Repeal GAR #23 "Ban On Slavery And Trafficking"

Postby Munchsal » Fri May 07, 2021 12:45 pm

[proposal=] A resoltion to Repeal GAR #23 "Ban On Slavery And Trafficking"[/proposal]

Today Munchsal humbly request that the aforementioned law on the subject of this proposal be repealed for the following reasons:

Every nation, whether in the world assembly or not, is free to not fulfill basic human rights with their prospective consequences.

Slaves would have the same treatment that prisoners are given, which is more than fair considering that both are linked to private and state institutions in the same order.

Before the aforementioned law was passed, thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people were in slave camps, but after that law was passed all of them were thrown into the streets without warning.

For these reasons, Munchsal request the repeal of the law mentioned in this proposal.

You need to read the GA proposal rules. You've got at least one (repeated) illegality here.

OOC: No, you didn't read the rules. If you had read the rules, you would have seen this:

Branding: Proposal authors cannot list their names, pronouns ("I" or "we"), or use acronyms to circumvent this. However, they can and should credit their co-author(s), where contribution is notable or significant. Authors may list up to three co-authors.

Also, legislating in a repeal.

Edit: Before anyone gets extremely upset about this proposal and its companion, keep in mind it's never going anywhere and is likely not serious.

Edit 2: As Kazakhstan 3 is about to CTE, maybe this dude's his replacement.

They are the author of the target. This topic was brought up on the WA discord before, and their reasoning is that it was submitted and passed as a "Human Rights" resolution, but after the fact, the "Human Rights" category was retired, and the category of this resolution was changed to "Civil Rights."

In their own words-
I wrote two Human Rights resolutions. Not two Civil Rights resolutions

The other one they refer to is GA#9.

OOC: I’m fairly certain we have a resolution mandating prisoners have to be paid for their service, which means if the legislation in repeal rule wasn’t there and you managed to pass this, those hypothetical “slaves” would have to be paid for their service…

"Barfleur is, for obvious reasons opposed to this proposal. Normally I would endeavor to suggest some helpful changes, but as this proposal seeks to legalize actual slavery, my only advice is to scrap it, or the international community will scrap it for you."

Having delivered his warning, Ambassador MacGeorge walks around the aisle in the debating chamber and offers free "I HATE SLAVERY" T-shirts. He then leaves the chamber and changes into one of the shirts himself, and then returns, looking surprisingly hip for a diplomat and bureaucrat.

- It's true.

- That guarantee would be given by each country independently.

- It is relevant to nations that do not like disorder.

And by the way, that slavery is legalized does not imply that all countries should apply it.

- It's true.

"See the Administrative Compliance Act and the WA Compliance Commission to determine how incorrect you are, ambassador."

- That guarantee would be given by each country independently.

"Without a ban on slavery, there is no law that requires countries do, in fact, guarantee those protections."

- It is relevant to nations that do not like disorder.

"Not really. Why should the international community countenance abuse in the interest of your personal comfort?"
And by the way, that slavery is legalized does not imply that all countries should apply it.

"Irrelevant. That nations can use an abusive, exploitative policy is itself harmful to all free societies."
