How can I recreate my government after abolishing it?

Postby Awesome Dudes and Dudettes » Thu Jan 14, 2021 3:55 pm

The other day, I was presented with Issue #110, which allowed me to abolish my government. I did, and I'm wondering if there is a counter issue, or anyone way to build a government back.

Yeah, basically Comfed is right. If you pick any option that involves funding stuff, you’re going to reinstate the government.

How did you managed to abolish it in the first place?

There are some issues that allow you to abolish your government (outside of naturally cutting away chunks of it until it no longer exists)

There isn't a counter issue, it's assumed that the government is reformed since no government would mean no more issues. I think Max Barry mentioned this in the FAQ

#192, Option 1

I think there's one other that I don't remember. You can also just slowly reduce spending to a point where you abolish it altogether. You can tell the nations that do that because their government spending page still has priorities instead of "complete abolition of government - 100%"

If you're careful you can go on answering issues with 'complete abolition of government' indefinitely, but many issues (presumably those that imply the existence of a gov't) will cause it to go back to normal. Or if you don't answer issues you can of course keep an abolished government forever of course. It's sort of a weird state to be in because the whole premise of the game is that you're running a government, so it seems the game more or less treats it is a transitional phase that your nation is supposed to eventually come out of.

The government abolition thing is overall kind of a weird feature. It's possible to have an abolished government and a tax regime concurrently.

Everyone is just really selfless or pays their taxes out of peer pressure ;)
