Can't upload custom banners?

Hello,
a few weeks ago I have tried to upload a custom banner, but every time I do, it says

The flag you're uploading does not appear to be a valid image format (JPEG/JPG, PNG, or GIF).

I have made sure that the banner is a .png file but it just doesn't work. I have even tried changing it to .jpg , .jpeg and .gif and it just keeps rejecting it. Could anybody help? Here's a video of what's happening.

Is your image larger than the maximum pixels? (12000x4000)

I'd try using the suggested ratio of 4:1. Online sites like Canva let you create designs with your own dimensions. You'll be able to create something that fits it perfectly.

You also said this was a few weeks ago, try again. It may have been a glitch that is now fixed.

EDIT: Looking at your current population (232 Million) if this was a few weeks ago, I'm not sure if you had yet reached 50 million, which is needed to upload a custom banner. As I said in the aforementioned, try again or use an online design platform. If both of those fail, I'd report it as a bug or request further help.

You do not have the option to upload a custom banner until you reach the appropriate population (the button is literally not there), so I don't think this is it.

No, the example I showed was 707x330, though I tried lots of different sizes too.

Imgur only works in bbCode if it has the file type at the end; e.g. .png, .jpg, or .gif. Try reposting the image, going to the down arrow on the side, and selecting "bbCode".

Not sure what to tell you. I downloaded that image to my computer and was able to upload it as a banner with no issues.

OP, try downloading it from Imgur (even though you uploaded it) and see if that works -- it may be that Imgur does some processing that fixes whatever problem we're having with it.

If the Imgur version works but your original doesn't, please email the latter to admin@nationstates.net.

Putting my banner in imgur and downloading it worked! Thanks guys!

I finally got around to looking at the image you emailed, thanks. The one that didn't work is a BMP3 file (Windows Bitmap), despite its PNG filename extension. So although it's an image, it's not a supported format.
