Okay, so i've read a few articles so far. Details are thin. But from what i've gathered, is that Isiah Brown, a 32 year old home health care aide, asked a police officer for a ride home from a gas station due to a broken down car. Sheriff obliges and drops him home. Wholesome story, right?

Fuck no. Isaiah Brown called 911 A few minutes after this encounter to once again ask for a ride back to his car in case it gets towed.

For some reason, the dispatcher logged it as a domestic abuse call even though no such incident has or was occuring. Not even his family understands why.

The VERY SAME deputy returns to the property no less than ten minutes after leaving, and proceeds to shoot Isaiah Brown 10 times in the face, neck, chest and pelvic area. Isaiah was unarmed. That much has been confirmed by police.

As the OP i wanna stay impartial but honestly, i can't fathom the lack of common sense here. Surely you'd be giving the benefit of the doubt to a guy who just asked you for a ride home. The same guy you trusted enough to let in your car?

It doesn't even make sense. Why would the deputy who gave him a ride home show up again and shoot him 10 times?

It's actually fairly normal in a lot of places if you have a breakdown or something, if a cop comes by they'll usually offer to help. I've even had that happen before, only difference is they usually don't come back and shoot you.

I don't know about the US, but in the UK its fairly common to be able to ask a police officer for a ride. As long as you're not literally using them as a cab service, and have some genuine reason as to why you're asking, 9/10 times they'll agree to it. They're civil servants, after all.

Is there something the police are withholding about what happened between A (his asking for a ride) to B(shooting him ten times)? Because there is no way it could go from A to B without reason unless the cop was genuinely batsh*t. Something is being kept from the public, methinks.

Still, shooting someone ten times is freaking excessive.

We require additional information and the bodycam footage to really come to informed conclusions.

Probably haven't gotten the whole story yet, so it's pointless to jump to conclusions over the motivations of the officer or Brown yet.

When the body cam footage is released I might change my mind, but I'm honestly just assuming the worst of the officer here. Not much I can even fathom for what might make this justifed.

I think had Chauvin been acquitted with all these shootings happening in just a few days, this one would have probably been the straw that broke the camel's back, and we would be seeing unprecedented wrath right now.

But the sheer rate of these killings may make it such that even cops being convicted from time to time won't stop uprisings.

The Democrats think Chauvin in jail will put the movement against police brutality to bed, but they're soon going to find out just how wrong they are.

It might be the case that this police department is just as perplexed as we are about the situation. Something happened or he acted far outside of any norms. Maybe he's known as competent but on this one occasion, went bezerk and even coworkers or superiors know they might have to turn against him but are reluctant to do so right away. To cover for him or not?

If it's not a case of foul play, then it's probably the usual suspect: Cops instinctively pulling their guns and emptying their chambers in response to any kind of stress, surprise, or confusion.

And this problem is itself the result of the pervasive mentality among police that they are like an occupying army and any civilian they come across is a potential insurgent.

I've done it before. Got stuck driving through a blizzard en route to my apartment on one of my state's notoriously dangerous, mountainous freeways. Pulled over, threw my hazards on, and initially phoned Triple A. They couldn't help, so I called 911 and had highway patrol take me the rest of the way.

It happens, is what I'm saying. I also didn't get mag dumped on by the cop, as is expected when you call a cop for help. This is one messed up case so far.

Funnily enough I've just finished reading the transcripts of the bodycam.

How do you confuse a gun for a phone? Dude must of been carrying something straight out of the 80's if the cop thought the phone was chunky enough to be any kind of pistol
