Depends on what you mean by "end." The coronavirus can't be eradicated, it was already too late to do that by January 2020.

Enough people will eventually either get vaccinated or get sick and recover that huge waves will no longer be possible. The virus will continue in smaller clusters.

How societies choose to deal with those clusters remains to be seen.
