What is something you want to know more about my nation?

Postby Super Cool Florida » Fri Jan 08, 2021 7:39 am

Currently I am building the story for how Super Cool Florida came to be..but I can't decide between either the u.s going into complete chaos and laying off florida who the unites with mexico, or the other possible history which could be Florida already united with Mexico ever since the Spanish Empire collapsed. Or they unite again after discussions. Idk yet. I need help with my history..just about everything.
In the meantime what could be more talked about in the factbooks?
Florida, but it united with Mexico and got independence.

Or an alternative option. Florida was not sold by Spain to the USA as Floridan patriots controlled it. So it was independent before.

Is Menorcan Catalan still spoken today in Florida? As it historically was in Saint Augustine until early XXth century?

1. There are 2 leaders: David Francis McGrath and Edmundo Liciá Alcocer. The reason for 2 leaders roots in the leader of the Applachee tribe visiting the Mexican leader of the Maya tribe to talk about the problems that the tribes had with each other. Eventually, after great bonding between the 2 leaders (Algonquin Santana, leader of the Applachee tribe and Potawatom Kowa, leader of the Maya tribe)and also through artistic sketches on sand and dirt, formed a unified nation, translated to English,”Florida-Mexico Union”. This was the start of Super Cool Florida.
Super Cool Florida is called Super Cool Florida as a fun nickname, but shouldn’t be taken as the actual name of the nation.
2.The economy is led by tourism, with significant contributions from the beef and cheese industry, although cheese production has slowly been stagnating over the years. Our major exports are meats, mostly chicken and beef, but we also export other foods like cheese and milk, but this has been denying. Minor exports are chocolate and beans, along with corn. Our economy is not that diversified, as it’s mostly just food, but we’re working on it.
3. OOC: Uhhhhhhhh...I’m still working on this, but I’ll try with what I have so far. Sorry if it’s bad.
IC: In the age of colonising and conquering, when native tribes were made into citizens of empires, there was a tribe called Applachee. This tribe was quite powerful in the land they resided in, which was Northwestern Florida. They had about 50,000 natives, and were respected in the region they resided in by other native tribes. At the time, the nation of Florida-Mexico Union didn’t exist, but Florida was land regardless, albeit unnamed land. Now, things were learned through words and sentences, not with the newspapers and internet we have now. Meaning whenever a native saw something happen they’d tell the other native nearby who would tell their friends, who told their friends, and so on.
Countries or empires as of the time, had been conquering and claiming land that belonged to native tribes. Newly formed colonies quickly gained influence by breaking promises they formed with peaceful tribes. Natives talked about this with their natives, who told it to other natives, who told it to other natives and so on, until it reached the ears of a Applachee native, who told it to the leader of the Applachee tribe, Algonquin Santana.
Algonquin Santana was greatly frightened at what he had heard from the native, and rumors are he had asked if it was a joke and for the native to repeat it once more.
After the native repeated it, Algonquin Santana was even more surprised. In a attempt to make sure Applachee was not destroyed he formed the small nation of “Applachee Land.”
Applachee Land consisted of a small sized region in Northwestern Florida. It had an great environment, but its economy was non-existent. It also was very, very small compared to the ruling empires of the world.
Algonquin Santana left Applachee Land that way for a week, before hesitantly claiming more land that Applachee lived in as to not get a overpopulated region.
Over a month, Applachee land consisted of where the Applachee natives lived, as Algonquin didn’t want to start trouble.
OOC: ok that’s it. I’m checking over the history of Mexico and the Maya tribe and making sure it can fit with native Florida. I hope you enjoyed that.
4. It’s a mix of native culture, Mexican culture, and Floridian culture. Floridian culture has its own quirks, its own foods, its own traditions, but overall it’s just native culture Florida-style. It collides well with Mexican culture, which also has its own foods and traditions. Mexican culture and Floridian culture consists of some elements of native culture.
5. It’s pretty high, but still a little shoddy. It’s not utopian, but it’s not dystopian either. It could be classified as “high”. Women can vote, dress up the way they want freely, own a weapon, have her own financing and banking account, and more. She can do anything a Floridian man wants to do. However, cases of sexual assault in the workplace have been rising, and woman’s rights in the workplace are still aggressively debated over.
6. In the real world. For now..*evil cackling*
7.It’s like the real world, but think of Mexico as united with Florida on the world map. I dont know if that helps.
8.It’s a combination of both the Mexican and Floridian flag, with the Floridian seal being a representation of unity of native and Mexican culture in one.
OOC: I’m gonna change the flag soon. Do you like it so far?
Florida, but it united with Mexico and got independence.

Yes, among the rural suburban areas and small towns of Florida. It is rare to hear in cities, though. Although it is spoken, the government has not documented the language, as the census is still quite ineffective somehow.

What is the legislature like? Since it's a mix of Mexico and Florida, what are the ethnic demographics like? Plus, if there's anything you want to know about my nation, you can ask me on my forum.

There is a government legislature and a legislature for every state in Mexico and county in Florida. The power and influence of the county and state depends on how much of a good reputation they have.
The government legislature however, rules over the other legislatures, no matter what.
The government legislature has about 2 entities:
La Casa de Coolness
And
El Camarote de Coolness

La Casa is the higher house. It was created to keep the leaders in check to make sure they didn’t turn into power hungry dictators and to pass and interpret new laws. It has about 15 people. These 15 are called the Remainders.
Then There are 3 representatives of racial minorities in Florida and Mexico in La Casa that are used to bring attention to other issues the 15 may not know about fully, like diversity and feminism and all. Basically, woke points.
The way these guys pass law is that the 1 of them or maybe a group of 5 (the limit) suggests a new bill. The bill must be only about 10 pages and nothing more then 10 pages. This has led to many Remainders saying or complaining that the bills are like 2 page preschool books.
The bill will explain the new law that will be proposed. For example let’s say the new law is no bicycling on Sunday.
The person will have to read out their bill to the Remainders, and then argue why it should be accepted.
Now, if the person suggesting the bill convinces everyone that bicycling on Sunday sucks and their bill covers all the legal loopholes (No bicycling on Sunday in Mexico or Florida and it is every Sunday, so no bicycling allowed for example), the 14 will accept if they’re all convinced.
“What happens if there’s a tie?”
Well, that’s when the bill goes into limbo. If 7 remainders of La Casa said “This bill sucks. I want to bicycle on sundays.” and vote ‘no’, but the other 7 like the law, then the bill goes into a state of limbo.
That means the bill is passed over to the 3 representatives.
“What happens if the 3 can’t agree?”
Due to there only being 3, there cannot be a tie. You cannot vote neutrally in La Casa. It is either no or yes. Voting neutrally will get your vote counted as ‘no’.
You write your answer on an notecard and put it face down on your desk. Then a “watcher” (supervisor of la Casa) goes around asking you what you put. You show them the card. Then they nod and write it down.
But anyways, if 2 say no and 1 says yes, the bill is denied.
If 2 say yes and 1 says no, the bill is accepted.

If the watcher modifies someone’s answer, for example let’s say the watcher liked the law, so the watcher changed everyone’s votes to “yes”. And it is found out, the watcher is fired and arrested for 20 years. The watcher cannot get back into any federal spot, and the retired watcher will stay beyond their sentence, even after 20 years.
The votes are re counted again by one of the leaders. The bill is then either denied or accepted based on the votes then.

If the watcher retires, one of the 2 leaders of Florida will do the job instead until someone else applies.
If the watcher dies, see above. While mourning, of course.

“So....what is El Camarote for..?”
El Camarote was created to be by the people, for the people. It was created to uplift laws the people wanted to La Casa.
There are 35 ‘speakers’ in El Camarote. The speakers are people who get to suggest laws. However, these people must suggest laws based on what the majority wants, not they want. El Camarote does not have a government building, instead, it hosts meetings.
The 35 speakers will bring chairs and sit down at the center of somewhere. Then, the people who want to come come to the meeting and also bring their own chairs.
The people who come to the meetings speak directly to the speakers, talking about laws and all.

There is no fee to go to these meetings; it was made illegal to put a fee on meetings of El Camarote, because the people wanted it.

The ethnic demographics in Mexico are (spoiler not as exciting as you thought):
32% Indigenous Mexicans
41% Meztizos (Mixed Mexicans)
22% European Mexicans
5% Dark-skinned Mexicans
1% Haitians
1% Paraguayans

The ethnic demographics in Florida are:
57% Indigenous Floridians
32% Mexicans
9% Spanish People
4% Puerto Rican’s
1% Dark-skinned Floridians
Florida, but it united with Mexico and got independence.
