I went on YouTube and searched "creating my own country" and found a few videos on this site. I was interested in it and here I am now

I kept searching for an online nation building game and I landed on a few NS clones I hated until I followed the thread back here-and so here I remain most excellently, like five years and countless failed nation concepts later lol.

Googled "Country Builder Games." Made my first Nationstate with my dad. Outside of RP, I only posted in the SW thread up to a few years ago. Certain elements in that thread decided to bring their politics into it and got that account banned. Now I research politics and post in general occasionally because my entertainment has been weaponized by both sides. You could have media and you could have education, but you shouldn't have touched my entertainment.

I had gone back to college for a refresher course and was in the computer lab wasting time with P2P progs, trying to figure out IRC, delving into Forsaken, MadRom, and Rivers of Mud (text based MMOs), and playing some game on the Jolt server (I dont remember which). Loving dystopian novels, I saw an advert for Jennifer Government and then stumbled upon Nation-States when it was still on Jolt. I gave my copy of Jennifer Government to a friend and never got it back. My original nation is long gone (I can't even remember the name).

I rediscovered NS from seeing a copy of Jennifer Government in 2012 while convalescing from a horrific TBI and eventually created Narland originally as a parody of Pioneer Western States. My other nations created since then have gone to the boneyard, but Narland still drives on. NS helped see me through some pretty rough times while healing up and getting my brain screwed on straight. Some would say that it was never on straight, but some of the people on NS have been very patient and helpful nonetheless.

Back in '07 someone on an internet forum made a post about it, I joined and played around on it for awhile. No idea what my first nation was called. Then in 2010 I got bored and remembered that nation simulator. Then I took another break and in at the start of 2012 I made Page just because I had a cool RP idea but I needed to make a new nation to fit with it and I have stuck with it ever since, disappearing from time to time.

I was looking for a 'create your kingdom" thing, and NationStates was a) the only site that didn't require an email to join, and b) not crap, even though I wanted something more like a Simcity-esque game or what have you. I then discovered the forums and the rest was history, given that the gameplay itself is boring as all hell.

Used to play back in high school sometime around '06 or '07 after a friend of mine introduced me to it. He wanted a few people in his region, and I signed up. Stopped playing maybe a year or two later. I've been doing a lot of writing occupationally of late, and I got bored yesterday, figured I'd sign back up and play God a bit more. It's a good outlet to hone the craft.
