This is Occentian Navy Warship Cassin Young. We are operating a peacekeeping mission in support of your government. We intent to land in rebel-contested areas, and are more than willing to provide any support required for the mission. Embarked on our task force are 2,200 Marines and associated support, along with sizeable humanitarian aid.
OOC: The Marines are going to fight on the ground, and Cassin Young's task force is there to support. However, on the high seas, my combatant (not amphibious) fleet is hunting Countesia's fleet.
You're hunting the fleet of a fellow LITA member?Carmouth
Hathehamia
Philuan Overseas Territory
The Countesian fleet, now moored a kilometre from the coastline of Carmouth, began to deploy helicopters from the flight deck of the CNS Ariadne and from its escorting vessels. Soon, a swarm of aircraft began to make their way towards the embattled settlement, carrying large boxes of humanitarian aid such as dehydrated meals of chicken and rice and cartons of fresh water for the population. As they began to clear the buildings the helicopter crews waited for suitable clearings to start pushing the boxes out the side doors, sending them barrelling towards the ground for a few seconds before parachutes deployed to give the containers a soft landing. Machine gunners scoured the horizon for any sign of hostile retaliation
Back at sea, the Countesian fleet had positioned itself in a defensive stance. The outer layers consisted of frigates and patrol boats protected the larger destroyers, which in turn protected the strategically CNS Ariadne and the troop transports. Passive sonar buoys had been deployed along the perimeter of the fleet in the event of a submarine attack, The troop transports were fully stocked, loaded and prepared to deploy their complement of landing crafts. they now just waited on the orders of the general.
Meanwhile, the Langenians have taken note of the Countesiam fleet, and notice how it seems to be positioned in a way to defend pro-independence rebels. Langenian warships begin to frequently pass by. Also, armed Langenian warplanes on strike missions against pro-democracy and pro-independence rebels are directed by the HQ of Langenian forces in Philu in the capital of Java to buzz the Countesian fleet. Meanwhile, in other actions the Langenians have begun conducting ground combat operations against Philuan rebels, of both the pro-democracy and pro-independence factions, supported by Philuan government troops and nationalist guerillas. The rebel formation surrounding government troops in one part of the country has been encircled and the Langenians have fortified themselves, waiting to gun them down if they try to charge at their positions. Also, Langenian fighters on combat air patrol have been ordered to start intercepting ZN aircraft headed to bomb government forces. They are warned to leave and not interfere with Langenian military anti-terrorist operations. Yes, terrorists. That is what the Langenians have begun to call the rebels.
