A-SRM-2 "BAYONET" IR AAM
OVERVIEW
When given the choice of settling for established armaments or forging a new path, Lauzanne has typically gone for the latter option. This is true of small arms, armoured and unarmoured vehicles, and now aircraft and armaments. Not content with what was on offer, Akulov Dynamics set out to create a new compact IR Imaging AAM to fit to all current and future LAF aircraft.
Equipped with a modern Imaging IR system designed to be as resistant to countermeasures as possible, the Bayonet lends itself well to engaging fast moving targets, enemy aircraft, cruise missiles and rotary-wing aircraft. It's compact to fit inside the smaller bays present on many 5th generation aircraft, providing a potent backup to the main complement of medium-range AAMs that would no doubt be present on such machines. Such missiles can also fit onto any plane that can mount the R-73 missile system, substantially improving the firepower of a given plane without having to go through a costly avionics upgrade.SPECS
