STORY PLOT AND INFORMATION
A list of plot-based information for the story as well as reference material

Main Objective
The main objective of "The Acrimony of Brothers" as of (2/12/2021) is to further explain the Timeline of the Confederate States with material that shall be considered canon and historically accurate for Anagonia. All participants are effectively defining critical historical moments that changed the course of Anagonian history while assisting the Story OP with hashing out and clearly elaborating on a more perfect timeline.

Geographical Information of Anagonia
Image

Total Landmass (Anagonia, Nodea Rudav, Drekamythia): 19,867,500 Square Kilometers (7,670,884 Square Miles)
Total Landmass (Anagonia): 10,535,000 Kilometers Squared (4,067,586 Square Miles)

The Anagonian Continent is comprised of three separate, independent nations that are deeply intertwined on an economic, societal, and historical level. At one point during the history of Anagonia, all three nations existed as a whole nation under the governmental banner of a United Republic. After the subsequent collapse of the United Republic, the provinces of Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia declared independence from Anagonia proper and continue into the modern era as Sovereign Provinces. While all three nations work together closely to continue mutual cooperation and economic partnership, it would be remiss to declare the two Provinces under any authority of the modern-day Confederate States of Anagonia.

The Confederate States of Anagonia is displayed above with regards to its seven sovereign states that comprise its national structure. Listed below is the proper names and government types of these states.

The Seven States of the Confederacy
-The Commonwealth of Lexington
-The Sovereign Republic of Liberty
-The Republic of Arkansis
-The Grand Republic of Orgath
-The Confederal Republic of Plymouth
-The Commonwealth of Saratoga
-The Sovereign Empire of Imperius

To the west of the Anagonian mainland lays West Islands. This is a Territorial Republic, belonging to the national structure of the Confederate States and not essentially an independent republic, but capable of being so. It is traditionally a military training ground and location to one of the primary launch complexes (West Islands Launch Complex) of the Confederate Aeronautics and Space Administration. It also houses one of the largest fleet naval bases in the country, the West Islands Naval Complex. The Territory of the West Islands is traditionally assumed to belong to the Commonwealth of Saratoga, with the majority of taxes and associated expenses shared therein with the Confederate Government.

Imperius is the only state in the Confederacy not operating under a Republic or Democratic form of government. Traditionally, the government of Imperius has always had an Imperial Family, either with close blood ties to the Lord Emperor of Drekamythia or the Imperial Family of Drekamythia. After the fall of the United Republic and following the unification efforts of Tiberius Samsus, a referendum was held to decide the fate of Imperius; stay a state in the new Confederacy or rejoin the Imperial Drekamythian Empire. The decision was majority vote to stay within the Confederacy, under the compromise that the form of Imperial government remain the same. This decision was fully respected by the newly formed Confederate States and the sovereign rights of Imperius continue to be honored to present day.

Timeline Information
It is critical to understand that the record of timekeeping for Anagonia is slightly different than other nations. Due to several events in canon which were effectively resolved through A Neverending Tale, there exists a temporal anomaly that has effectively skipped several decades or more of time for residents of Anagonia. As such, the reference of date and explanation shall be elaborated below.

CURRENT YEAR FOR ANAGONIA
-- 105 Years after United Republic, 2092 AD (Current timeframe for Gholgoth Equivalent assumed to be 2031 AD)
YEAR OF "The Acrimony of Brothers"
-- 45 Years after United Republic, 2031 AD (Sometime between 1971-1972 AD equivalent)

Plot Information
The Main Plot of "The Acrimony of Brothers" essentially revolves around critical events that explain the necessity for the formation of the Confederate States Intelligence Agency. The formation of the CSIA is the intended end result of the plot, with subsequent events transpiring within the story to further support the creation and formation of the CSIA. Participants of the thread have expressed interest in following along with the Storymasters suggestion of utilizing outside influencers to antagonize either intentionally or unintentionally political elements within the fledgling democratic apparatus of Anagonia into a state of tensions leading to a possible civil war. At this juncture, another key component of the plot is to transpire, which is to test the limits of the Anagonian Constitution insofar as to tolerance of rebellion by states and citizens.

Plot Synopsis
This Synopsis is still a work in progress.

Forty-seven years ago, the United Republic of Anagonia was defeated in a World War at the hands of the Ordenite Reich. Massive war reparations were enforced upon the United Republic, resulting in a straining of the federal apparatus that eventually led to its total collapse. One year and five months of civil war followed, bloody infighting that forced brother against brother in a struggle to maintain what was left of civilization. Following the eventual rise of Colonel Tiberius Samsus and his march across Anagonia for unification, the foundation of the Confederacy was born. Since that time, the Confederate States has been left relatively untested in the unity of its cause, leaving the fledgling democracy to grow upon its own devices. Yet not all is as it seems.

The Greater Ordenite Reich, having a stern hatred of the Anagonian, has unleashed agents of deceit and destruction within the political apparatus of the young nation. Inspiring division and distrust, the agents of the Reich do not go unnoticed by outside observers. Slowly, multitudes of international entities take notice, sending their own agents to counter or support the objectives of the Reich. Eventually the situation boils over, leading to a national crisis unlike anything seen in Anagonia since the civil war.

Possible Avenues of Antagonism
It is generally agreed that all Participants will enact agents of foreign influence to exacerbate the tense political climate in Anagonia. There are, however, other elements at play. During the year and six month civil war, the Imperial Drekamythian Empire and Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav both attempted to invade Anagonia and retake land they claimed as theirs. Nodea Rudav attempted to reclaim the Commonwealth of Saratoga and Drekamythia attempted to reclaim the Sovereign Empire of Imperius. Tiberius Samsus led his armies to defeat these incursions, further unifying the fragile unity of the states. Howevere, the resentment over these defeats still lingers and could be a possible point of stress.

The main avenue of antagonizing the fragility of the fledgling democracy is through its political apparatus, which while not mature at the time that "The Acrimony of Brothers" takes place, offers up diverse opportunities for exploitation.

Political Entities of Interest
-- The Confederate Nationalist Party (Centralized power base in the states of the Sovereign Republic of Liberty and the Confederal Republic of Plymouth)
Brief Summary:
The Confederate National Party was founded by then-Colonel Tiberius Samsus, later the First President of the Nation, whom is widely considered to be the founding father of the Confederacy. As such, their ideals are directly influenced by the Constitution of the Confederate States, and can be generally considered to be the party of die-hard Constitutionalists. They strongly value devolution of central government authority and believe that the prosperity and unity of the nation relies heavily on the success and strength of independent and sovereign states within the Confederacy, enforced by mutual cooperation through the Judicial and Legislative Branch of the Confederate government. The goals of the Confederate National Party are pretty straightforward: They favor devolution and states-rights, as well as maintaining law and order between states as well as fair and equal state representation within the legal and judicial system. They believe firmly that the success of the economy lays directly with the success of states. The Confederate National Party believes in a strong military, and this in some regards gains them most of the mutual cooperation with the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia, though they still have a majority of opposing ideals. They work closely with the Libertarian Party, whose ideals match those of the Constitution in terms of personal liberties. They have a love/hate relationship with the Federalist Party which includes mutual cooperation on matters of economic business as well as prosperity of the nation. They work closely with the Socialist Party of Anagonia, insofar as providing for citizenry is concerned through various social welfare programs.

-- The Federalist Party (Split influencing the states of the Sovereign Republic of Liberty as well as the Republic of Arkansis and the Grand Republic of Orgath)
Brief Summary:
The Federalist Party is a holdover of the federalist ideals from the United Republic, though without the warhawk strategy and massive government corruption. It is the belief of the federalist party that a stronger, more perfect union can be achieved by sacrificing some of the rights of the states in favor of centralizing government authority. As such, they generally support any political maneuvering that seeks to further these goals. They favor a strong, centralized national economy backed by a capitalist system. They're basically the party of banks, economic prosperity, and central federal authority. They work closely with the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia and have a love/hate relationship with the Confederate National Party. They are opposed occasionally by the Confederate National Party, though it is not uncommon for both parties to work together when it is matters of the economy and prosperity. They are directly opposed by the Socialist Party of Anagonia.

-- Socialist Party of Anagonia (strong support in the state of the Commonwealth of Saratoga)
Brief Summary:
Effectively Social Democrats, the Socialist Party of Anagonia is heavily influenced by political rhetoric from the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav. Unlike their opposites in the Fascist Party, the Socialist Party does not deny this influence. Instead they allow their actions speak of their intentions, and through their influence the Confederacy has established various social welfare programs designed to better the impoverished of the country. As such, they are typically favored by the poorer of the country and those outside the walks of normal society. They favor any decision that maintains the democratic traditions of the country and strongly support welfare programs and state run social programs. They work closely with the Confederate National Party and the Libertarian Party. They are opposed strongly by the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia as well as the Federalist Party.

-- Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia (strong support in the state of the Sovereign Empire of Imperius)
Brief Summary:
The Fascist Party is concerned with the national security of the country. They're essentially the favored party of diehard military and imperialist supporters as well as leftover warhawk sympathizers groups from the days of the United Republic. They favor direct, central control by figureheads and prompt security response as well as direct interventionism in international affairs concerning the security of the nation. This combined makes their main focus that of domestic and foreign security, and they'd likely be in favor of isolationism. Perplexingly, they are also heavily influenced by the political machinations of the Imperial Drekamythian Empire, though fervently deny any allegations as to such. They work closely with the Federalist Party and are Opposed strongly by the Socialist Party of Anagonia. They have a mild working relationship with the Confederate National Party.

-- The Libertarian Party (Mild influence in all states to some degree, with high centralized support in the state of the Commonwealth of Lexington)
Brief Summary:
The Libertarian Party is the favored party of citizens who value the least government and state interference. They believe in low taxation, if none at all, and programs that allow citizens to directly influence the outcome of local, state, and national government decisions. Due to their strong belief that each individual has a right to their own version of happiness, they are the favored party of LGBTQ groups as well as non-human groups. They believe each citizen should be well armed and trained to defend themselves, and support the national decision for mandatory military service. They work closely with the Confederate National Party and are generally unopposed by anyone other party.

THE DEEP KRAKENS BE SNEAKY BASTAGES

Postby The Caleshan Valkyrie » Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:41 pm

Caleshan Involvement

The Caleshan are an isolationist people, largely unheard of by the world at large. This policy was agreed upon by all of the Caleshan Tribes, and is held to quite faithfully by those tribes with any semblance of authority. However, there is one tribe that functions as a sort of thematic black sheep among the Caleshan: The Deep Krakens.

Taking the idea of Cutthroat Mercantilism to the bitter extreme, their appearance is considered a kind of myth among maritime circles as a bogeyman of the sea. They rise from the depths, plunder and pillage what they can, and vanish beneath the waves before any kind of organized defense can be mounted. There are rumors that they have even stolen entire cargos without ever being noticed, leaving nothing but an empty hold and a circular portion of the inner hull sporting signs of fresh welding. They trade for weapons and technology, and the extent of their operations remains unknown to all but the savviest of Caleshan leaders.

But though the Deep Krakens might aim more for the immediate payoff, the concept of a long-term operation is not beyond their ken. Anagonia is a coastal realm, and it is fractured and fractious, and the political strife and turmoil are as blood in the water amidst the most vicious of sharks. War is on the horizon, and if it is properly managed and cultivated, it can yield a bountiful harvest indeed. They aim to inflame the situation on terms of their choosing, to play sides against each other, and profit off the backs of all the 'outsiders' whose backs they can profit off of. They aim to get away with all they can, keep those who would resist them at each others' throats, and kill any who might try to disrupt their plan.

Their desired prizes: weapons, technology, weapons technology, precious metals, and maybe even the occasional WMD.

How wondrous would it be to hold entire nations hostage and saddle someone else with the blame? Such glorious deception and mischief is the Deep Krakens' 'Path to Valhalla', their means to glory and highest aspiration. Woe betide those who seek to undo their plans, however, moreso to those who seek to try and bend their plans or beat them to the proverbial treasure!

Primary Mover:

Cala Vestekhen Deep Kraken

"I am a student of the art of war. Let this land be my canvas! There are so many colors for me to work with, such majesty I shall create!"

Age: 42
Height: 5'8''
Weight: 140 lbs
Eye Color: Glacier Blue
Hair Color: Ice white
Marital Status: Single, 6 children
Education: Elder (Communications and Psychology), Master (Caleshar Style Martial Arts), Urban/Close Combat Specialization
Responds Favorably To: Ingenuity, determination

The Deep Krakens are known among the Caleshan for playing fast and free with the tenets of the Convocation Compact. Though the Caleshan are an isolated people, the Deep Kraken tribe spends most of its time and effort roving the open seas and seeking out opportunities at material and political gain. Though they are loathe to show it, they are secretly one of the most powerful tribes among the Caleshan simply because of their work in procuring outside resources. They see all outsiders as prey or chattel, though they are quick to make use of such outsiders if it is to their benefit to do so. They will use such resources as they see fit, and cast them aside when their usefulness has ended.

In this midst of this, Cala Deep Kraken weaves a web of deceit and conspiracy with the goals of the ultimate prize: ripping an entire nation out from under the feet of those who dwell there. To that end, he has turned a sizable portion of his tribe into illicit resources upon which he might enforce his will upon a nation at odds with itself. He has taken over critical aspects of organized crime, commerce, and communications and has employed it in a massive coordinated effort to build favors and goodwill with common citizens and wealthy elites alike.

Vestekhen is short for a Caleshan, standing a full six inches under the national average of men his age. He is wiry, cutting a much more gaunt figure than the typical Caleshan as well, and he keeps himself well-groomed at all times in the most professional and fashionable of styles. While this would normally cause others to dismiss him as a dandy, the cultured and diminutive appearance belies a calculated violence and viciousness that borders on that shown by the most storied of serial killers. For those who are his friends, he is gracious and understanding. His enemies often do not realize they are his enemies until the knife has severed their spinal cord from their brain.

He is an avid reader, of news and of research, and often studies scientific journals from other nations in order to ascertain potential lines of inquiry for his own scientific advancements and to determine potential weaknesses among those he would soon victimize. He is second only to the Wavecrashers in the number of languages in which he is fluent, and he is sufficiently skilled with those languages that he can convincingly mimic accents from any number of specific locations. He enjoys parties, and often hosts social occasions of his own volition. When 'conducting business' he is immensely focused and calculating, though when he is in a fight he becomes a veritable dervish of death. He has an odd quirk when he engages in combat: he laughs constantly, uproariously, yet somehow completely devoid of mirth. If it is possible to anger-laugh, that is what he does. His preferred weapon is a kukri, but he takes time to familiarize himself with any commonly available firearms in order to ensure that his options remain open. He is often of the philosophy that the best weapon is the loved ones of his enemy, and prefers to engage in manipulation rather than outright hostility, though it should be noted that he is not afraid to engage in the occasional bloodbath.

Godulan Puppet #2, RPing as technologically advanced tribal society founded by mongols and vikings (and later with multiple other Asian and Native American cultures) motivated by an intrinsic devotion to the spirit of competition. They'll walk softly, talk softly, and make soothing noises as they stab you in the back and take your stuff... unless you're another Caleshan, whereupon they'll only stab you in the back figuratively!

Used NS stats: Population. That’s it. Anything else not stated in the factbooks is not used.

Intro RP: Gravity Ships and Garden Snips (involved tribes: Plainsrider, Hawkeye, Wavecrasher)
Current RP: A Rock Out of Place (involved tribes: Night Wolf, Deep Kraken, Starwalker)

Biography:
Armand Holloway was an immigrant to the United Republic from the Drakonian Imperium, establishing himself through his passion as a carpenter in a local town near the Sea of Independence, just north of the border with the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav. There he met his future wife, Deana Holloway, a pure-blooded Native Anagonian who was busy chasing her dream of owning her own logistics business. The two would mutually cooperate as business partners, forming the first inklings of the Anagonian Transportation Group. After a time they would settle down, have a son, and work towards his brighter future. It was here that Forest Holloway was born, in the town of Fostov within the Province of Saratoga, United Republic of Anagonia, on 1958 AY (1898 AD). Early on, Forest knew his destiny was into the military, and his early years was in pursuit of that goal. With the expert guidance and focus of his parents, Forest was quick to excel at his studies and would eventually graduate early from High School in 1973 AY (1913 AD) at the age of 15 as a Freshman, entering College that same year. He would later gain a degree in military sciences, using it to gain a fast track in the United Republic Armed Forces at the age of 18 as a Cadet in the United Republic Navy.

Service History:
Forest Holloway was quickly promoted to Lieutenant on 1978 AY (1918 AD), just within two years of his service. A year later following his harrowing rescue of a drowning diver and two rescue swimmers that had faultered, he would be awarded the Golden Cross of the Republic. This would follow swiftly with a promotion to Lieutenant Commander. In 1980 AY (1920 AD), Lieutenant Commander Forest Holloway would be hand-picked by Captain Justin Onaru to serve as his Executive Officer on board the Destroyer USS Pennington. Following a skirmish involving the USS Pennington in a war abroad, Forest would display his heroism in the line of duty again as he would save trapped sailors in a compartment adjacent to the engine room on the Pennington. Following a mine strike, the compartment had been so damaged that it basically prevented all access from that point to the rear on the engine deck. Lieutenant Commander Holloway used trap-line explosives to blow open the bulkhead, at great risk to his life, and managed to save 15 sailors who would have otherwise have drowned. He would sustain injuries involving metal shards and bolts embedded in his body from the incident, but continue to serve. Following his award of another Golden Cross of the Republic with various other citations, Forest would be promoted to Captain and assigned his own command.

On 1981 AY (1921 AD), Captain Forest Holloway, now aged 26, would be assigned as the youngest Commanding Officer to a United Republic Battleship, the USS Dreadnought. His ship and crew would go on to routinely patrol trade routes with a fleet around Gothic Waters, occasionally being assigned to hotspots around the globe. In 1984 AY (1924 AD), the United Republic formally entered a war against a Fascist Alliance, which became one of many triggers that set off a Greater World War. Displaying a talent for fleet dynamics and strategy, Forest was promoted to the rank of Commodore that same year. He would later make the rank of Rear Admiral following his assault on a Fascist naval port. The War, however, would not go well for the United Republic. Following a series of strategic blunders, fleets and ground forces from the unified fascist alliances and their allies would bombard and overcome Anagonian defenses forcing a surrender from the war. Forest Holloway watched as his beloved Republic descended into anarchy and civil war, leading to the collapse of the United Republic in 1986 AY (1926 AD).

For the forces that stayed loyal to his naval command, Rear Admiral Forest Holloway ordered his units to not engage or provoke elements in the civil war. Eventually supplies began to dwindle and they sought port in the northern tip of Anagonia, where Forest would meet a Colonel of the United Republic turned Warlord, Tiberius Samsus. An agreement would be made between the two and with the help of Admiral Holloway and his naval units under his command, Tiberius would steamroll across Anagonia in a War of Unification and later unite the country within the same year. Following the formation of the Confederate States in 0 AUR and for his service during the Unification Wars, Tiberius appointed Forest as the first Chief Admiral of the Confederate Navy. Forest would serve the position dutifully for eight years as well as serve as head of the Department of the Interior for four years. On 8 AUR (1934 AD) at age 39 Chief Admiral Forest Holloway would retire from Military Service and enter the realm of politics to serve his hometown and their interests dutifully within the Grand Congress of the Confederacy. In 12 AUR, Forest would be elected as Chief Senator in the Grand Senate of the Confederacy by his peers, serving the role for four years, thereafter returning to his role as Grand Senator for another twenty years.

On 40 AUR (1966 AD) at the age of 71 after a strong campaign for the Presidency, Grand Senator Forest Holloway would be elected and sworn in as the 7th President of the Confederate States.

Biography:
Oswald Smitz Sholokhov was born to Drahos and Rodzislawa Sholokhov in the City of Duncaster within the Grand Republic of Orgath on February 5th, 1949 AY (1889 AD). Drahos worked at a reasonably active steel mill on the outskirts of Duncaster and Rodzislawa worked as Doctor in the Duncaster Regional Medical Center, both parents and their jobs providing ample income to provide a reasonable childhood for the young Oswald. Living the Anagonian Dream as defined by United Republic standards, the Sholokhov's were quite active in vacation travel as well as granting their only son the room and resources he needed to find his way in the world. At age 8 the Sholokhov's admitted young Oswald into the Duncaster Academy, a privately owned school with a national curriculum and credentials. It was here that Oswald would begin to find inspiration for his future endeavors in the military. In 1965 AY (1905 AD), at the age of 16, Oswald's parents formally retired from the work force. Having had Oswald at a later stage in their marriage and life, Drahos and Rodzislawa had retired at ages 72 and 68 respectively, providing the family more time together to share vacations and travel when Oswald was provided time away from the Academy. This would mark the stepping stone for Oswald as he began to plan for his future, having both the encouragement and support of his parents behind him and the necessary funds and tuition to pursue his dreams. One year after his parents retirement, Oswald would enroll in more military-oriented classes that would support his credentials for future enlistment.

On March 12th, 1967 AY (1907 AD), Oswald would graduate from the Duncaster Academy with high honors at the age of 18. Having already an existing agreement with the United Republic Air Force in effect he would use it to enlist into the United Republic Officers Academy as a fast-track candidate. Four years later on April 18th, 1971 AY (1911 AD), Oswald would graduate from the United Republic Officers Academy at the age of 22 with high honors as a First Lieutenant into the United Republic Air Force. Both of Oswalds parents would attend this ceremony. On April 22nd, Drahos and Rodzislawa were involved in a car accident on the way to a vacation home. Following their admittance to the hospital. Oswald was granted a special permission by the Air Force to visit his parents and check on their well being. During his visit, his parents would pass away, succumbing to their various internal injuries from the crash.

Service History:

Oswald would spend four years in the United Republic Air Force after handling the aftermath of his parents death, which would also mark a change in Oswalds outlook on life. He would be promoted to Major during those years in 1973 AY (1913 AD) following his actions in the line of duty in an international skirmish, his marks of heroism very close to being accused of almost suicidal bravery. On August 6th, 1975 AY (1915 AD), Oswald would submit a request for Branch Transfer to the United Republic Army that would be approved a month later. For the next eight years, Oswald Sholokhov would fight overseas in various wars and conflicts, reaching the rank of Brigadier General on the 7th of July in 1982 AY (1922 AD), where he would assume command of an International Peacekeeping Force. Three years later, on March 5th, 1985 (1925 AD), at the age of 36, Oswald Smitz Sholokhov would be promoted to Lieutenant General and assigned command of the United Republic Defense Force and Homeland Defense. There he would serve during the Greatest World War, eventually planning the defense of Anagonia during the final days of its involvement in the World War and participating in Guerilla Actions in areas conquered by foreign elements before the formal surrender of the United Republic Government on the 5th of October in 1985 AY (1925 AD).

The collapse of Government and Society soon followed a few months into the year 1986 AY (1926 AD). Most of Oswalds unit would remain loyal to him, providing him a status as a Warlord in the eventual anarchy that followed. Oswald would eventually return to his home state of Orgath and help reestablish law and order, before being forced in battle to surrender to Colonel Tiberius Samsus in his efforts to reunite Anagonia. Not one to hold grudges, especially against Patriots, Tiberius would grant Oswald the full ranks and privilege's he had during the United Republic in the new government of the Confederate States. For for the first four years after the founding of the Confederacy in 0 AUR (1926 AD), Lieutenant General Oswald Smitz Sholokhov would serve in the Department of Defense as an advisor in the recovery process of law and order. His own advice and methodology would form the Confederate States Military Police in the early days following the founding of the Confederacy, and his subsequent advisory in the Department of Defense would solidify that experience into the CSMP. However, all was not well with the Lieutenant General. Disillusionment had begun to set in at the realization of what was transpiring around him. Society was changing and the Anagonian Dream he had lived with under the United Republic had changed with it. Forever a Patriot to the United Republic, Oswald began to enlist other veterans of the United Republic Military into a new cause to reestablish the old government back into place. On 3 AUR (1929 AD), Oswald would found the Sons of the United Republic in secret.

By 5 AUR (1931 AD) at the age of 42 the disillusionment had reached a breaking point. By this time Colonel Tiberius Samsus, now President and Commander and Chief, had begun to initiate programs to further solidify and justify the Confederate government across Anagonia. The conclusion of negotiations following the border crisis with Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia in 4 AUR (1930 AD) had bolstered the position of the Confederate government in the eyes of the populace. To Oswald, however, and his supporters in the Sons of the United Republic, these achievements were nothing more than outright treason. Unable to tolerate what he views as treason against the rightful government of the United Republic any further, Oswald defects to the cause of the Sons of the United Republic as he takes over 3,000 soldiers with dozens of tanks and vehicles with him further into the Wildlands. There he gains further supporters, equally disillusioned by the Confederate government, and they begin planning their next moves.

On February 2nd, 6 AUR (1932 AD), the Sons of the United Republic make their move. In an act of open rebellion, Lieutenant General Oswald Smitz Sholokhov leads his force of one thousand soldiers supported by various tanks and armored vehicles to attempt a capture of the President of the Confederate States, Tiberius Samsus, as his motorcade travels along Interstate 25 in the Republic of Arkansis. The casualties on both sides are high as Oswald manages to personally secure Tiberius following a hand-to-hand encounter. His remaining forces clear what they can from the scene before retreating back to the Wildlands. The Sons of the United Republic are quickly implicated in the incident following the suicide of General Ronald Hithforth, a friend and collaborator with Oswald, as his suicide note reveals the motives behind the capture. With little time remaining following the Presidents capture and their original plan thwarted, Oswald escalates to outright torture as he attempts to force recognition of the claims made by the Sons of the United Republic by the Confederate government, all attempts of which are denied by the stalwart Tiberius. Eventually days later, following a daring rescue of their President by the Confederate States Military Police, Oswald and a band of his forces manage to escape capture further into the Wildlands.

In 45 AUR (1971 AD) at the age of 82, Oswald resides in a fortress deep within the mountains of the Wildlands. Ever since his defeat by the hands of Military Police, he has plotted and weaved his conspiracies deeper and deeper into the Confederate Government. The time approaches for what could be his final move against what he views as a treasonous entity.

Castillia, 1971
An overview of information pertinent to this roleplay

The Castillian nation has existed in the form of a monarchy for three-hundred and twenty-seven years. Only within the last eighty years has it grown to the extent of the empire it is in 1971. After the assimilation of the Grand Duchy of Valois-Touraine in 1968 through military force, the reign of the Emperor Charles-Chalmont de Sèvres, or Charles IV, has become unpopular with the remaining duchies and petty kingdoms outside the Empire on the Viridian continent. With that, Charles IV has become one of the most unpopular emperors in the modern era due to a crippling economic downturn that has put millions out of work. With his flamboyant and extravagant lifestyle heavily publicized while the majority of his subjects starve, many within even Charles IV's inner circle secretly convey their discontent. Charles IV however unknown to all is ailing from severe untreated syphilis, causing his actions to become ever more erratic, and it is clear to many that he is increasingly becoming detached from reality. The emperor, once hellbent on occupying all of the Viridian continent in Greater Dienstad, has set his sights on the distant lands of Gholgoth, having been charmed by the dark demeanor of the Gothic Lords, wanting to institute a similar cult of personality around himself.

The BdC, or Connaissance-bureau, is the main intelligence agency of the Castillian Empire, now with a new task. Recent events and the political volatility in the Confederate States of Anagonia, Charles IV aims to sink his teeth into Gothic affairs by supporting the Federalist Party, which is the most moderate political faction in Anagonia. By ensuring the Federalists maintain significant influence and stabilize the political realms of the country, Anagonia can be a stepping stone for Castillian affairs in Gholgoth. While many critics of the Emperor from the small hamlet of Sèvres would argue that his popularity would be better served by working on stabilizing his own realm rather than dabble in Gothic affairs, Charles IV will be obviously undeterred from doing so because of his medical condition.

The character I have developed as the agent from the BdC is Claude Goulard, a veteran agent who has been an asset into political operations for ten years. Recruited during the War of the Chalmonts from the Imperialearmée special forces operating in the Chaleur mountains on the Charantes Front, he has since been a major factor in becoming a mole within political institutions as a precursor to Castillian forces invading the duchies left on the Viridian continent. Goulard as useful as he is to the Emperor is not a die-hard loyalist, he is pragmatic and sensible. The idea of Castillia as a unified nation on the Viridian isle is much more preferable to Goulard than the pipedreams of a clearly detached megalomaniac, and those sentiments will become vital in Goulard's work with the Federalists, which is more moderate than the aggressive Castillian foreign policy of 1971.

Characters Established So Far

  • Emperor Charles-Chalmont de Sèvres, or Charles IV, the emperor of the Castillian Empire. Suffers from severe untreated syphilis. Has in recent months taken an almost obsessive liking to the style and demeanor of the Gothic Lords and their realms, and is intent on styling Castillia and his reign as such.
  • Claude Goulard, an intelligence agent with the Connaissance-bureau (BdC). Reliable enough of an agent to be trusted with direct orders from the Emperor, however harbors a dislike against him. Discontent with his new assignment in Anagonia but willing to make it succeed to ensure democracy and stability, something he wishes to see in Castillia as well.

Confederate Government Buildings and Layouts

The Confederate Seat of Power, Confederate National House. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate National House existed originally as a library before the end of the civil war. During the conflict, much of the existing infrastructure had been damaged by intense fighting and bombardment in the City of Liberty. The lone Liberty Central Library sitting at the corner of Joshua Street and Hampton Boulevard emerged relatively unscathed and the area surrounding the library survived much of the war. It was here that the fourteen original signatories for the Constitution of the Confederate States met and, eventually, signed into law the new constitution to govern their lands. Since that moment all governance for the Confederate States has taken place from this location. Following the formal election of Tiberius Samsus as the first President of the Confederate States in 1 AUR (1926 AD) he would go on to formally declared the library as the seat of power for the land.

Overhaul and Renovations

Being a library wasn't enough for when the first President of the Confederacy was elected. President Samsus set about a massive reconstruction effort trying to restore most of the original outside construction while completely redoing the interior to save initial costs. Originally the library had two floors that were open for viewing so people could see the books on the second floor. This was renovated to establish a whole floor across the second story of the building. After this a third private floor was added at the top where the attic originally had been, putting private offices and rooms for high level governing officials.

Furthering the overhaul President Samsus dictated that there should be several "offices and rooms for running the Confederacy", as one historical quote puts it directly. Continuing the renovation, the Presidents Stateroom and a few others rooms were added to the third floor. These rooms included the Office of the Department of National Defense, Office of the Vice President, Vice Presidents Stateroom, Office of National Intelligence, Office of the Department of the Confederate States, Office of the Department of the Interior(Council of the States), Office of the Confederate States Joint Department of Progress and the Office of the Council of Confederate Commerce. Further offices were added to bolster the support of the additions, including a Presidential Briefing Room and a room dedicated to the Joint Heads of Confederate Departments.

During the overhaul fully functioning bathrooms were included in the Vice President and Presidents Staterooms, since they would make the Confederate National House their permanent residency for their term. Additionally, a fully functioning kitchen was included with a lavish dining room for both internal use and diplomatic visits. Considering the space provided by the Library, much of the renovation was done to compliment the marginal space for the interior of the building, granting the Heads of State a residency that would appear not as lavish as existing in other global powers.

Before the construction of the Confederate Congressional Building, the Confederate National House acted as the meeting place for representatives. This period lasted for six months until President Samsus famously threatened to bulldoze the building if "someone didn't find a proper meeting place for these damn hooligans", as he was quoted as saying.

The Confederate Congressional Building. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate Congressional Building had to be constructed from scratch rather than the usual refurbishing of old buildings. It took six months and two days for the Congressional Building to finish construction, another two months to finish interior design while it was being used. It is one of a few government buildings that actually was constructed rather than refurbished and renovated.

Use

The Confederate Congressional Building was constructed to house the Grand Congress of the Confederacy, with ample room to accommodate both the Grand Senate and Grand House of Confederate Representatives. Other areas that were included were the Office of the Council of States Agriculture, Office of the Chief of the Confederate Congress and the Office of Confederate States Department of Colonial Affairs. There are several rooms from which senators and government employees may bunk the night, a common practice that continues up to modern day. Two dining halls are provided with a fully stocked and staffed kitchen. Many other additions were added, including several secret rooms, for the convenience and safety of those provided the information. One notable addition is the Confederate Memorial Room, showing where the Confederacy Formed and the full history up to present day.

Layout

The Confederate Congressional Building was constructed with a center main building with three annexes connected to it. The center structure houses the greeting area and security checkpoint as well as general offices for staffs and clerks. It is three stories tall, with the center of each floor cut out in a circular rotunda fashion that provides easy viewing to the foyer down below. This part of the building additionally houses spaces for guards and Military Policemen, up to and including berthing bunks in the event of necessary usage.

The annex connected to the rear is structured in three stories. The first story houses a fully stocked and staffed cafeteria as well as a study hall and several office buildings for clerks and staff. The second story houses the fully furnished yet spartan sleeping quarters for each individual Grand Representative, which include a small kitchenette and bathroom. The second story also bolsters the small offices for each Grand Representative which includes spaces for their clerks and staff. The third floor houses the fully furnished and rather luxurious Grand Senator sleeping and personal office quarter combination, which includes a furnished kitchen and bathroom. The most luxurious of these combined quarters is the one for the Chief Senator of the Confederate Congress. Adjacent to every individual Grand Senator quarters is their main office for conducting business, with the main office for the Chief Senator being slightly more larger and luxurious.

The annex connected to the left of the main structure houses the assembly for the Grand Senate of the Confederacy. The main assembly and debate hall dominates the first floor of this structure, with the main floor structured in a half-circular fashion to provide each Grand Senator seat a directional viewpoint of the central dias where the Vice President and Chief Senator of the Confederate Congress may sit as well as staff. Each seat for the Grand Senate is provided up to date and modern voting mechanisms, as well as earpieces for ease of use and translation purposes. On the wall above the main dias is a display that is updated up to the second with currently at-vote resolutions or issues. The second floor is constructed in a half-circular fashion, opening to provide viewing to the main debate floor for observers. The third floor, accessible by elevator or multiple stairways, houses offices and and other areas for staff.

The annex connected to the right of the main structure houses the assembly for the Grand House of Confederate Representatives and is constructed entirely similar to that of the structure for the Grand Senate. The only difference is the amount of seats provided, which are greater than those of the Grand Senate.

Supreme Court of the Confederacy, Supreme Courthouse. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty.

History

It is long believed that the Supreme Courthouse used to be a customs house for visiting diplomats back during the era of the United Republic. Proof of this was found two years after the building was chosen for its purpose, wherein a renovation crew stumbled upon age-old documents from the past United Republic era. Within it were several instances of nations being chosen for diplomatic meetings and embassies within the land. After finding more documents, which were quickly sent to the Grand Library of the Confederacy for storage and restoration, the renovation team continued to update the building to current standards and repair any damage caused by the civil war.

Use

The Supreme Courthouse houses the Constitutional Office of Justice where the seven Justices reside, one from each state. The courtroom is modest and houses up to two hundred people at one time. The bench is able to hold twelve justices, but lacks more due to the fact that the Confederacy only has Seven States. There are living quarters and a kitchen on the top floor with several offices. The living quarters, built in a corner at the top floor in a quiet location, is for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Confederacy. All other Justices are not allowed to live on premises but are permitted to bunk overnight if workload dictates. This building is smaller and more quaint than the rest of the government buildings utilized by the Confederacy.
