A Party Fit For a Princess! (IC Thread)

Postby Abetton » Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:23 pm

Welcome to the IC thread, please keep IC Here and use the OOC Thread for anything out of character. Let's have fun!

What a beautiful day it was for a birthday party! The sun beaming down on the lovely castle grounds in the Abetton capital city of Sauville. For all other citizens, it was an ordinary day to go about their daily business. But for the Royal Family however, today was special, it was the birthday of Young Princess Chrysanthe Latimer, nine-years-old today! Nine lovely years she's blessed her family with being around and well like any Princess, her wish is always the command of her staff. (Well almost always, even our little nobles have limits). So what does a little girl who already has everything want for her birthday? Why what could be better than a great party! But not just a party with the children of all the various Dukes, Duchesses, Barons, Baronesses, Earls and every other rank and file noble of the Kingdom. No she wanted this one to be different, not that she didn't get along with the others in the courts of her country just, she saw them plenty of times, so often, school, temple, other engagements and parties and so on, so with that she requested a party where any foreigner could be invited. Including from the neighboring Principality.

Still, this day there was still so much to do. The cooks in the kitchen seeing that the food and drink would be well made. With allergy concerns from certain children, great effort was put in to pick proper ingredients, scrub the kitchen good and make sure all was prepared. No nuts? No problem, many recipes could be made without any nut ingredients. Out in the gardens, tables and chairs being set up and also properly cleaned. Any nut bearing trees and bushes were properly pruned and sprayed with water. Not a single detail was left unchecked.

Two people overseeing it all, one was Mister James L.L. Brown, the castle butler. Up there in years, 65 years to be exact but always dedicated to his service of the King and Queen. Been serving the Royal Family for a generation at this point, since the King was but a young prince himself, now getting to take care of the children as they've grown up. Well two were already in teens so hardly in need of his care as much but certainly the little Miss. The other helping, The Princess's personal handmaiden, Margaret Wayne, granddaughter of Mr. Brown, aged 19, the top of her game already, for someone so young. She was well treated, well paid and she actually did enjoy her job here. The Princess might as well be her own daughter, they certainly were close and thus it was her mission to make this the perfect party for the Young Miss.

A half-dozen maids or so were scurrying about the Castle Garden to prepare for the guests. Well right now it was looking good for things. The day's weather was promising to be pleasant, the food was nearly ready and they should expect their first guests to arrive soon. "Check, check, check." Margaret made little marks on her long list of tasks to be finished. Siddling up to her quietly was the older Princess, Princess Peri, the older sister of Chrysanthe. Peri was still dressed in riding gear, having been out for a morning ride on horseback around the grounds. "Good morning, Miss Margaret."

Margaret admittedly got a little startled, nearly dropping her clipboard.

"Oh my, I'm sorry, didn't mean to frighten you." Peri giggled a little.

"Oh, quite all right, Your Grace. I was a bit lost in thought."

"Looks like the party prep is coming along great, boy Chrys is really gonna love it."

"Ah I sure do hope so. I think it's going to be a special day for the Young Miss. And speaking of, Milady, you really should change."

"Yeah yeah, don't worry, knowing Miss Sara she's already drawn a bath and got my dress all laid out for me anyway!"

"She is quite prompt about such details so best not to make her wait. And our guests will be along soon. We do have some older guests your age in attendance too, so please ensure your brother and yourself will be present."

"Oh don't worry about me and Finn, we'll be here to celebrate with the rest."

"Very good, Milady. I hope you also enjoyed your ride this morning."

"You bet, Sugar was excited to get out and run the corral. With the rain last few days, poor girl has been all cooped up. Well I'll be seeing ya!"

The Princess went along to wash and get set for the party, leaving Margaret to continue overseeing the final stages of setting up for the party. Next up to Margaret's side was the birthday girl herself, Chrysanthe.

"Oh, Young Miss, good timing!" Margaret said as Chrysanthe wrapped herself around Margaret's waste in a friendly hug. There she was, small, cute and dressed in a beautiful white short sleeved dress with a lacy collar, buttoned at the front "Did you speak with your mother and father?"

"I sure did. They wished me happy birthday and everything and say they'll be seeing me on Sunday!"

"Very good!"

"Is anyone here yet?"

"Not quite but it's getting onto time and they should be along very soon. So be a little patient."

"mmm okay!"

With that, the Butler would welcome the new arrivals and guide them to the garden upon their arrival. Looking at his watch, it was getting onto noon, right about time for the first guests to arrive.

Elizabeth Manion along with her two daughters Erica and Lily arrived in Abetton. They were the daughter and granddaughters of disgraced Former Prime Minister Jerry Manion. Manion had opposed a vote to investigate his predecessor Former Prime Minister Jack Nicholls (disgraced in his own right). Nicholls had gotten agreed to a partnership with a dictatorship in which they shared information, but it became increasingly clear that Hopal wasn't getting much out of the deal and being taken advantage of, with the dictatorship using resources to interfere in foreign elections. When Manion urged his party to vote against an investigation into the Nicholls Administration, it prompted Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Manuel Calaba to attempt a coup and Hopal was subsequently invaded by a foreign power. Meanwhile Manion took time off with his family and his Deputy Prime Minister had to deal with the crisis. Manion in the years following has done many more things that have earned him a disgraced title, running for Attorney General, making deals with dictatorships, and defending war criminals, have all put him in a negative light.
Now with his daughter and granddaughters visiting a totalitarian regime, things aren't looking better for the Manions. But all Erica and Lily are really interested in is meeting some new people.

Flora Bevre was snickering. Snickering very, very loudly. She had just landed in Abetton and was posting redundant messages on PruCh, which was thrilling to her, as she wasn't with her mother and thus that privilege couldn't be taken away. A man nearby her glared.
After a full minute of laughing at 'Catboy Eiko' memes, she began to work her way towards the exit. Flora was halfway through the exit when she realized she had forgotten her bags. As she attempted to navigate the airport, a sweet aroma filled her nose. Her mind went to soft, buttery Lotat cakes from home. Nope, not doing that. I'll just get even more lost, she thought.
But her nose had taken over her legs, and she found herself at a restaurant in the airport. She closed her eyes as she breathed in the smell.

And then she opened them.

In front of her was a... seafood bar? What could be so sweet coming from a place specializing in fish and sharks and whatever comes from the sea? Well, it's worth a try. She pulled up a seat and sat indignantly for the server to come. After a short while, he came. "Oh, yes. I'd like the thing that smells so sweet." Flora said. "Oh, i'm sure you don't want that." The server reassured her.
"I'd still like it, please?"
"Fine. One Sweet Platter, coming right up."
And it did come right up, as the chef had one ready already. Flora looked at the sluggish fish. She shrugged and took a bite. Luckily, she was an actress and knew how to do a spit take. The fish chunks flew from her mouth right into the person next to her's face. "What is this? It isn't sweet at all!" she complained. "Oh, that's sweatfish. It's really gross. Dunno why anyone would order it." The woman on her right said as the man on her left picked the chunks out of his beard.
Flora quickly footed the bill with her allowance and ran out of the airport, leaving her bags behind.

Castle Lieke, Sauville, Abetton

The Melromarcs may not be actual royalty, but they are one of the most powerful families in the Western Pacifica Province of Cartoonia. The matriarch of the family, Mirellia Q Melromarc, was the chief executive officer of one of the biggest electric company Cardinal Electric. She is not just known for providing electricity throughout Cartoonia, the family is one of the most influential in Cartoon House. She has served in the Cartoon House Council back in the nineties. Though she has some distaste for it, her eldest daughter Malty S Melromarc is the minority party leader in the Cartoon House of Representatives. Her youngest daughter Melty Q Melromarc is not only a talented artist and caring child, but she is also serving her school’s student council. The matriarch and youngest daughter were traveling to lands unknown for one reason only. A journey across the sea to a kingdom they have never heard.

Recently, the Supreme Leader received a letter in the mail from the kingdom of Abetton. They have never heard of this country before, but they were invited to a birthday party in honor of the young princess. Usually, he would have taken care of everything and traveled there himself to build relations, but Supreme Leader Jimmy Kudo nor his brother Shou had kids of their own. So it was decided that he would call a favor to one of the most influential families in Cartoonia to go and represent the country on his behalf. He called up Mirellia and told her everything and agreed to bring her daughter. It is good for her too, make some friends outside of the country, make some connections.

They have arrived in Sauville, the capital city the night before and arrived at Castle Lieke just now in a limousine. Out comes a beautiful fair-skinned woman with purple hair that is tied up in a bob with collarbone-length bangs hanging on either side, purple eyes, and pale purple lipstick, wearing her intricately-decorated gown, with what appears to be a bronze breastplate. Her daughter comes out too with long blue hair that is tied in two curly pigtails by two blue ribbons and blue eyes wearing fancy frilly clothes which are also blue with various areas in white.

“How do I look, mother?” Melty asks her mom, fixing herself.

“You look fine Melty,” Mirellia responds.

“I just want to make a good impression is all”.

“It is fine my child” Mirellia says calmly. “We are to represent our nation, but it is not a diplomatic mission. I want you to enjoy yourself today, you work hard at school so just have fun”.

“Okay, I will mother”. Both of them begin to walk from the entrance to the castle gardens.

"A flock of noble birds, how cute." Tsarina Bratislava, or Bratsy for short, had seen such things before, like her last visit to Antarctica's Socialist "Utopia". This was different as she's taking her young boy Nicholas with her. Maybe it won't hurt that he'd know some kids outside of the country. Since this is only a child's birthday party, guards were not necessary, however, that doesn't mean she's unarmed. Her husband's sabre on her waste and a pocketed can of pepper spray should be enough. :?: She stepped out and smelled the air. Burnt rubber tires, as usual for airports.

"Mami, why are we here again?" The young prince asked, still a little sleepy.
"We're here to celebrate a birthday, dear." She said, assuring the young boy.

A look inside the young Prince's mind, and he's already begging to go back to bed, or rather the chair he slept on. He didn't really question it that much as he'd get to play fun games with strangers and eat weird food. Whatever Mami's doing, that's adult business.

"It would've been nice if papati came with us." He said, looking at his mom, holding his hand, as they're walking towards a Bus stop.
"Well, your papati is busy dealing with things at home, but don't worry, maybe next time?"
Nicholas nods in agreement.
Bratsy hailed a cab and headed straight for the palace.

Eddy boards a pelican at Concordia Air-force base waving goodbye to his dad while holding his bags and the gift for Chrysanthe a baby Moa from the Planet Reach where Eastern Kodiak has it's capital, Knowing that he won't see his Dad for another few weeks as his parents are divorced and after the party he would be with his mother. He sits down in the hard passenger chair of the Pelican putting his bags beside him before listening to music to pass the time. He hopes the party isn't too large as he really isn't a party person. Eddy then has trouble getting comfortable as the seats are quite hard, and the chair he chose to sit in does have too much head room. Eddy is quite tall for his age at 5'11 and the seat he chose is an extra that was made for children. Towards the end go the flight he asks the pilot.

"Why does Dad and Terrance always make me ride in a Pelican and not something from the military?"

"Well its for your protection son, also you better get used to it because like everybody you'll have to do your service in the military"

"I think it's pointless for right now, we're heading to a birthday party not an active war zone."

" Look there's nothing you can do now, anyway get your bags ready we're almost there"

The pelican shortly arrives thereafter opening its door letting Eddy walk out. He waves goodbye to the pilot and then lets his uncle know that he had arrived. He then goes to drop off the gift and goes to find other kids his age. He thinks to himself "Wow there's a lot more people than I expected", before opening his phone, taking out his headphones and listening to The Beatles, hoping not to get bothered by adults.

Prince Vyacheslav bounced up and down excitedly on the large, cushiony leather chair of the president’s private airplane. The interior of the plane was open and elaborate. A few couch-like seats went down the long body of the plane. The Prince was going out of his home country for the first time ever. The president of Ugokarinsky himself had arranged the details of transportation to the just turned nine year old Princess’s birthday party. The royal family no longer held any power in Ugokarinsky, but they still had the highest status a person could have, which is why royal members were sent to foreign events and gatherings. The president was also not married nor had children, so he had no one to send.

Konstantin, Vyacheslav’s older cousin, was assigned with the task of watching over the sweet Prince while he attended the royal birthday. Konstantin sat across from Vyacheslav, anxiously looking out the window of the plane. He laid his head on his hand, his elbow on the table that stood between him and the Prince.

“I’m so excited!” The Prince beamed, messing with a stack of important-looking papers he had somehow gotten his hands on.

“Ah, Your Royal Highness-! I don’t think you should be touching those… I think those are the president's.” Konstantin smiled awkwardly and gently pried the documents out of the young Prince’s hands. He placed them aside where the Prince could not reach them. “And yes, it is certainly very exciting.”

“What language do they speak there? Will I understand them?” The Prince asked. Before Konstantin could even answer, the Prince began talking again. “I hope the Princess likes me. I’ve never met a Princess before. I made her a card, look!” He slid down the wide seat towards the end of the table where crayons, scissors and a variety of vibrantly colored papers were laid out. He picked up a card with poorly written letters in Ugoskiy, spelling out ‘Happy Birthday!’. There was a picture of a traditional tiered Milaya Medovik cake with candles and balloons, decorated with bright, messily drawn red and yellow streamers.

“I’m sure she will like you, Your Highness, just make sure to be on your best behavior. And that’s a very nice card! But your father already sent a card with us.” Konstantin reached into the bag beside him and took out an incredibly formal and fancy card, then showed it to the Prince. The words were in the language spoken in Abetton. It even had the official emblem of Ugokarinsky on it, with a signature from the King himself.

“Oh.” The Prince deflated back into his seat with a hurt expression.

Konstantin glanced around, feeling regretful for saying anything. “I-It’s okay, Your Highness. You should still give it to her. I’m sure she will still love it.” He quickly tucked away the other card out of sight. “We should almost be there by now.”

The plane reached its destination within a couple more minutes. It landed not too far from the castle in Sauville. Prince Vyacheslav jumped up and peered out the window, eagerly making a move to leave the plane. Konstantin gathered all of the luggage in the plane and gave it to a man waiting by the exit who would take it to Castle Lieke.
Konstantin stood up. He towered over the tiny eight year old Prince at 6”1. “Alright. Your Highness, remember what your father said-”

The Prince interrupted. “I know, I know. Papa said ‘no sugar!’.” He pointed and imitated a deep and angry voice.

“Very good. And check with me before you eat anything. I know that they have taken the proper precautions with the food, but I just need to make sure.”

“Yeah, yeah- Let’s just go!!!” The Prince tugged on Konstantin’s sleeve.

“Alright. Behave.”

The two exited the jet-black plane in crisp, darkly colored (slightly old-fashioned) suits with the Ugokarinsky sword upon the breast pocket and red ties. A limousine was waiting for the Count and the Prince to drive them to the entrance of Castle Lieke. The ride was quick and timely. The just under four foot tall Prince hopped out the second he could, but for as excited as he was, he contained himself and appeared calm, something he had learned to do throughout many other events he had to attend with the King and Queen. The two Ugoskvs had deep tan complexion accompanied by dark chestnut brown hair with a slightly red hue and warm green eyes. They practically looked like brothers. Konstantin cautiously followed the Prince, who was looking around in all directions and enthusiastically leading the way into the castle. They were both greeted politely by many unknown people. The Prince’s face lit up once he caught glance of the Lieke Garden. It was a beautiful and breathtaking scenery, with so many new people in sight.

No sooner had the clock chimes rang out for noon had the bell rang on the massive castle gate. Any cars or other transports were sent along up to the front doors where everyone was greeted by Mr. Brown. "Good afternoon, Young Masters and Misses and welcome to Castle Lieke. The Young Princess is eagerly awaiting your arrival so please go straight along through the hall here you'll be in the garden." He gestured them to move along.

The garden was quite expansive, between grass, trees, bushes, flowers, a lovely water fountain that often saw birds splash down in, a gazebo standing along the many sidewalk paths that split off into many directions. One could easily get lost for a few minutes to a few hours in this garden but given it was fenced off, you would remain safely in the castle. Standing at the side of her maid, Princess Chrysante stood holding the hems of her white dress where she gave a polite greeting. "Thank you so much for attending my party! It's a pleasure to meet you all."

Margaret smiled down on the Young Miss. "Young Lords and Ladies and all others of status, it's my pleasure to introduce you all to Her Royal Highness, Princess Chrysanthe Latimer."

"Oh!" Chrysanthe suddenly realized she spoke before being introduced but Margaret maintained her smile. Margaret continued, "As for me, I am Miss Burton, her Highness's Handmaiden. There is some time before lunch will be served, so children why not gather and have some fun with each other and get to know one another? If any of you brought gifts you may put them on the table over there." She gestured to a single table where any gifts or other things people did not wish to carry around could be placed. Parents and guardians, if you wish to wander about the garden you may, everything is enclosed here so you need not worry about going too far from your children. If you wish a tour or anything else, I can be of service or Mr. Brown, the Castle Butler. Teens and other older accompaniments, Her Royal Highness Princess Peri and His Royal Highness Prince Milo will be joining us here soon enough."

Konstantin listened carefully to Margeret Burton’s words. Although it was obvious the children were quite safe in the garden, he couldn’t help but feel apprehensive. Prince Vyacheslav, on the other hand, could not have been less worried. Konstantin knew he had to keep a close eye on the Prince and not let himself get distracted or he might wander off into who knows where. The Prince had been known to cause trouble before, though almost always unintentionally. After the Princess had been formally introduced to all the guests, everyone began to disperse to talk to one another, and the Prince immediately spoke up.

“Can we go meet Princess Chrysanthe, Konstantin? Can we?” The Prince asked, fiddling around with his red tie subconsciously.

“Yes, I suppose.” Konstantin glanced around, observing the environment and people around him. He turned his gaze to the small Prince. “Oh, Your Highness, you can’t be messing with that!” He gently swatted away the Prince's hands and bent down to fix his tie.

“Oh! Sorry.” The Prince gave an amused smile. “Now can we go?”

“Of course. If you have any trouble speaking with Her Highness I'm sure I can help translate.” The Prince had already started walking over to the small Princess in the white dress a couple of feet away. He approached her with great confidence and an endearing smile.

“Рад вас видеть!*” The Prince greets while performing a bow in a very formal style. Even if it was a birthday party, it was still a birthday party with people of high status. Konstantin stayed silent by Vyacheslav's side and bowed respectfully. “с днем рождения!** I am Prince Vyacheslav of Ugokarinsky, Your Highness!”

*Pleasure to see you! (Greeting)
**Happy Birthday!

En-Route to Abetton

Servants scampered about the cabin of the royal jet. Some of them carried documents and others carried expensive cell phones and computers. Most of them paid no attention to the two young people playing chess, which was understandable given that their next stop after Abetton was The Treezian Archipelago, one of the more unstable colonies of The Frozen Forest. Supposedly the Crown Prince Ari was traveling there for a state visit, but young Arik hadn't seen him since boarding the plane in the The Frozen Forestrian capital of Truvaria. Arik didn't pay much mind to that though as he moved his queen forwards, entrapping his cousin Rose's King. "Checkmate!" He proclaimed proudly before extending his hand forwards.

Rose looked at the chess board carefully, dumbfounded how her little cousin had managed to beat her. She reached out and took his hand and shook after coming to terms with her defeat. "Well played little Örna. You're just as clever as your father, maybe even more so."

"This is taking too long. Why do i have to go to Abetton again? Why couldn't Maria have gone instead?" Arik's attention turned and he bounced over to the plane's window to look out over the ocean.

"Your sister is at that foreign academy, besides attending invites from foreign nations like Abetton are important. How do you expect our family would get along if we didn't make contacts with foreigners? Poorly! I had to do all these same things when i was your age and my last name isn't even Bjork. Besides who knows, maybe you'll like this Abetton Princess-you could use more friends."

Arik didn't like the insinuation that he was lonely but before he could say anything back to Rose a servant dressed in traditional apparel appeared. "Pardon me Lord Arik, Lady Rose but we will be arriving shortly. I have prepared these dossiers for the two of you for last minute refreshers for everything that is expected of you two for the duration of your visit. I need not remind you two that you are expected by the rest of the Royal Family to act in accordance with tradition, with honor and dignity in the name of our glorious Kingdom. Your actions reflect on all of us so please try your best to behave. Please fasten your seat belts and prepare for landing." The servant handed Arik and Rose each a dossier. Inside were relevant cultural details regarding Abetton, the names and photos of various important figures in attendance, such as Princess Chrysanthe, Princess Perry and Prince Linly as well as a few of the other guests. There were also emergency contact numbers, travel directions and reminders for important traditional customs and to not forget to take with them the gifts for the Princess.

Some time later...

Arik and Rose arrived at Castle Lieke in a old-fashioned horse drawn carriage, which was both out of place and unnecessary in Rose's opinion. The decision was probably made by one of the royal advisors who had been assigned with planning the trip, so as to make a statement, "Here! Look at our nobility! See how they respect tradition?" Which Rose joked about as they drew in through the gates. As they were directed out of their carriage and towards the gardens Rose couldn't help but feel a prickle of unease. She had indeed been to many state events across the world but being in a totally foreign nation surrounded by strangers never made her feel comfortable, especially since she struggled with English somewhat as opposed to her native Forestrian.

Rose led Arik towards the gardens. Walking in front of them were a pair of very similar looking individuals that Rose recognized from her dossier. The older one was named Konstantin and the ecstatic seeming kid walking beside him was Prince Vyacheslav. They were both royalty from a nation called Ugokarinsky, a nation that The Frozen Forest had no formal (or informal) diplomatic ties with. Her dossier mentioned that she should meet them if given the opportunity, especially the older Konstantin.

Rose glanced down at her dress self-consciously. It was an informal dress made from the finest materials available, yet was rather plain and simple. She was technically not royalty herself, even if her mother had been. She wondered whether Konstantin was the type to dismiss those of lower stations-she'd met the type before, anyone below their station was no more than dirt. Feeling a bit of anxiety welling up inside of her Rose mentally dodged the question and turned to Arik, who seemed extraordinarily bored.

"Cheer up, this really isn't so bad. The birds are chirping and the sun is shining and we don't have to listen to that ridiculous servant prattle on about "the supreme duties of our noble blood" or anything like that. Did you bring your gift?"

Arik shook the finely decorated bag he was carrying. Inside was a pine green cashmere scarf made specifically for this trip. The scarf itself featured rich embroidery depicting the vast forests and wildlife of The Frozen Forest. In one corner was embroidered Princess Chrysanthe Latimer's name in goldwork.

The pair arrived in the garden and were greeted by the young Princess. Arik mentally noticed and noted the faux pas of the Princess introducing herself before her handmaiden could. Other guests didn't seem to pick up on it or didn't care including Rose-but Arik recalled all the times he had made that same mistake. His father and others were always furious over little mistakes like that, but no one here seemed to mind.

Arik stepped away from the others and his sister and deposited his gift with the others. Rose wasn't paying him any attention and he thought about sneaking away into the garden before changing his mind hastily and rejoining her behind those from Ugokarinsky.

While everyone had the luxury of using private limousines or escorts, Bratsy decided not to bother with the fancy stuff, a Cab did just fine.

They arrive at the Royal Palace. "Very... Bavarian..." She thought to herself, although unsurprised. The Tsarina and her son step out of the cab to smell the Royal Garden, very lush, fragrant, and full of life, the gardeners are probably paid big money for trimming the bush alone. Into the main social area of the Palace, there were already a few prominent leaders and their children attending, the kids already seem pretty pumped up. Little Nicky hides behinds his mom, as any shy youngster would when surrounded by strangers, tightly holding onto his mother. "Don't be shy, go and play with the others." Bratsy encouraged the little guy, nudging him off her dress, "I'll be watching, so don't worry, mami." The little boy nodded and ran off to reluctantly play with the other children. Bratsy stood and watched her son, like any mother would, she sat down on one of the chairs that had been payed out and just watched as the children play. "What a quaint day..." She relaxed back into her seat, still keeping an eye on her son. Nothing out of the ordinary should happen, or would happen.

Ugokarinsky wrote:“Рад вас видеть!*” The Prince greets while performing a bow in a very formal style.

As soon as Margaret finished her speech the children scattered into a neat line to wish Her Highness a proper happy birthday. While a few others seem to be taking in the garden scenery a bit more, that's okay, it was nice to have people at the party, no need for formalities all the time! First up was Prince Vyacheslav of Ugokarinsky, who wished her a happy birthday.

"Milord Prince, thank you so much for the greeting! And thank you so much for coming to my party! This is going to be a lotta fun. And soon you'll get to meet my big brother and big sister too!"

She glanced over to the side there was someone else behind the Prince. "My Lord, won't you step over and have a tasty treat? We have lots of fresh baked goods for the party! Don't worry we'll have plenty of time to talk!" She smiled and grasped his hands then looked up over to Margaret who could see to the Prince getting something to eat.

Chrys waved Arik up to come greet her. "Good day! Thank you for coming to my party."

"Milady this is Lord Arik Björk." Margaret informed her.

"Good day, Milord! It's so nice to meet you" she smiled brightly, again, extending her hands to give a friendly greeting. "We'll be able to talk some more in just a little bit, why not have something yummy to eat!"

They were escorted to the gardens and it was one of the most enormous gardens they have ever seen. They had their own mansion for sure, but not a garden of this size.

“Go on Melty, go and introduce yourself,” Mirellia says to her daughter. Melty goes off to Princess Chrysanthe and introduces herself, meanwhile, Mirellia would stay back and quite possibly wander through the gardens.

As Melty approaches her, she curtsies in front of her, as anyone would to show respect.

“Your royal highness, my name is Melty Q Melromarc. It is a real honor to meet you. I hope we can be friends”.

The Manions walk into the gardens the three of them observing the scene around them with adults and other roaming around between the neatly maintained bushes and garden. Elizabeth notices a group of children lining up around the Princess and tells the girls to "go and greet the princess."

Erica and Lily get in line and when it gets to their turn Lily excitedly yells "Oh, oh it's to meet you Princess Chrysante, happy birthday, do you want to see the card we made you." She says handing her a hand written letter signed by the two of them. Erica slightly embarrassed shakes her head and slightly curtsies saying "Apologies regarding my sister, she is like that. The Prince beamed and then a puzzled expression crossed his face. Feeling embarrassed, he turned to Konstantin, a little unsure about what the Princess had said. Konstantin repeated it in Ugoskiy, and the confusion dissolved and his smile returned.

“Thank you! I will, Your Highness!” The Prince turned his gaze to Margaret briefly, then diverted it back at Konstantin. “May I?” He asked.

“Yes, Your Highness, as long as it is nothing too sweet. I’ll drop the gift and the cards over by the table and then meet you over there. Before you eat anything though, just be positive it’s safe for you.” Konstantin smiled softly, trying to relax a little. There wasn’t any reason to be so worried, yet he couldn’t help it.

The Prince followed Margaret and Konstantin watched him for a moment before remembering what he needed to do. He turned around and saw the long line of unfamiliar people behind him with the little Princess greeting them all excitedly. He really knew none of these people, or the nations from which they all came. Konstantin caught the eye of the girl in a very modest, but pretty dress who was right behind him. He smiled warmly at her before walking over towards the gift table. He set down the two cards, one hand-crafted by Prince Vyacheslav and the other sent by the Prince’s father. Konstantin reached into his pocket and carefully took out a very small box which contained an expensive necklace with the national flower of his country, the Derseviams rose, created out of pink diamond. It was hand-crafted in Ugokarinsky and incredibly valuable. After placing down the gift and the cards, Konstantin looked around for the Prince. He searched through the crowd of people before spotting his little cousin not too far off. Then Konstantin hurried back over to Prince Vyacheslav, who was gnawing daintily on some sort of bread pastry.

“Let’s walk around some. I’d like to see the garden more! And talk to some more people!” The Prince chimed, already heading off in a new direction with the half-eaten pastry still in his hand. The Count, amused by the Prince's eagerness and enthusiasm, followed Vyacheslav as he bounded over to a brighter floral area of the garden.

Flora entered the garden. She gawked at the flourishing trees. The garden was just so... big! It was unlike any garden she'd seen before, with it's perfectly trimmed plants and billowing fountain. Then she spotted the princess.

She ran over, grinning madly. "Hi, hi, hi! My name is Flora and I'm ten! Happy Birthday!" She blurted out, then running off to climb a tree.

Shyly, the boy lowered his head and mumbled "Yes, that's her." Immediately running away into the bushes of the garden.

Bratsy smiled and waved at Margaret, such a young lass, she's reminded of herself when she was around her age. Maybe she'll become a great inspiration for the Birthday girl when it becomes her turn to sit on the throne. She's fully relaxed into her chair now, sipping on the mysterious foreign drink the butlers have been handing out. Vaguely alcoholic... Wine perhaps?

Cutting back to Nicky, he's entranced by the garden, so fragrant, so floral, so colourful. He's so entranced, he doesn't notice that he had bumped into two caretakers. He even picked a pretty flower for the birthday girl, just a gift, of course, no hidden meaning. He wanders out of the bush and found himself with the other children. "Might as well join along whatever is going on, here" he thought.

It was really surprising when after answering her question he quickly ran off! "Huh? Did I say something?"

"Ohoho, no Milady, you're a perfect little lady here. I'm sure the Young Master is simply not used to meeting such a pretty young Princess such as yourself. Give him time, I'm sure during the party he'll warm up to you soon. Let's welcome our next set of guests."

"Okay." Chrysanthe replied.

"If you go around the gardens some, have fun!" Chrysanthe wished "I hope you'll be back for tea!" She waved him goodbye.

It wasn't much longer the older Princess Peri emerged in the garden, dressed in a lovely dress and cute hat herself but she kept quiet not wanting to make a scene and distract from her sister's special day. There was another maid in tow with her as well, Sara Anne, her own personal maid in the same way Margaret was the personal maid for Chrysante. "Mylady, I do wonder where your brother is?" Sara asked Peri.

"I don't know. I ran into Mr. Foster and he said Linely has already come to the garden so he must be around here somewhere."

"I would expect Milord would be out here."

"I'm sure he's around here somewhere, you know Linely, I'll keep my eye out for him."

Cartoonia wrote:“Your royal highness, my name is Melty Q Melromarc. It is a real honor to meet you. I hope we can be friends”.

"That's a strange name but that's okay because I'm sure my name is kind of strange to you too! I want to be good friends with you as well, Melty! We're gonna have fun today, right now have some tasty treats on the table over there! Or you can always wait until tea time!"

Margaret patted Chrys's shoulder as a sweet affirmative way to tell her "Milady, you're doing wonderful." It was taking a lot of patience and restrain to remember her court manners that had been drilled into her since she could walk and talk.

"Hello, Flora, thanks for coming! You're a year older than me? That's so awesome! Anyway I'm almost done up here so please help yourself to something sweet!" Well to much surprise it seemed Flora decided it was time to climb one of the trees of the garden.

"My oh my." Margaret giggled then called out to Flora, "Young Miss, please do be careful."

Arik took his leave as he was dismissed by the young princess. He watched as the other children went up and were introduced, meeting with her and being offered something sweet. Deciding to take the princess up on that offer he made his way over to some of the food. After lookin it over for a long minute he eventually settled on a small chocolate chip cookie. Arik took a bite and felt the chocolate begin to dissolve in his mouth-it was well made. Over analyzing brought him to the conclusion that Abettons monarchy wasn't poor being that they were able to afford so much sweet food, made by obviously experienced bakers.

After eating two more cookies Arik looked around at the other children. He noticed one kid who ran away from the princess and towards a bunch of bushes in the garden. Arik thought that was curious and made his way towards the boy. As he approached the boy made his way out of the bushes and joined the other children. Arik came close and stuck his hand out in greeting. He didn't recognize the boy as he hadn't been on the dossier prepared earlier. "Hello, my name is Arik. What's your name?"

__

Rose found herself in the gardens as Arik went to meet the Princess. While maybe she herself should have been introduced, she was really only there to chaperone and it wasn't that important that the princess meet her as opposed to Arik. As parties typically went she expected to be pulled away eventually to small talk with the other older folk, something she wasn't a fan of so she felt the desire to steal away a few minutes in the gardens, to see what Abetton had to offer in terms of flora. She wasn't disappointed as she smelled beautiful flowers and saw exotic ferns and trees that she hadn't seen before back home.

Before long she found herself close by to the Ugokarinskians. She noticed them before they noticed her and for a moment she thought about turning and leaving to find her cousin before summoning the determination to march up and meet them officially. Feeling subconscious again about her dress she remembered that the older Konstantin had waved to her and appeared friendly enough. Taking a deep breath she made her way over to the pair, a bright smile replacing her nervous expression. As she approached she gave a small curtsy for the young Prince Vyacheslav. "Milords, are you enjoying the garden?"

Rose studied Konstantin more carefully than the young Prince. Being so close made certain details apparent that she had previously misjudged. Konstantin appeared younger in person than he did in photos, and he looked far less serious.

The Prince was examining the species of flowers he had never seen before. They were all so bold and brightly colored, and so many types! There were not a lot of flowers seen in northern Ugokarinsky, where the royal family resided, as it was one of the coldest places in the world and frequently frozen and covered in snow. In fact, for the two Ugokarinskians it was a rather hot day, even though to most it would have been a pleasant day. Someone walked up to the two Ugoskvs and initiated a conversation. The Prince whipped his head around, eager to talk with more people.

“Здравствуйте! *Здравствуйте!” The Prince excitedly greeted hello in Ushian to the girl who approached him and his cousin. “The garden is **замечательный! Are you a princess? **Откуда ты? What-”

Konstantin stepped in front of the Prince feeling rather embarrassed by his excessive talking. He smiled nervously. “Sorry about His Highness. He gets carried away and doesn’t know much English.” Konstantin saw it was the girl that was behind him in line to greet the Princess. He didn't realize how much shorter she was then him, but then again, he was over six feet tall. “Oh, the garden is quite nice. I’m Count Konsantin, and this is His Royal Highness Prince Vyacheslav. Who are you, ***Госпожа…? I hope you’re enjoying the garden as well?”

*Hello! Hello!
**Wonderful! / Where are you from?

Rose smiled and knelt down so that she was eye level with the young Prince as he began to speak in a tongue entirely foreign to her. Between some of the strange words were bits and pieces of English that took Rose a minute to pick out. What the young prince couldn't convey in English was apparent from his exuberant body language though as he seemed thrilled to meet Rose, catching her slightly off guard. Rose shook her head at the Prince's question.

"Maybe, do you think I'm a Princess?" Rose stood up as Konstantin cut the Prince off. She allowed her eyes to travel up to his and held her attention on his goofy smile for a moment. Strangely enough her initial reluctance melted away despite the sizable height difference between her and Konstantin. Whereas her tone had been gentle, almost motherly with the Prince her voice changed as she spoke to Konstantin, taking on a more serious albeit still informal and friendly tone.

"It's no trouble at all. It's a pleasure to meet you Count Konstantin and you as well, your majesty." Rose offered a smaller curtsy as the Prince was introduced. "My name is Rose Catrin Weimar. I'm here with my young cousin Arik, though right now he's meeting with Princess Chrysanthe." Rose looked towards one of the nearby flowers that she had seen earlier. It had a bright white hue, it's soft petals flaked with specs of purple and orange. "This garden is beautiful. Maybe not so great as those back home but still magnificent in it's own right. I think that flower right there is the only one that I've seen before. Back home we call it the Skína flower. It's actually the flower my father used to propose to my mother."

Rose thought back to her parents. As long as Rose could remember her father had always gone out to buy flowers for her mother, and the Skína flower had always found it's way into their flower vases. How strange it was to see it here in Abetton. "Are there may flowers where you come from?"

As Rose talked to the Prince, his smile grew bigger. The prince nodded. “I think so.” He had already taken a liking to this newcomer. The Prince performed a small bow to Rose in return to her curtsy.

Konstantin felt a small tug on his leg, the young Prince signalling to his cousin to translate for him, just to be sure he understood. He repeated it all in the strange language of Ugoskiy, which rarely anyone outside of the country knew because of the unique Cheilith alphabet and the difficulty of learning it. Then Konstantin looked back to Rose. She gestured over to a bright white flower which Konstantin had never seen and told him about it. He examined it closely, his eyes noting the soft bits of orange and purple flicked over the white base color. It reminded him of a painter flicking his brush on a blank canvas. It wasn’t an incredibly busy flower with a vibrant and noisy hue; it was graceful and enrapturing in its own simple way. “A Skína flower? I’ve never heard of those.”

Konstantin thought of his mother and father for a moment, glancing away. “That’s so sweet.” He added after hearing Rose say the Skína flower was the one her father used to propose. The Count seemed to be lost in his own train of thought for a second until the sound of Rose’s question brought him back to attention.

“Oh. Sorry. No, not many. Throughout the southernmost parts of Ugokarinsky, our national flower, the Derseviams rose can be found, and various others. Though where the Young Prince and I come from, it is a continental climate. We live in the subarctic regions of our country, Ugokarinsky, and the land is frozen and snow-covered for most of the year. The tundras in Ugokarinsky are the coldest areas and are, for the most part, uninhabited. The Prince and I are not used to such warm weather.” Konstantin realized how much he had talked. “Apologies for my rambling, Госпожа Weimar. What about you? Where do you hail from?”

Rose stepped towards the Skína flower as Konstantin considered it. Without missing a beat she knelt down and touched the base of the flower, running her finger up the stem in a single smooth motion. The flower reacted by curling it's petals downwards, revealing the flowers stigma. After a short moment the flowers petals had curled entirely under it's head and a sweet aroma reminiscent of jasmine. Some people thought that the flower brought good fortune, others thought it brought love or wealth or power. Rose didn't quite know what to think, but she always enjoyed the smell of the Skína flower and the way it reacted when touched. It made her feel calm and reassured. Looking towards Konstantin she noticed that he looked deep in thought.

As Konstantin's attention was reigned back in Rose stood and heard him out. He talked about a flower called the Derseviam Rose, a flower she had never heard of before and the dossier had not mentioned. Rose listened as he began to talk about his homeland of Ugokarinsky, the climate and where he and the Prince were from.

"You're passionate about your home, that's nothing to apologize over." Rose mentally noted the details that Konstantin had mentioned. She thought that Ugokarinsky sounded similar to The Northern Territories region of her own nation. "I was born in The Frozen Forest." Rose brought her eyes up to meet Konstantin, searching them for any hint of laughter. "Despite the name it isn't always frozen over, nor is it all a forest. My people are descendants of ancient Camelonean Norse that discovered The Frozen Forest centuries ago. Technically my father is a foreigner, but my mother was a member of House Bjork, the ruling family of the Kingdom. I was born in the capital city of Truvaria, but we moved to the southwest when i was a little girl, it's a bit warmer and calmer there. Since I turned twelve my father has been sending me around the world to treat with foreign leaders, I don't imagine that'll stop until I'm married off to some old stranger."

Rose caught herself and blushed hot red. She realized that she might have revealed too much about herself to someone she didn't really know. She looked away for a long minute before turning back to Konstantin. "I suppose it's my turn to apologize, I'm sure you don't want to hear about trivial things like that. Do you and the Prince often travel out of the country?"

Well Hi, i joined NS on Feb 1st, 2013 under the name Aztec of america and have been on Nationstates since. I don't bite, so don't be afraid to say hello.

This was one of the first actual RP posts I ever made on Nationstates. I wrote it eight years ago. This is a post I wrote two years ago. Konstantin watched in silent awe at the reaction of the flower to Rose’s touch. Though it wasn’t obvious, he was entranced by such a simple thing and the flower’s pleasant aroma it released. There wasn’t anything quite like it back in his homeland. The Prince watched as well, his eyes wide. “Это так круто!!! So cool!” It was so foreign to him. Vyacheslav had never seen anything like it before.

Konstantin gave a very soft, amused smile, though his eyes displayed his mild confusion. He had never heard of such a place. He hadn’t really heard of anything Rose talked about, which only grabbed his attention and intrigued him more. He listened carefully and intently to Rose as she talked about her home, her parents, and herself. Since Rose was twelve she had been travelling the world. Konstantin was surprised. It was one of his first times out of the country, and he was fifteen.

“No, it’s really quite alright, you’re passionate about your home as well. It’s all rather interesting to me. I’ve never heard of The Frozen Forest before.” Konsantin proclaimed, feeling embarrassed and casting his eyes to the side.

Then the attention was returned back to Konstantin as Rose asked him another question. He turned his gaze back to her and shook his head slightly. “Not much. This is His Highness’s first time out of the country. I’m honestly surprised he was even allowed to leave. The Royal family can be quite protective of their only son and heir. I was assigned to accompany His Highness to this party because I am practically a brother to him and know how to keep him out of trouble. I suppose in the future he will attend many more events such as these, but I doubt I’ll go with him every time. As for me, I’ve been out of Ugokarinsky only one other time.”

Then the Prince hopped in, shooting a question of his own. “Can I visit your country?” Before anyone could get a word in the eccentric kid carried on. “And can I meet Arik? You should come to Ugokarinsky.”
