How did you get into NS?

I joined around 2012 when I was a teenager. I was searching for a game to make my own country. From that search I saw NationStates, the other was Simcountry which I still play as well.

I joined a few regions not knowing exactly what to do. Answering issues was nice, but they were not enough for me. So I decided to join a raiding region, The Black Riders, around 2014 and enjoyed my stay there. Afterwhich around early 2015, I joined PFQ, didn't last long there but I met a few people who still are alive to this day. Then I rejoined raiding around 2016, entering a region known as Hydra Command and met several more people. I was still young at this point and was quite annoying looking back. I went into hiatus around 2017 and joined a region known as Democritus, been a resident there for almost 5 years already (I broke my residency stat, sad).

Come early 2022, a friend of mine in the Raidersphere told me Raiding was back. I joined The Brotherhood Of Malice and became an Assassin. I also rejoined my other raiding organizations like The Black Hawks. Over the year since I have come back, I have been fortunate to lots of people and made new friends in the Gameplay part of this game.

And to think it all started with me trying to find a nice game to create a country.

Some years ago, a few classmates and I would play this game on the whiteboard where we'd draw countries and roleplay their diplomatic interactions. (And by 'roleplay', I mean this one kid who would inevitably annex all of us and become vehemently enraged if anyone tried to resist.)

After this, I developed an interest in creating fictional nations/detailing all of their different aspects, so I started researching terminology and whatnot. Looked up the definition of "nation-state" and here we are, two years and 7+ countries later.

Exactly 1 year and 361 days ago (thx to nationstates API for the accurate date), i was doing a remote class and i was bored so i was looking for a pastime centered around nations and role playing games and i came across this site

A little over a year ago, my good friend Swaklaton introduced me to NS. You may know him as the former WA Delegate for EmbassyRegionia Sadly, he moved away and became less involved with NS and CTE'd a few times.

In mid-November of 2021, I decided that I was kinda bored and thought that controlling a country would be cool, so I just Googled "make a country game". NationStates was the first result to pop up for me, and I've been playing since. My brother, Redlande also has a country, but he asked me to take it over since he wasn't very active. I also have made 3 more alts since then (Great Stonia, Tessellatia, and Office Placeholder, all for RP reasons.)

Less flippantly, a member of Seibertron.com (a TransFormers fan forum I was a member of) posted a thread about a new game he'd started playing and suggested forming a region of other members if enough people were interested in joining. Rhanukhan is named for and partly based on a country I'd invented in my childhood games decades ago, being the world I'd imagined for my "Battle Beasts" toys. The notion of updating it for an online game appealed, so I took the opportunity. Though NS Rhanukhan isn't inhabited by anthropomorphic animal warriors, various elements of the characters and adventures they had are incorporated into its history (e.g. I'd imagined the Raccoon as a great explorer and his spirit persists in the Rhanukhani character, "Rhah, Chief of the Khuna", who lead a voyage of exploration in our classical antiquity). Nearly nineteen years later I've greatly outlasted all those old Seibertronians and long ago moved to a less transient region.

First joined in 2015, after some years of playing the Sims and SimCity and looking for something bigger. After some searching, I soon learned that I am in a minority who finds medieval worldbuilding to be torturously boring.
Despite the simple gameplay of NationStates, I like that it makes relatively few assumptions about the economic system and time period. I suppose I am more 'political' than the average person, so politics being a core aspect of NationStates worldbuilding also strongly appealed. Kept at it for a couple years, got bored, then came back a few months ago but decided not to resuscitate what I had from earlier because it looked ridiculous.

I was bored one day, so I began to google random stuff. I eventually thought that a nation simulator would be fun to play, so I googled that. Then I found this, and I began to play it. I designed my nation after an alternate history of Texas.

At first I wasn’t very social but after a month or two after existing I started to use the forums. Before I knew it I was roleplaying and socializing with other people, and my nation had extensive lore. And that leads up to today.

My first nation I created in 2014, because I was fed up with the problems of the world and thought that I as a 12 year old would be a much better world leader than the bozos on the evening news. So I looked up games where you play as a national leader, and NationStates was one of the top results.

I got back into NationStates more recently because Stroulia kept encouraging me to make a nation for my years-long worldbuilding project, since I'd been sharing information about Oddernia in our Discord chat.

I have no idea. I've attempted in the past to join NS but, I get bored and just forget. I was bored a few months ago and made a third (second?) attempt to join. Guess it stuck because I've had a blast raiding. I enjoy PVP and the sort of antics raiding brings. Doesn't help everyone in LWU have been so friendly.

I honestly have a fuzzy memory as I first played it back in 2017 (around age 9), I wanted to start a country for some reason and I came across NationStates, I signed up for a nation, I accidentally made my Nation fascist and didn’t realize because i didn’t even know anything about politics. I forgot the game existed after two weeks.

In May 2023, I came across NationStates again in a Drew Durnil Video, i decided I’ll get back into it again, i stayed here instead of leaving in around a week because I realized that the magical thing named ‘the Forums’ existed and I had a good grasp of politics, meaning I can discuss with people about politics as well, i mainly hunt around F7 nowadays.

I recently joined NS and in the recommended videos on YouTube I came across a little channel that talked about creating your own nation. It piqued my interest and I decided to give it a try. I registered, created a flag and left the game for a while. Then I came back and started actively visiting forums and local RNB, communicating with other players.The opportunities that this forum provides allow me to realize my ideas and create a collection of facts about my nation.
