The Invitation was sent out to dignitaries of all kinds, ranging from the domestic - The Barons of the Houses, various NDRA officers, along with several prominent members of the press to cover the event - to those far afield - Foreign heads of state, ambassadors, anyone of significance. After the relatively slow but recent series of discoveries across the Chasm, first contact was established by the many interstellar nations that had populated the Chasm, and none were as excited about such peaceful talks as the Hercynians of the New Doctrine. Already the thirst to know more had driven both the Sparri and the Egregorians to construct a massive complex, devoted entirely to acting as an embassy as well as a hall where cultural exchange might happen. Large theaters for alien performances, lecture halls where ambassadors could tell the storied history of their own unique civilizations.
The people of Pactum were particularly delighted. Their city, hosting the great and good from all around the Chasm? It was sure to be quite an event. Dozens of local craftsmen were commissioned to work on decorations. Soon, elaborate bone and rock carvings, depicting various folktales from Sparri myth, adorned the ceilings and walls of the Dining hall.
Even before construction began, the Council received many requests from artists of all kinds, hoping to show off their skill, represent their nation, and entertain the dignitaries, but to save time and keep the event as friendly and light as possible, the Council would instead choose Kastius Gallus, who would lead his Orchestra as they performed the New Doctrine's National Anthem, as well as some of the New Doctrine's most skilled dancers to perform traditional Sparri dances. Meanwhile the New Doctrine's most widely acclaimed chefs prepared a veritable feast, taking into account the many different biological restrictions of the many guests that had accepted the invitation, even filling some requests for foods from foreign nations so the guests could have a taste of home as well. The military would even join in on the show, with the Reach Fleet being bolstered by the Second and Third Endeavor Fleets helping to make the system secure enough to host foreign dignitaries. Vigile and Marinus officers, immaculate in their dress uniforms, stood at attention in corners, beside doorways. Never intrusive, but still there, observing the proceedings. After all, with this manyt Dignitaries invited, a security incident would be absolutely unacceptable.
With the preparations made, the city held it's breath as the day came. The Pactum branch of the New Doctrine Vigiles Urbani cordoned off the streets leading to the Hall, whilst citizens of the city pressed in against the barriers, eager to catch a glimpse of these foreign dignitaries, who they had only heard of in news reports. One of the terminals of the Heredia Starport was set aside for incoming VIPs, and a fleet of shuttle craft was assembled, waiting to ferry the dignitaries down to the city of Pactum proper.
The Festivities are ready to begin.
