Fernandes Tropical Fruits International is a company based in Isla de Cielo that prioritizes the transportation and sale of fruits, particularly bananas. This company is technically nationalized by the communist government of Isla de Cielo.
History
Plantations popped up in Isla de Cielo as a way for wealthy noblemen exiled from Spain to continue to make money for themselves and the empire. These plantations were run by slaves from both Africa and kidnapped children from the Spanish American colonies.
Following its independence in 1817, these plantations still operated under slave labor, this time with more machinery and transported by the new railway system to harbors for mass exportation. Wealthy Americans further the exploitation of enslaved workers by investing in the newly formed Cielo Fruit Company.
Following the 1943 slave revolution and the 1946 civil war, El Commandante Jellal Fernandes nationalized the plantations and his government formed the Fernandes Tropical Fruit International Company as a way to raise income for their government projects. This time, workers were given a proper wage, homes, clothes, meals, and education in return for their labor.
The company still continues to operate to this day, selling mostly bananas, pineapples, and mangos to international markets worldwide.
