A general religion thread seems to me to be far too broad in scope for NSG, given previous commentary from moderation, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been locked already. As Reppy stated here:

What qualifies for a megathread?

• A topic which has at its focus a specific, singular subject, such as a current news event (IE: election thread, anti-police protests), a frequent recurring debate (IE: abortion, gun control), or a political figure (IE: the US president.)
• Discussion on that specific, singular subject as the thread's primary focus, not simple socializing motivated by underlying interest in the subject. Conversational drift is okay, but it must remain on that specific, singular primary focus.

I think you're right.

I originally let it go because, despite the title, it seemed to start as yet another 'does God exist?' thread; which are hardly unique, but are also legitimate.

But now that it's turned into a general religion discussion thread, I think it does clearly come under the policy and precedent that you've outlined here.

I'll now go and lock it, though with some explanation.
