Confirm Region moves

Postby The Dream of Kirby » Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:31 pm

I think it’s a little annoying if I’m looking at a region, and accidentally hit the “move nation to region” button. Then I lose all my residency, which not many people care about, but I do personally. It also takes all your regional ranks (by ranks I mean like Eco-Friendliness and such, not RO positions) until world census updates. Overall, it would just be a nice thing to have.

I agree
It’s annoying to move to a region accidentally, and it could’ve easily fixed
I’m suprised it isn’t already a feature

This has happened to me before also where I accidentally move to another region and it’s annoying. So I agree there should confirms for region moves.

Confirm Region Moves

Postby Zarbik » Wed Nov 25, 2020 3:13 pm

I could not agree more,
for players who have had long established roles within a region it would be terrible for them to lose anything
We need this in the game

I'm not really an authority on the subject, but this subject has been raised before, and this was [violet]'s response:
[violet] wrote:There are lots of requests for confirmation buttons on everything. Every single button on the site, someone wants a confirmation for it because they misclicked it. But some people don't, so then everyone agrees there should be a checkbox in Settings for whether you want confirmations or not. Settings would be eight pages long if I did this. Even when I implement the setting, like for issues, people don't always use it and so then they say it should be the default. But no. There will not be confirmations on everything.

It is a big deal to move regions, and therefore there should be a 'are you sure' thing. Personally when I moved accidentally I wasn't exactly over the moon.

I don't think it's a bad idea, but I do think it should be an option users can toggle on in their nation settings, same as confirming an issue selection. Applying that confirmation popup across the board would likely screw with the precision timing folks over in R/D gameplay need when timing their region jumps. But if it's something players can opt in to using, then everybody wins.

That seems like the most logical, not always visible, and just for those that want to keep their influence
If you want to send me any cards, best if you send it to this one, Holland DS6, I just need more bank on this account if I want to upgrade the limit, but I just keep wanting to buy cards worth more, cards I like or cards for a collection that I am working on, I already had a lot of cards in the catagory, so mind as well make it an official collection that I could possibly already complete. I try not to break the rules, so if I do it by accident, please just tell me mods, although it would have to be through the TG only for mods, like Ransium had to due to class region. I didn't really check for spellings, so it may be a little unclear, sorry. :P More in my factbook on card+gifts.
Finally getting my own card soon!

I've long thought a simple (citation needed) solution could be to make the Residency stat not immediately drop, but rather follow updates. Something similar to how the game recognizes a region's delegate.

Well, except for the players who don't read the settings page carefully enough, and then demand that it should be on by default.

Personally I think having Residency update at update, like influence and WA endorsements already do, would be the best solution for players. But of course there'll probably be a reason why it's not easy with the NS code.

Having been fat-fingered enough to accidentally end up outside my region, and forgetful enough not to remember the region secret password, I had to burn up a lot of influence to get back in. Luckily I had enough!

I'm in favour of this idea.

For preserving residency, changing residency at update sounds like the best idea, and it might be able to get rid of the weird decimals in the residency stat.

This I fully support. Let people complain it's not default, it's togglable, and R/D is unaffected by it.

I don't know if [v] still holds this view. However, I would like to take the opportunity to respond to it. I'm not sure what the other features are that are being requested to have confirmation buttons. I don't believe that it should matter whether other features are being requested, but whether there is rationale for this feature to be implemented.

I believe there are a couple of reasons this feature should be implemented:
1) The action of moving regions is permanently irreversible on your stats. The residency stat is impacted immediately by a CTEing, moving back immediately or prior to update will not save your stat. This is unlike most of the other stats. Issue based stats are both protected by an optional confirmation button and by being able to answer issues to change your stats.
2) The button to move regions is in a frequented area of the site for clicking. In near proximity to the button to relocation regions are that region's dispatches, embassies, tags, and clicking the button to add the region to your dossier. This makes it easier for unintentional clicking on the button to move regions instead of another button.

I support having a button in the settings to enable confirmation to move regions. This would address the concerns that those who have accidentally moved regions have (such as myself) and ensure that it would not negatively impact those that do R/D.

Yeh i agree fully if it affected the r and d then that would not be good but if its toggled of than that works for all
