I understand I'm not directly involved with this and apologize, but I was told recently that per Max Barry stance on fighting against hateful ideologies like racism, nazism, and fascism that his stance per a Mod is "Max would rather have abhorrent/stupid ideologies dragged out into the open where they can be ripped to ribbons and shown for being the abhorrent and/or stupid ideologies they are than simply blanket banning them so they fester unchallenged."

It seems like the gentle you warned was just doing exactly that calling out an individuals ideologies for what they were, and since moderation expects us to handle these things and not themselves I'm unsure if this ruling is well true to form.

So do you expect us to report them or argue against them and call out their ideologies for what they are?

I mean as the nation who was reprimanded point out if you look at that individuals post history it's most in support of white supremacist ideologies, like "the great replacement".

So I'm really confused as to why this was an offense or should we report them first wait for nothing to be done and then try to do what Max wants us too?

That would be because trollnaming is an offense in itself. Under the Rules, trollnaming can be found in the subsection pertaining to forum spam, where it is also pointed out that the offense itself can be considered flaming.

For reference, this is the section of the same Rules that points out trollnaming as an offense, with the offense itself underlined:

You seem really focused on this drought that happened but as far as I've read (and I've read a fair deal) the Venezuelan economy didn't break apart because of the drought, it broke apart because of mismanagement by the government and an immense overdependence on oil which could have easily been avoided. That's not to mention the corruption and rising murder rate under Chavez even before the economy went to hell. I go again back to a successful story that is Saudi Arabia, which is a desert for the most part. The difference is the government of Saudi Arabia invested into industries outside of oil which has managed to keep it's economy resilient despite turbulent oil prices.

The lives of the Venezuelan people would have been far more improved if it's government had spent less on social programs and more on diversifying the economy. You are free to blame the CIA, sabotage, opposition, drought and any other manner of obscure bogeyman but the truth of the matter is that it was the poor policies of Chavez and Maduro and their socialist government which has made life so difficult in Venezuela that it resembles the Soviet Union prior to it's collapse, maybe even worse.

I wouldn't say it was "because of Chávez" but yes it's a failure of his, I acknowledge that.

It's convenient to blame the CIA, droughts, US embargoes and internal opposition and perhaps some of these did play a factor, but if that's the case why is it only Venezuela that has a collapsed economy right now.

Colombia should arguably be in a worse state given it's problems with guerrillas and narcos except that it's not.

Colombia doesn't have sanctions from the world's superpowers - it receives help from them. As for not being in a worse state... it's very subjective.

Venezuela was set up for success and collapsed because it was mismanaged.

Oh, sure, it was badly mismanaged for 40 years by the "Punto Fijo" parties, before Chávez.

If it had taken the route of many Middle Eastern nations like Saudi Arabia and instead have put money into diversifying the economy and moving away from oil, it would have been better off.

And Chávez tried to do that. But he had to face a coup attempt. And a sabotage. And a population that had a million of illiterate. Nearly half who never could see a doctor. 60% below poverty line. And an administration that initially refused to cooperate with him, forcing him to setup semi-parallel institutions (the "missions"). So he focused on the emergencies first - bringing people out of poverty, granting them education and healthcare. Saddly he died and the world crisis and drought hit Venezuela all at once before the Bolivarian Revolution had time to convert the country.
