[q] Leaving food tradition

Postby Catsfern » Tue Mar 02, 2021 2:04 pm

I have a small question about moderation customs. In a lot of report threads once the offending post is addressed the initial reporter will often say something along the lines of thanks moderator *Leaves various foodstuffs*. I'm just curious as to A. how that tradition got started? and B. do you moderators enjoy it?

Someone just posted a food offering and it caught. I can't remember when or who. It's okay, I guess, though sometimes I wish people wouldn't because is make the report thread look as if it still needs attention.

So the moderation preference is no further response including thanks as it puts more work on moderation?

The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

My preference, I can't speak for the rest of them. They'd just deny it if I did, anyway.

That's my preference. I find it annoying. I try to read every post in Moderation, and that's 20-30 clicks a day or more that I consider a waste of time.

I think some of them like it. I honestly don't understand why.

Free food? Some people like the odd traditions that exist much like the use of Deat, though the term it's definitely less intrusive then the thank yous which I have and probably will continue to participate in.

Fair enough, makes more work as you have recheck the thread, unintended consequences are everywhere.

I guess it could be annoying given that you already said it can waste time. If I usually report things and it gets handled, I just give a generic "thank you" gesture without any offerings.
