Axuva Today Network [ATN] Today we announce that the Axuvian Government now recognizes The Russian Language as an Official Language, Korean and English were spoken in the beginning, but there were Russians too, russians were forgotten and their language were not recognized due to the things they did in the past, but now their language is a official language of Axuva, and there will now be 3 official languages instead of two.

The deadline for entries into WV88 has now passed, which means that...
YOU CAN NOW POST YOUR JURY VOTES IN THE IC THREAD!
(if your entries are complete, of course)

Please stay tuned for when the televoting form's live and the link to it posted here, too - as I stated earlier, I'm going with soft deadlines, so I plan to conclude the voting period with a post in this OOC thread around 02:00 GMT next Tuesday - anyway, start voting now!

Voting Announcement

Hello everyone!

First of all:
Taiwanese SWA is NOT an official entry as it was not signed up and thus cannot receive votes.

And, of course:
The televoting form is live!

Also, you can only give a maximum of 5 points to yourself in the jury vote, and only a maximum score of 6 in the televote, and together with your main nation you can only give a maximum of 14 points to another nation.

Happy voting!

The time for nations to send in their jury votes is up! FYI, I plan to do a complete televoting reveal and announce the WV88 winner in the IC thread before 23:59 GMT on Friday, so stay tuned!

Great, ideally the televote reveal would be posted in the coming day! Usually it is done on Tuesday (GMT) and most people are expecting it to be announced then

I think the latest that the new OOC for WV89 will be posted is Wednesday CST, so if you are going to be doing the reveal after that, do keep in mind that we will very likely be opening signups then!

Is there any way the WVC can help you have things posted up sooner?

Britonisea's Scoreboard Breakdown!

Postby Britonisea » Tue Mar 02, 2021 8:07 am

Congratulations to the winner! Thank you all for 2nd place - we love to see it! Below is the scoreboard breakdown!

How are they calculated? Nations are ranked based on three different categories (this edition) - two of which are based on RP and the other one based on tune. The 3 categories are RPly each Britonish Juror and are calculated using the exponential weight difference model (so this is done exactly how Eurovision does it) to create an overall ranking which is used to make the Estogian and Britonish Jury scores. Due to, in the past, scores being out of different marks (for example Lyrics is out of 20, RP quality is out of 10) raw points (which used to be used in the past to decide the ABEN points) will be ranked differently. Using the exponential weight difference model means all categories are worth the same whereas in the past, they weren't.

These were the results of the Britonish Jury.

As there are three categories, for a nation who placed first, they would receive 1 point. If you placed second, you receive 0.9 and it goes down exponentially! If you're curious how many points you would've scored if you say got...13th, check the spoiler below this one.
1 2.16 Oqmet

Thank you Rhim for hosting such a great edition! I was feeling a bit rusty for my WorldVision comeback and wasn't really expecting much, but it turned out I really enjoyed testing the waters once again and to even hang on to the left side of the scoreboard was a success for me.

And of course congratulations to Izmedu! A great song and great RP, I was rooting for either you or Scot to win to be honest.

I'll be back with Adab next edition, so you can consider that the real start of my comeback. Faraby will be back too as Adab's puppet; I've got too many song ideas right now. Thank you everyone for an enjoyable contest, and I hope to see you again at WorldVision 89!

Returning to my 4th win... it's an absolute honor, and right at the cusp of this being 50 editions since my first too haha.

Okay, first of all, I would like to say thank you all so much. As I've said on discord, it is an absolute honor to return to not just a podium, but to a win. I was asleep while the televotes were being revealed so I couldn't share in the suspense, but I have caught up with the result and if there's anything better than finding out a win... It's that fact being one of the very first things I saw in the morning. I wish I could put into more words how much of an honor this is, but know that this absolutely means a lot. To everyone who supported my entry, thank you so much. You helped make this possible and it was in your hands that we have this result; you're the reason why I can claim this victory.

Congratulations to everyone, truly. I really loved reading everybody's entries here, and it's an absolute joy to return to the process of discovering new music through y'all and just being enmeshed in the performances and RP you've all worked hard to create and write. It was a real treat just being with you all tbh. To the newer nations just beginning to debut or are becoming new regulars, I really hope y'all stick around for the long haul. I'm seeing some really promising work here.

I also wanna tip my hat off to Rhim. Thank you so much for hosting the contest! I wish I was there for the televote reveal but everything that you've done this edition has been super solid. Well done!

You never honestly know when the win or even when your next podium might come. At the tail end of my first term in the WVC (circa 83 to 85, it was... whew it was a lot), I began to wonder what my place in WV was and if what I was doing felt... right. Now, this is not to mean I didn't love what I was sending at the time, but I wasn't sure if what I was creating or sending then really tugged at like my primal sense of enjoyment for the contest. And of course, grad school got super busy too, and I was feeling kinda lost during that period of my life. WV and WHF got into my head a bit more than I thought was healthy, and I needed to let go for a bit to focus on RL. In the lead up to my deciding to eventually return, I'd ping ponged through multiple tunes before I signed up for WV88.

I never expected a song like Emmylou to even touch the podium, no less score a win this resounding. However, I picked the song because it one of the few songs at a time that felt it hit the very core of what I wanted to express. It felt like... me, even if it's something I normally wouldn't send to a song contest. And it felt like me in a way that I wasn't getting from the other tunes I was contemplating. Now, I know that First Aid Kit do have a considerable cache, but I was afraid the song may have been too old to resonate in the way it has. Past a certain point, to fret over the what could've beens and what might happen was hampering my writing process. Something took over me when I began to latch onto the story I wanted to tell with the song, and thus, that led to the entry you see now. I didn't know what it would lead to, but what mattered was that it led to an entry that was complete and told something I've been wanting to tell, and that it was with a tune that I've been obsessed with for quite some time haha.

In short, you never know, and that's what makes this contest so exciting.

I'll post the winners' reprise as soon as I can.

But once again, thank you all so much.

And see you in WV89!
