1) Was it a big deal? Not really. I told him not to do that. The consequences are if he does a similar thing in the future he's more likely to get officially warned, note that I noted the mildness of the flame in my note. The consequence of that is as you accumulate more warnings you are more likely to get banned.

2) Was it flaming? I think OSRS makes it clear yes. This was an OOC insult on another person: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=260044#004

3) Does being provoked in a non-rule breaking way matter? The FAQ is pretty clear about this: no.

A: Okay, let me stop you there. It might look as if you are being persecuted for your political views, but what most likely happened is you made a personal attack and your opponent didn't. No matter what the subject matter, if you don't conduct yourself in accordance with the rules of etiquette, you will get into trouble with the moderators. The best way to get your points across in the forums is to remain calm and respect other people's right to disagree with you.

Saying somebody is a centrist IRL when they have socialist in their nation name is nowhere near a provocation, BTW.

I'm writing this so you understand my reasoning not to start a dialogue. Third party appeals are not accepted and further arguments with me are likely to be treated as spamming moderation.
