[Draft] Commend Llorens

Postby Indusse » Sun Nov 29, 2020 11:21 pm

Commend Llorens

The Security Council,

Noting that Llorens was the Delegate of The Leftist Assembly for a total period of 350 days, during which they served the region by designing the majority of the region's government system, also contributing to the growth of the region by introducing different remarkable legislatures. They also control the Leftist Assembly Founder Nation and oversee the region.

Recognizing the momentous contributions by Llorens to the region, including:

i. Proposing countless remarkable legislation concentrating on simplifying the Constitution and making the government system more efficient like the various bills.
ii. Organizing the first-ever Culture Competitions, a biannual event to design and vote for new regional symbols which have since become a regional tradition,
iii. Hosting the first-ever quarterly regional census to track the demographics of the region’s citizens,
iv. Establishing the highly successful ambassador program which has greatly improved the region’s foreign relations by deploying ambassadors and other officials.
v. Documenting the regional history by incorporating elements of both government and community developments,
vi. Creating the highly factual and regularly updated TLAwiki which contains regional information such as election details, legislative proposals, cultural and sporting events among others,
vii. Launching the immensely successful Revolutionary Support Exchange (RoSE) program which has increased the regional world assembly population.

Acknowledging the fact that Llorens served The Leftist Assembly as the Secretary for a regional record of four terms empowering the region, making it one of the largest leftist community in Nationstates. They had created a major portion of the legislature while they were the secretary.

Understanding that Llorens was the Chief Executive Officer of Nationstates Today, which is a widely circulated newsletter in Nationstates and has also served the writing community of Nationstates Today by being an Executive in different boards of the organisation including:
i. He was elected the Chief Executive Officer of NSToday twice.
ii. Llorens was elected to the posts of Chief Content Officer, Chief Publishing Officer, Editor, Governor and Chairperson in NSToday.
iii. Llorens has over eighty articles in the Nationstates Today Newsletter and has the record of having the most number of articles written in NST.
iv. He also writes the Shift Series in Nationstates Today which analyses the World Assembly and its growth, the series helps others with comparing statistics regarding the growth of different regions in the world assembly.

Astonished by the fact that Llorens has played a major role as the Potato General of the N-Day Faction "Alliance of Potato" and was awarded the Green Heart Award for their contribution in the event.

Amazed by the fact that Llorens hosted The International Association of Football Federation World Cup (IAFF World Cup) as an invitational inter-regional soccer championship that varied from the majestic Nationstates World Cup and empowered various regions to take part in Nationstates Sports.

Approving that Llorens has been in the NSLeft, which is the largest Leftist Organisation in Nationstates helping the organisation in its development to be one of the largest political organisations in the history.

Poor Honey, you probably should have listened to him. :P

Welcome to the Security Council—thanks for posting your draft here. Unfortunately, your draft is nowhere near ready to be presented to the Security Council.

Indusse wrote:Noting that Llorens was the Delegate of The Leftist Assembly for a total period of 350 days, during which they served the region by designing the majority of the region's government system, also contributing to the growth of the region
Length of time as Delegate is not that important compared to what they did. Elaborate more on what they designed of the government. How did they contribute to the growth of the region? Recruitment? Mentoring?

Recognizing Llorens's contribution to developing The Leftist Assembly into a large community in the Nationstates and a superpower in NSleft.
Why is this good?
Acknowleding the fact that Llorens served The Leftist Assembly as the Secretary for a regional record of four terms empowering the region and the leftist community of Nationstates.

How did they empower the region and the leftist community? Again, length of service isn't so noteworthy as compared to what they did in that position.
Understanding that Llorens is the Chief Executive Officer of Nationstates Today, which is the most famous and read newsletter in Nationstates and has also served the writing community of Nationstates Today by being an Executive in different boards of the newsletter.

I'd say more like infamous. Anyways, source required for it being the most read.

Astonished by the fact that Llorens is one of the most influential nations in Nationstates and is also ranked in the top 1% for the most pacifist, best weather, most environmental beauty in the community and various other indexes.

This should be removed as being in the top 1% is not that hard to do as long as you hang around NS for sometime and consistently answer issues.

Approving that Llorens has been invested variously important positions in the NSLeft Organisation and also had governing experience in The East Pacific.
Not sure what you mean by "invested" here. What positions in NSLeft Organization and TEP? Why is them holding those positions important?

This is just a base draft, there is much to be edited and added.

Then why did you post it here... After giving it my feedback, I really could have just waited until you added more...

I would just like to clarify that I am fine with this commendation proposal, and I can answer questions about my involvement primarily in TLA and NSToday, but I'd like to think I'm not self-serving enough to start providing ideas about how to commend myself!

Honoured all the same, though this could admittedly do with some more work. :p

I can't speak to whether they are "famous" or widely read, but Indusse might have been thinking of SCR#302, which regards NSToday as the "largest" news organization on NS. If you (referring to the author now) are going to keep this clause, you ought to reference this claim instead of the current claims, which are probably hard to prove.

Correct, I think that concerns about the phrasing were brought up in that thread but were not addressed. I agree that it would be better to source it that way if they want to keep the "largest" claim in. Obviously even if the SC supports something, that doesn't make it true tho. :P

INDUSSESTRONK.

i. "Exclaimed" should not only be bolded but probably sounds a bit out of place - "Amazed?" "Inspired?"
ii. "They also writes" definitely sounds a lot out of place.
iii. "the Magister of TEP?" Aren't there several or have I fucked up somewhere along the line?
iv. The [list=i] tag exists.

You have an extraneous space before the during. How did they contribute to the growth of the region? Was that through the design of the region's government system?
Recognizing the momentous contributions by Llorens to the region, including:

i. Proposing countless remarkable legislation concentrating on simplifying the Constitution and making the government system more efficient,

You're nowhere near the character limit. You can afford to include details on the legislation here and I think you should.
iv. Establishing the highly successful ambassador program which has greatly improved the region’s foreign relations,

What about this ambassador program made it successful? How did it improve the region's foreign relations?
Acknowledged by the fact that Llorens served The Leftist Assembly as the Secretary for a regional record of four terms empowering the region and the leftist community of Nationstates.
How did his four terms as Secretary empower the region and the leftist community?

Understanding that Llorens is the Chief Executive Officer of Nationstates Today, which is the most famous and read newsletter in Nationstates and has also served the writing community of Nationstates Today by being an Executive in different boards of the organisation including:

I doubt I'll be able to support the resolution due to NST's history of false reporting and seems to be expanding to include lying based on the repeal Commend Halo thread...
i. They were elected the Chief Executive Officer of NSToday twice and is currently holding the position.

What did they do as being elected CEO?
ii. Llorens decorated the posts of Chief Content Officer, Chief Publishing Officer,Editor,Governor and Chairperson in NSToday
Decorated? What does that mean? Also, you need spaces after the commas in some parts here.

iii. Llorens has over eighty articles in the NationstatesToday Newsletter which is regarded as the most read newsletter in (SCR#302) and has the record of having the most number of articles written in NST.

Most read is redundant here but the clarification as to how it is classified as being the most read is good. I'd suggest moving that part up and focus just on Llorens's writing.
Astonished by the fact that Llorens has been awarded the Green Heart Award of Spiritus and the prefix SPH for their momentous contribution towards The Potato Alliance in the Nuclear Apocalypse.

So Llorens should be getting an award because they already got an award?

Approving that Llorens has been in the NSLeft Organisation, helping the organisation in its development and also had governing experience in The East Pacific including being a Magister of TEP.
What governing experience in TEP? What did he do as Magister of TEP?

Overall, while the proposal is well-written, I think you are missing some key details. Lastly, taking a step back, I'm not seeing a tie of why Llorens's contributions merit interregional recognition (eg. why should we care about TLA?).

I wouldn't waste any more time on this draft. All you've done by giving us Llo's resume is prove to us that he's not commendable.

Fluff.

"Contributing to the growth of the region" doesn't mean anything (recruitment? How much recruitment?), nor does "designing the majority of the region's government system" (is that legislative? executive? What does it entail?), nor does the length in office (for all I know, he could've done nothing in those 305 days). Typically, a fluffy clause like this one demonstrates that you don't actually know what you're talking about and are just trying to bullshit your way through it.

Indusse wrote:Recognizing the momentous contributions by Llorens to the region, including:

"Momentous" is a dramatic adjective that I probably wouldn't use in a commendation. It simply doesn't fit the SC's reserved, unbiased tone to call a random cultural event "momentous".

Indusse wrote:i. Proposing countless remarkable legislation concentrating on simplifying the Constitution and making the government system more efficient,

"Remarkable" is another adjective that doesn't fit. Try "helpful" or "necessary".

By the way, I don't believe this is impressive. TLA seems to create a couple amendments every week. Most of them also aren't written by Llo, which discredits your claim that he "[designed] the majority of the region's government system". Find the amendments he did, and prove that they were particularly special. And not just special to TLA. They have to stand out in NationStates as a whole.

Indusse wrote:ii. Organizing the first-ever Culture Competitions, a biannual event to design and vote for new regional symbols which have since become a regional tradition,

This isn't special. Hundreds, if not thousands, of nations have organized and participated in region-led NationStates events for almost 20 years, many of which are much more expansive, pioneering, creative, and entertaining than a contest to design symbols. In my experience, writing / designing contests are a pedestrian "go-to" style of event. I suppose that stands out in TLA, but it doesn't stand out in NationStates.

Indusse wrote:iii. Hosting the first-ever quarterly regional census to track the demographics of the region’s citizens,

What does this census even track? What makes it helpful or special?

I found an example of the census: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/ ... 02c8_0_355

It's a bunch of questions about the people (like their age), their NS career, and some of their opinions. While that's fun, it's also relatively common and probably not commendable.
Indusse wrote:iv. Establishing the highly successful ambassador program which has greatly improved the region’s foreign relations,

Every competent region has an ambassador program, and they're literally just people who are willing to fiddle around with bbcode every one or two months. Nothing about them "[improves]... foreign relations".

Indusse wrote:v. Documenting the regional history from a neutral perspective, incorporating elements of both government and community developments,

Again, this is something that might be important to TLA, but is pretty pedestrian and standard in NationStates. Also, how is it supposed to be unbiased?

By the way, are you sure Llo did that? I did a search in dispatches and on TLA's RMB for historical dispatches, and all I found was a series by Cedoria.

Indusse wrote:vi. Creating the highly factual and regularly updated TLAwiki which contains regional information such as election details, legislative proposals, cultural and sporting events among others.

I have no qualms with this.

Indusse wrote:Acknowledged by the fact that Llorens served The Leftist Assembly as the Secretary for a regional record of four terms empowering the region and the leftist community of Nationstates.

Fluff. You already said he was delegate (secretary = delegate in TLA) for a while. It didn't mean anything then, and it doesn't mean anything now.

I'd delete this clause.

Indusse wrote:Understanding that Llorens is the Chief Executive Officer of Nationstates Today, which is the most famous and read newsletter in Nationstates and has also served the writing community of Nationstates Today by being an Executive in different boards of the organisation including:

It's very gameplay-centric of you to assume that NSToday is the most (in)famous and read newspaper (it's not a newsletter as you called it) in NS, especially when you couldn't possibly prove that. How do you even measure fame?

It's far more likely that a roleplay newspaper is the most read and most famous in all of NS. Additionally, whereas NSToday is a very new (and currently dying) newspaper, papers like TRT, SPINN, Miniluv Messanger, and PNN have actually been historically significant and are recognizable not just to people playing in 2018-2020. You could argue Miniluv, TRT, and PNN are cultural icons— a feat that NSToday will never achieve. TRT also spread out a lot farther than just gameplay (e.g. rl articles, WA, issues analysis, roleplay, etc) back in TRT 1.0. And Miniluv probably had a real consequence on gameplay. NST can't compare to them in fame.

Indusse wrote:i. They were elected the Chief Executive Officer of NSToday twice and is currently holding the position.
ii. Llorens decorated the posts of Chief Content Officer, Chief Publishing Officer,Editor,Governor and Chairperson in NSToday.

They are currently holding the position. Not "they... is". Also, Llorens is a nation, so you should be referring to Llorens as an "it" anyways.

These idiotic bureaucratic positions are probably why I stopped respecting NSToday in the first place. Governor, for example, was also a lie. They acted like the governor position existed to give the writers and readers a democratic choice over policy, but in reality the board (not elected) had a functional majority. That's just an example. If news organizations worried half as much on their articles as they do on policy, they'd actually be good.

Indusse wrote:iii. Llorens has over eighty articles in the NationstatesToday Newsletter which is regarded as the most read newsletter in (SCR#302) and has the record of having the most number of articles written in NST.

SC#302 was repealed, and it only said that NST was the largest, not most read. There's a difference.

Llorens is more of a reporter than a journalist in that he has also favored speed and quantity over quality journalism. His articles have gotten better, but most of them have been dry, superficial, and occasionally incorrect summaries of boring news events like elections. I used to pay a lot of attention to NST, but very little to Llorens, because I always saw his articles as uncontroversial fodder.

Indusse wrote:iv. They also writes the Shift Series in Nationstates Today which analyses the World Assembly and its growth.

That's not what the Shift does. It looks at WA population (i.e. the number of WA nations) in NS and in certain regions, and analyses how it changes (not how it grows).

Indusse wrote:Astonished by the fact that Llorens has been awarded the Green Heart Award of Spiritus and the prefix SPH for their momentous contribution towards The Potato Alliance in the Nuclear Apocalypse.

Didn't those guys lose? Also commending for receiving an award is ridiculous and very fluffy.

Indusse wrote:Approving that Llorens has been in the NSLeft Organisation, helping the organisation in its development and also had governing experience in The East Pacific including being a Magister of TEP.

Magister in TEP is literally just a legislator position. It means nothing.

Also you're going to need to give examples of how Llorens helped NSLeft's development. NSLeft has been around a very long time (longer than Llo) so I highly doubt Llo helped develop it. This clause just seems like fluff.

I respect the effort, but this won't pass. It would save you a lot of pain to just scrap the draft. I've scrapped quite a few, so you know I'm not telling you to do something I wouldn't do myself.

Plus a regional approval. Not a lot, but something. I mean, we do have a delegate, he's a little lazy but he will vote if we annoy him enough.

Enjoy the rejected realms, my nitpicky friend, I've heard no region wants you...hard to see why, you must be a fun guy at parties. :)

Lol you're fun. Can't take basic criticism from respected SC regulars and now you stoop to the pettiness to just do the opposite of what they say with no regard to the actual content of the post.

I'd agree though, Bormiar is probably fun at parties, you on the other hand would never get invited lol

Oh, I take that as a compliment. I'd hate to go to that party.
