The Godfather or The Shawshank Redemption ?

Which of these two movies do you think is better ?

Tough and I can't chose a favorite among the two. I gave both movies 10/10. They are both related to crime but are slightly different genres (mafia vs. prison escape) and both are at the top of their genres.

I think if one reads 'The Godfather' it will give more appreciation for the movie because the book is able to go deeper in the backgrounds of the characters. The director knew what to keep and what to ignore from the book to avoid making the movie last 6 hours (although I wouldn't have minded that because the book is excellent).
