We have sovereignty to refuse to implement legislation that substantially deviates from the stated mission of the WA .

"No, you do not. Please consult General Assembly Resolution #2, entitled 'Rights and Duties of WA States'. You have no such sovereignty. As a member state, you surrender a degree of sovereignty to the World Assembly. Specifically," Ogenbond, having found the page he was looking for, clears his throat and recites,
Every WA Member State has the duty to carry out in good faith its obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law, including this World Assembly, and it may not invoke provisions in its constitution or its laws as an excuse for failure to perform this duty.

"Refusal to adhere to the mandates of World Assembly law is forbidden by your membership with this body."
We requested clarification of terminology without satisfaction. Allowing the implementation of such irresponsible legislation fails to align with the entire structure of the WA

"No, it does not. I will advise you that there exist several enforcement mechanisms to prevent and punish noncompliance such as yours. Miles, take this to that person over there."

Ogenbond hands a folder to an aide, who runs across the voting chamber to the ambassador from DeerField Cove. The aide hands them the folder, which can be found to contain copies of GAR #390, GAR #440, and GAR #466.

Thanks for all the creative assistance

We are distraught over the fact that the WA and Security Council would allow legislation that would bind itself and it's members from defending themselves.

Some of us are actually on the front line defending our nations and this is just irresponsible.

The WA Actually provided it's own GAR 440 that says this type of legislation should never be brought up to vote

I was so excited about getting involved but apparently that's pointless.

Thanks for throwing out all the criticism. I hope y'all enjoy the effects of the LEGISLATION you pass on yourselves without even contemplating the effects.

I tried to be proactive. I've seen what happens.

May God bless you and your nations.

"I see no actual criticism on your part, Ambassador. Good, bad, or anywhere in between. You're just loudly proclaiming the intent of your home nation to be a rogue state, and to suffer the consequences of noncompliance."

Speaker: J. Robert Oppenheimer

"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

J. Robert Oppenheimer was an American physicist who most people probably know as the Father of the Atomic Bomb. Geez. We're not sure you'd want to claim responsibility for raising a kid like that.

In 1942, Oppenheimer took charge of the famous Manhattan Project and oversaw the creation of a nuclear weapon that was later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during World War II, killing at least 100,000 people in the process. Wow. No wonder death was on his mind.

Oppenheimer recalled that when he first saw the atomic bomb tested in the desert of New Mexico on July 16, 1945, his mood was grim. Sure, he had achieved a big new discovery through years of hard work (yay, science!), but he couldn't help but reflect on the fact that all his knowledge and ingenuity were going to be used to kill people.

Years later, Oppenheimer reflected on this moment and shared his thoughts with the world. It's also worth noting that Oppenheimer wasn't super psyched about the way his creation was used in the war, so it's no surprise that he'd look back and remember this moment as one of power and achievement, mixed with a whole lot of sadness. Yup, the atomic bomb is bittersweet to say the least.

As he witnessed the first detonation of a nuclear weapon on July 16, 1945, a piece of Hindu scripture ran through the mind of Robert Oppenheimer: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds”. It is, perhaps, the most well-known line from the Bhagavad-Gita, but also the most misunderstood.

With this solemn moment remembered, my excitement subdued and in my own defense, let it be known that I was in fact, attempting to be the greatest ally by stopping the scientist from building the atomic bomb. I have never experienced anything but the negative effects of the legislation in this thought experiment and attempted to stop legislation from taking form by every means possible. If that's rogue. So be it.

Apparently we have already been stuck on the USS Eldridge, they already dropped the atomic bomb, CERN has already unleashed a black hole and this legislation only consists of words that cast a spell on those who believe in it.

Punish away as you feel just and fit.

Peace.

Notokiwa: (Measured but celebratory.) Congratulations on the resolution's passage, Ambassador McCooley. I look forward to seeing this valuable and common-sense ordinance enforced throughout the nations of the World Assembly.
