This roleplay is for members of THE WESTERN ISLES ONLY. If you are not on the map, you cannot participate in this roleplay. However, if you are about to come onto the map feel free to telegram Ainslie to discuss the happenings of it.

Gday gday… so the current Secretary-General of The Western Isles Climate Response Council has been in the position for the past few years and it has been brought to my attention that we should probably elect another one now.

To that end, this special sessions thread is aimed to facilitate discussion and debate surrounding the new candidates and then a voting period. It will be used every TWELVE months for this purpose and if a random need for a vote arises, it will be done here.


Stages

So here’s how it is going to go.

• Nomination Stage - You have 72h from the posting of this thread to forward a candidate to be Secretary-General of the Climate Response Council. Their names, relevant qualifications and experience is what we need to know and a biography is optional if you want to do that too. Please, one candidate per nation only. Nations who do not submit candidates are free to announce their early endorsement for a particular candidate.
• Debate Stage - After the nomination stage finishes, there will be at least one day to ask the candidates questions and to declare your support and do the backroom dealings we all love to do. This will all depend on how interested you all are on debating and stuff.
• Voting Stage - After the debate stage finishes, you will have four days to register your vote for a candidate. This will run in a largely similar way to the league.

This roleplay is for members/nations on the map of The Western Isles only.

LORRAINE CLARKE OF THE REPUBLIC OF WACHOVIA

Born in the marshlands of Guilford County on the island of Subraisia, Dr. Clarke is renowned throughout the Republic as ‘the Climate Czar’. Since obtaining her PhD in Public Policy, with a concentration in Environmental Policy from the University of Wachovia, New Haven, she has worked diligently for over 30 years to advocate for and craft Wachovia’s response to climate change. Through her efforts, and those who she has taught as a visiting professor at her Alma mater, the Republic of Wachovia successfully met the 15% alternative energy source goal set under the Kirsdoff Protocol and made inroads towards achieving a CarbonZero economy, with 100% alternate energy source production by 2035.

Dr. Clarke is the candidate who has the will, vision, and experience needed to mobilize the CRC into the regional force for good. Her dedication to the poor is a necessary attribute for a person to lead an organization such as this. For without a heart for the poor, and the vision to match, the less fortunate will only suffer the more as sea levels rise, storms become more damaging, and their homes are demolished to make way for ‘green projects’. We solicits the support of our allies, friends, and counterparts to cast their ballot in support of Dr. Lorraine Clarke, High Commissioner for Climate Change and the Green Economy, of Wachovia.

The Nhoor Ambassador, Mr Īrtesin Jā̦, a long and thin man of a certain age with spectacles that seemed to cover half his face, spoke with a heavy voice.

"The Dominion of Nhoor will not propose a candidate at this time", he said. "We will await the presentation of the candidates and make our choice after the debate."

[Hyukai]

A brown haired man in his 40s coughed and began to speak with a thick accent:
"The Commonwealth of Hyukai will not send any candidates however, would be interested to see the debate and cast a vote once satisfied."

[Solaryia]

The United Republic of Solaryia would like to nominate Iren Saskí as the next Secretary General of the Western Isles Climate Response Council.

Iren Saskí was born in the suburbs outside of Kalmonis, and is known as one of the leading environmental reformers of the United Republic. He graduated from Myrsarja University with a degree in Environmental Science, and found himself in employment of the government during the large environmental reforms of the 1990s. Through his leadership, Solaryia successfully increased the percentage of energy gained from hydroelectric power by 25%, and is currently in the process or organizing the largest ocean wind farm on Raedlon to be built off of Solaryia’s northern coast. Although not a particularly political public figure, Saskí has assisted in many public awareness programs across the country, and recognizes the importance of public participation in order to complete environmental goals.

If elected into the position, Iren Saskí will help transform all TWICRC members nations into being fully environmentally sustainable without harming their populations and individual goals in the process, focusing on cost efficient and effective projects that are within the abilities of every member state. The United Republic of Solaryia implores all member states of the Climate Response council to elect Saskí as Secretary General, for a leader who can bring real change.

An assistant unfamiliar to almost everyone but the Ahnslen delegate enters the room. He is immediately identifiable by the green blazer and pants he is wearing, with a coat of arms on his shirt pocket that appears to identify him as being part of the staff who help run The Western Isles Climate Response Council.

After he reaches the centre of the room, he briefly touched his lapel mic to make sure it is on before addressing all of the delegates who arrived to vote for a new Secretary-General.

“It is now time to move from the nomination stage to the debate stage. This chamber will now allow any delegate present to ask the two candidates questions relevant to their candidacy and the position they seek to hold. This will last for a period of 48 hours.”

“With no questions for either of the candidates and as question time as elapsed, we now move into the voting stage. I call on councillors present to vote for their preferred candidate.”

[Nhoor]

"Nhoor will vote for the Solaryian candidate, Mr Saskí."

[Ainslie]

“The Unified Electorates votes for the candidate proposed by Wachovia, Dr Lorraine Clarke.”

[Hyukai]

We have full trust that they will adhere to the principles put forth by the Western Isles Climate Response Council and enact steps to ensure we all work towards a better future for each and everyone of us. This, we are confident of Dr. Clark." TWICRC Roendavarian delegate Eiadianne Lorathriein Maevenai declared.

"The Union of Thromsa votes in favour of the LORRAINE CLARKE for the position of Secretary-General of this Climate Response Council"

The Realm of Serpens Land votes for Mr. Saskí of Solaryia.

“Due to one of its nationals participating in the election, the United Republic of Solaryia will abstain from voting in this election.”

"Aruia is in favor of the Wachovia candidate, Dr. Lorraine Clarke."

Almost as soon as the Aruian sat back down after giving their vote, the suited man came back out into centre of the chamber.

"The vote has now concluded. There are eleven votes recorded. Five nations voted for Iren Saskí of Solaryia and six for Dr Lorraine Clarke of Wachovia. As such, the new Secretary General, effective immediately, is Dr Clarke. I thank the candidate from Solaryia and wish them all the best in their ventures. I dare say we may see him again soon and the Council also thanks the members for voting in this special session.
