Frédéric thought someone was playing a very silly joke on him. This was no time to be doing it. So, he was even more surprised when a fork showed up, and somehow started speaking, delivering the Vartugian points.

"Hello, I am a spoon and here is the five points from Darkmania"

"Oh for God's sake", Frédéric thought. Here was a fork called knife who claimed it was a spoon. Had he gone mad? Was someone actually messing with him? Was this all a bad dream? He started nipping himself, he'd heard that was a good way to be able to tell, but as he did so, the five points were actually announced, and they went to...

Frédéric still wasn't sure something wasn't going on, but, having ascertained at least that he was awake, and the points having been delivered, he swiftly moved onto the next set of votes...

Frédéric, who was very happy to hear a spokesperson speaking in French for the first time that evening, and was just pleased that Nadine was clearly sane and actually a normal human being, gave an effusive thanks to Nadine, before moving on to the next country...

Things seemed to be turning up rather well for Frédéric, as the weird part of the night seemed to have been left behind, and indeed there was more French, which suited him perfectly (not that he was paying any attention language-wise anyway, of course)

Luckily, he would not be in this conference centre for that long, a fact he consoled himself with as it turned out listening to other human voices had done little to console him at this particular point in time

Being caught in a snowstorm sounded attractive to Frédéric right now, he was certainly sweating enough under the heavy lights around him. In any case. that was one half down. That could be a positive, he only had half to go. On the other hand, he still had half the phase to go, and he knew the tension was going to ramp up from here. He wasn't made for this. But, he'd taken the money from SRNP so he had to carry on anyway...

Frédéric really hoped Annabelle didn't notice this time, as obvious as it was. At least he would be hidden from the millions watching around the world by the graphics, which was a little relief

The crowd in the MegaCité, rather docile up to this point, suddenly burst into life, as did households across Normandy and Picardy as the five points were announced. Shots of the celebrating crowd in the Place du Dons in the centre of Amiens were shown for a moment, before, as the final sets quickly approached, and the music slowly became ever more tense, Frédéric moved the show on...

At this point, Frédéric grabbed a Kalosian dictionary out of his pocket which had been in there, having been part of a sketch during the interval which no one watched in which he talked about learning Kalosian, and the humour that ensues from that. He was persisting with it anyway bless him. And, in fairness to him, he had decided to start learning it, a holiday in Kalosia might be a nice break after this...

There was more umming and erring in the crowd as things became ever closer at the top, and Frédéric actually began to slow down a bit. This last bit might actually be rather fun after all, he started thinking to himself, as they moved on to the next set of votes...

Everything had been running very smoothly up to this point. Suspiciously smooth, in fact. And that was about to change, as the fact I even raised the fact surely suggests...

Everything went absolutely haywire as Ertzei Kishim took the lead once more. Frédéric pleaded with them to calm down, and actually managed to get them to do so relatively quickly, a skill he didn't know he had. And now, there were only two votes left, so he realised he might need to put it to use again...

He definitely felt the burden of responsibility on him now, as there were only two votes remaining until there was to be a winner...

The crowds across Amiens and beyond - though only the ones in Amiens were shown - went absolutely wild as Normandy and Picardy climbed back up to second. Could they do it? Frédéric meanwhile pleaded with the crowd in the MegaCité to calm down. He didn't quite succeed, but he got it to a low enough level so that he could carry on...

There was just one more set left. The five points that would crown a winner. And Frédéric actually quivered slightly, remembering being back in a very similar situation in Todlichebujoku last contest. Now it was going to be time for him to hand on the trophy, but who to...

They'd done it! They'd done it? They'd done it! No one in the MegaCité, least of all Frédéric could believe it at all. The cameras quickly jumped to Alys who had been sitting nervously waiting all night, jumping up and down like mad. She couldn't believe it. No one could...

[Normandy and Picardy]

As Alys and the Normand delegation celebrated, essentially partying with the crowd inside the MegaCité (whose behaviour at this point was a pretty decent example of what was happening across the country at this point, unsurprisingly), the feed across the Multiverse very suddenly cut back to Frédéric, even catching him off-guard and he danced alongside in a very dad-dancy manner to the victory music being played in the arena. It turned out there had been a cockup... Not a major one though, the winner was still Normandy and Picardy. However, as he was very rapidly being told via his earpiece, it was Frédéric's job to announce that Axuva's points had caused some difficulties and needed to be corrected...

Alors, primo, félicitations à toi, Alys. Deuxièmement, avant le début de la fête, nous venons d'être dû par le superviseur que les votes d'Axuve ont été erronés. Le cinq points sont attribués encore à l'Ertzei Kishim, mais ici les points de quatre à un. Trois points sont attribués au Rhim Flavezztowland plutôt que Calosie, et un point est attribués à la Beepee
So, firstly, congratulations to you, Alys. Secondly, before the partying starts, we have just been informed by the overseer that the Axuvan votes were incorrect. Five points are still given to Ertzei Kishim, but here are the points from four to one. Three points are given to Rhim Flavezztowland rather than Kalosia, and one point is given to Beepee

And with that the credits began to role as, in the background, Alys could be seen walking, finally, onto the stage where Frédéric was waiting to pass her the trophy for this contest. Frédéric himself also received an award given he was the main credited songwriter, a fact which had made the final moments of voting even more tense for him than they might have been. It also meant he had won in some way in two contests in a row, though of course this was Alys' moment to shine. The two hugged and started chatting as the programme, at last, after many, many hours came to an end...
