[Draft] Methamphetamine Act -feel free to ask or give advice

Postby Anti-Lolitary » Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:40 pm

General Assembly of The World Assembly,

The legalization of Methamphetamine can be beneficial to our societies, for militaristic and medical purposes. While, they may be used for these purposes the individual is also responsible for knowing the possible outcomes while dealing with this drug due to the negative impacts it may have upon the individual and society.

1. Legalization of products for uses falling under the category medicinal and/or methamphetamine military uses, and must be approved by any government organization for drug usage;

1A. Proper military use is included but not limited to: stimulate a reduction of tiredness and/or a hyper-attentiveness and reactionary booster

1B. Proper medicinal use is as followed: treatment for ADHD and weight loss, boost attentiveness, and any other uses the government that a nation/territory is subjected to approves of

2. The individual has the right to know what will be ingested by their body, they also have the right to refuse whether it is for militaristic or medical usage

3. Any who is found to abuse the drug outside of approved dosages established by the governing body for any reason should be subjected to rehabilitation and any punishment the government body finds suitable after proper rehabilitation is initiated and completed or near completion

4. While this policy calls for stronger regulations it doesn't require promotion or legalization of the drug, for that is up to the governing body to decide.

Talking about rehabilitation puts me in mind of this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cLts-sXlLEM. That said, what is the specific problem your proposal wishes to solve?

Rehabilitation for abusers (all drug abusers, really) is a good idea, but don’t promote meth please.

Do not promote meth. I'm fine with marijuana but not for heavier shit like meth or LSDs.

The negative effects of methamphetamines are far too great, and the pool of patients that may or may not benefit from it's use are far too narrow for the Federation to even begin to contemplate considering the legalization of the substance. While it could potentially help an individual who is obese, it is not advised if that person has moderate to severe blood pressure. The risks increase if that individual has diabetes which could lead to complications of a stroke, with a possibility of death. Individuals with severe anxiety, or those who are easily agitated, could very well see those conditions worsened with the use of methamphetamines which is of no use to anyone.

The aforementioned risks are just the tip of the iceberg. As it stands, the Federation is opposed.

Methamphetamines have many good uses, most notably in the treatment of ADHD, as well as for people with some (very rare) sleep disorders. Methamphetamine is used under common legal prescription use in the United States, Australia, and Italy.

I would proudly vote for some version of international methamphetamine access.

OOC: Very much against releasing a tightly controlled drug for recreational use for any reason, but the pro-drug person is right about meth being an ADHD medication. Though addictiveness can be reduced so as to avoid non-medical use need developing.

But isn't medical use already covered by an existing resolution? I know there's one that legalises marijuana as a medical treatment (possibly, when nothing else works), and to my recollection that wasn't restricted specifically to marijuana.

Given the side-effects of both the illegal drug and the medication, I would think the medication use should be MORE controlled, rather than adding leniency in access to the drug, even if it's slightly less devastating than the illegal drug one.

We support this proposal. We do not promote the use of meth but feel that users are free to chose how they wish to live. Natural selection? Yes. In the Underworld or in Hell, ideally, you should be able to indulge in virtually...anything. So we support this based on the fact that we are infernal, demonic, and libertarian.

Finally a reasonable proposal to end the pointless war on drugs and acknowledge the many surprising health benefits of Meth. Full support, except you're going to need a category and strength/AOE, and I'm not keen on numbering things "1, 1A, 1B" just use numbers.

As someone who spent the better part of twenty years dealing with meth heads and the aftermath of them, I can say unequivocaly that this is likely the worst idea I have ever seen proposed here, and that is no mean feat.
Sarcasm dispensed moderately.

I must say that although I disagree with the use of meth. I would support the research of its benefits for those reasons involving mental health issues and to improve the understanding of the potential medicinal usage.
Like others I think the science behind this drug has been side-lined due to the "war on drugs". I would support further debate in to the topic and be active with that.

“Given the negative effects of methamphetamine, the Republic opposes this proposal. We can possibly support a proposal that permits methamphetamine solely for medicinal purposes, and would ensure that it wouldn’t be used for recreational use, but that seems to be covered by GAR#124.”
