Do you have to obey the World Assembly?

The World Assembly says: 'all member nations must abide by legislation it passes.' So if World Assembly passed a legislation according to which citizens of all member nations should be free to do 'example' thing and then a member nation gets an issue related to the 'example' thing and bans it, what will the World Assembly do? Condemn the nation, or remove it from the World Assembly entirely? Or are member nations free to decide whatever they want and this is just to encourage good behaviour and so member nations follow the basic rules of NationStates (e.g. only one nation at a time can be a World Assembly member). Please clarify.

As a WA member, laws are automatically brought into force that bring your nation into line with WA resolution as they pass. So in simple terms, yeah.

*In-Character*, your nation abides by all WA laws if it is a member of the World Assembly. That is a part of the sort of RP contract that you agree to when you sign up for membership. When a General Assembly resolution is passed, relevant stats are adjusted in your nation for the purposes of acting on that IC commitment. Mechanically, the policies you have in your nation, which are brought about by answering issues, are not affected by the WA and can be contradictory to WA legislation.

Since the General Assembly is functionally a roleplay institution, there is no enforcement mechanism to compel you, the player, to be or act a certain way. But *in-character*, it would make sense to be economically sanctioned and distanced in foreign affairs as a consequence.
