually, that's false, most of the community is gone. Some individuals just didn't comply with new regional regulations, and had to be removed. But the pressing thing is: with Atlanticana back, what changes have occurred to it? Well, the answer to that is none, except that we're now putting a bigger emphasis on social justice. I'm sure that the community will recover eventually, though that would have been made completely impossible had raider forces been successful in their attempt at violating yet another region's sovereignty. Their attempt was stopped, of course, but still...

Another year is upon us, which marks the return of Atlanticana, a once vibrant region that has since fallen to the chasm of inactivity. Just as a flower blooms, withers, and is replaced by another flower, so too shall the region be replaced by another iteration of itself.

Many reforms have been made to the overall structure of the region. Be it in terms of the design language utilized by it, the governmental structure, or its general vibe. We will list some of the changes here.

• The General Secretariat, the Executive Council of the region, is composed of two Permanent Secretaries and two Elected Secretaries for the purpose of running the day-to-day operations of the region and enforcing the constitution and the laws passed by the Senate.
  
• Another part of the executive, though separated from the General Secretariat, is the World Assembly Delegation. A department that decides how exactly the President of the Delegation (our World Assembly Delegate) is going to vote within the WA. Though it may codify its internal procedures, if said procedures are deemed unconstitutional by the Magistracy, the Magistracy will execute section 66 of the constitution!
  
  

  §66. The World Assembly Delegation may codify its own internal procedures insofar as they do not conflict with statute law and the present Constitution.

  
  
• The Senate is the Skyland's unicameral legislative body, with authority vested into it in the form of executive oversight capabilities, and impeachment procedures. It is composed of every citizen in the region,
  
• The Magistracy is the judiciary branch, in charge of interpreting existing laws and the constitution. Consisting of members appointed by the General Secretariat with the assent of the Senate.

In other news, many aspects of the region are still in development, such as the dispatch system and the regional roleplay, but despite that, we can safely say that this was another happy landing

A whole month has already passed since our last update! Did you miss us? ^-^

This time around I come bearing news of the elections that have taken place this month!

I can happily say that Port Edwards has been elected as the first Speaker of the Senate. Under his leadership, the Senate has already passed a resolution meant to codify its internal procedures and is currently discussing two other resolutions, one meant to establish public holidays and a regional animal while the other wishes to create an application-based system for attaining citizenship! More news about this in our April installment

Port Edwards has also been elected GenSec! What a wonderful accomplishment, we will continue watching his career with great interest uwu

In other news, this time from our roleplay, the lunar new year is slowly reaching its end within the Kingdom of Aaru, while preparations are in full swing for the upcoming international conference between Valthiin, Aaru, and San Pera. Who knows what this will mean for the RP universe? And while some are celebrating, others are facing hardships as the Ashi has been hit by a devastating hurricane. We hope the recovery efforts are swift!

On The Skyforce

On behalf of the three General Secretariat of Atlanticana, I am excited to announce the creation of the Atlanticana Skyforce (henceforth referred to as "ASE" or "The Skyforce"). On Thursday, the voting period ended in the Senate of Atlanticana for a piece of legislation that would formally create The Skyforce.

The Skyforce is proud to call itself the official regional military of Atlanticana, tasked with safeguarding and promoting defender ideologies. Members of ASE, including yours truly, will regularly participate in defender operations with other defender and independent militaries.

If interested, joining the The Skyforce is easy. You can make an account over at our forums and apply over there, or you could telegram me for more information. You are permitted to be part of another defender and independent military and simultaneously serve in ASE (disregarding other norms set by other militaries).

The Skyforce is eager to make its mark in this vast universe, and that can all start with vital participation from you.
