Fallout: Scorched Earth (OOC | Char RP | Shut Down)

Fallout: Scorched Earth OOC Subforum
If you're looking for the IC page, here is the link: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=493397

War. War never changes.
On that infamous day, October 23, 2077, America was brought to its knees with countless nuclear warheads.
Within two hours, America and much of Western civilization was reduced to cinders.
Yet, war, war never changes.
Even in the ashes of nuclear devastation, America remained embroiled in a perpetual state of turmoil.
Raiders have begun to partition what little remains of Appalachia.
The Enclave toils in its bunkers with sinister designs.
And try as they might, the Free States, Responders, and Order of Mysteries struggle to maintain some semblance of order amidst the bloodshed.

Setting
Fallout: Scorched Earth is set in Appalachia in the summer of 2080, just three years after nuclear devastation hit and two decades before the arrival of the Vault 76ers. Appalachia is very much alive, brimming with raiders, mutants, robots, and scavvers. The nefarious scorched plague has yet to see an introduction (and likely for its devastating properties, it will not be introduced in this rp). The setting is heavily based around the game, Fallout 76. However, playing the game is not necessary. Though, please review the map and descriptions of prominent Fallout 76 factions below to get a better understanding of it.

**If you have any questions about the setting or Fallout lore, feel free to ask in this thread. Though, please start your post with "OOC:" to indicate you're speaking out of character.

The following link is the map we will be using.: https://randosity.files.wordpress.com/2 ... 76-map.jpg
The bright green region to the northwest and west is the Forest Region. It is relatively unscathed from the nuclear bombs, though you may see an oversized, irradiated squirrel here and there. The Forest Region is dense in fauna and vegetation, and save for a few fallen buildings, most of its structures are in tact.
South of the Forest Region is a dark grey area known as the Ash Heap. Even before the bombs, the Ash Heap was a barren wasteland. It was the site of extensive mining operations which poisoned the air and destroyed the land. Mole Miners, humans trapped inside mining suits who have grown violent and insane after the bombs, run rampant in this area, alongside raiders foolhardy enough to lay claim to it.
Cutting across the center of the map is the Savage Divide, and northwest of it, bordering on both the Divide and Forest in a similarly beige color is the Toxic Valley. Both the Divide and Toxic Valley are hostile regions where beasts such as Anglers, Yao Guai, Snallygasters, and Radscorpions commonly roam. The ground is cracked and dry, and its bodies of waters are orange-tinted, deeply irradiated, and toxic.
To the Northeast in dark green is the Mire. It is a swampy region dense in large tree canopies, tall grass, and twisting vines. Its unnatural growth and vegetation, however, was not a consequence of the bombs. In 2078, before the Free States left their bunkers and took over Harpers Ferry, the previous residents of Harpers Ferry set out to investigate Vault 94. Though they were invited into the vault with open arms by its residents, the envoys of Harpers Ferry were convinced their hospitality was merely a ploy. They thusly massacred the vault's leaders and attacked the vault's GECK. This triggered a massive nuclear explosion. The GECK expelled chemicals in the explosion which gave rise to the Mire's overgrowth and a strange, hostile, and possibly parasitic plant known as the Strangler.
Southeast of the map is the Cranberry Bog. It took its name from the colorful red flora which blankets the region. Similarly to the Savage Divide and Toxic Valley, the Cranberry Bog is home to many hostile creatures - most notably Snallygasters. Large, irradiated plants are commonplace in the region and there are several forests of irradiated trees which can assault unknowing travelers with a deadly pollen. The Cranberry Bog surrounds Watoga, a city that was touted in the prewar era as a utopia uniquely built upon the labor of robots. However, prior to the bombs falling, Watoga's robots were hacked; they became violent towards humans. Many died and the rest of its citizens were evacuated. And ever since, the city has become an inhospitable area dominated by violent and unending legions of robots.

Prominent Factions in Appalachia:
  • Raiders are rampant all about. Diehards, Gourmands, Trappers, and others continually wreak havoc across Appalachia. Some merely seek supplies through theft and sometimes violent means while others revel in the thrill of bloodshed and control. Most infamously are the Diehards led by the merciless David Thorpe and Rose.
  • Within the Whitesprings bunker is a massive vault which houses the Appalachian branch of the Enclave. After losing communications with other branches of the Enclave - deliberate sabotage by the branch's current leader - Secretary Eckhart declared himself the President of the Enclave. Under his sinister leadership, the Enclave have been plotting and toiling unbeknownst to most of Appalachia save for the Free States. Even though years have passed since the nuclear war, Eckhart still seeks to access Appalachia's missile silos and nuke what is left of China.
Factions such as the Responders, Free States, and Order of Mysteries seek to re-establish some semblance of order.
  • Based around the Forest region, the Responders are a faction of volunteers who seek to aid in Appalachia's reconstruction. To this day, they continue to recruit and train volunteers and help wherever settlers need it. The extension of the Responders, the Fire Breathers, are an elite team of volunteers who seek to help out those in the more hazardous conditions of the Ash Heap.
  • The Order of Mysteries, working in the shadows, is a sisterhood of volunteers who work under the iconic Mistress of Mysteries in thwarting raiders and mutants in an effort to aid settlers. They are based around the Rivers mansion in an underground facility that has the capacity to manufacture advanced technology designed around espionage, dapper attire, and elegant Mistress of Mystery-themed weapons.
  • The Free States are a secessionist faction founded in part by the Raleigh Clay and former Senator Sam Blackwell. The faction was founded on the idea that the government was lying to its people about the Vault program. So the Free States decided to build their own bunkers. Such fears were true when Blackwell exposed evidence of the government's sinister motives and plans for what would become the Enclave. Blackwell was eventually assassinated, leaving Clay in charge of the faction. By 2080, the Free States have left the safety of their bunkers seeking to protect and rebuild what is left of civilization in the Mire Region. Months after reclaiming Harpers Ferry, the town has grown into a prosperous hub of trade with popular routes connecting to Responders territory.
  • The Appalachian branch of the Brotherhood was based around Taggerdy's Thunder, remnants of the American military led by General Taggerdy. After establishing communications and exchanging with the West Coast Brotherhood, Taggerdy's Thunder decided to consolidate with the Brotherhood Of Steel. The Appalachian BoS has begun its own crusade against the raiders and mutants of the wastes. Though their presence and demand for supplies - bordering on blatant theft from settlers - has led to slight tensions between them and the other civilian factions.
  • The Cult of Mothman, having ties to pre-nuclear America, is a faction of zealots who dedicate themselves to the supposed teachings of the Mothman. Though these cultists hide a dangerous secret: a dormant eldritch horror known as the Interloper. Though little is known about this creature, the cultists believe it has strong connections to their deified Mothman. Convinced that Mothman will save them all from whatever nuclear devastation might bring, the cultists have amassed a large following after the nuclear war. Though they are on poor, if not violent terms with some of the civilian factions, they gladly invite everyone to join in their worship of the great and powerful Mothman.

What is the RP like? What is the central conflict?
The central plot and conflict have not yet been decided. They will be decided once enough applications have been received. The hope is that the plot and conflict can motivate all players to engage with each other naturally, even if it means competing or cooperating in relation to the main conflict.

Players can suggest plot hooks in their applications if they have any settings or scenarios they would like explored as part of the roleplay or even as the central conflict/plot.

Character Application
Please fill out the application below.

It should be noted that we are using the SPECIAL system, but there are no such things as chance-based checks. The SPECIAL system simply serves as a way to gauge the attributes of your character in relation to other players. You are afforded a maximum of 40 SPECIAL points but can use less if desired. Each SPECIAL stat must have a minimum of one point and a max of 10.

If you'd like to include a picture of your character's appearance, please put it inside a spoiler just below the "Appearance" section.

Your character does not need to be aligned with a faction. If you have an idea for a custom faction, please describe what it is. Please include details such as where the faction is primarily based in, what their intentions/motivations are, what resources they have at their disposal and relative size, and how they interact with other factions or settlers.

This roleplay is primarily character-based and it is strongly encouraged that you roleplay as only one character at a time. But NPCs are allowed and do not need an application of their own if they aren't too powerful or influential. Your character may consistently travel along with a companion, such as a pet or a human NPC.

Are Anime Pictures allowed for appearances?

What is your time zone?

Do you have a Discord account?

Anime pictures are fine. As long as it fits your character and isn't nsfw, it's all good.

I am EST.

And I do have a disc account, though I dont intend to use discord to coordinate for this rp.

Ah, so you're staying up late?

And all right. I'll try and make a character shortly. Fair warning that most of my experience is in Fallout: New Vegas, though...

Lol, no pressure! I know F76 is very unpopular and not many are familiar with the lore. The Fallout wiki is a helpful source of info and if you have any questions about the setting, feel free to ask.

Thanks. Also, just warning you in case you object, but all my characters are bisexual. Will that be a problem?

Bi representation? In my nuclear apocalypse? That is absolutely fine. Generally though, if you wish for your char to flirt or engage in a relationship, your character should be aged 18 or older and NSFW details are left out.

Understandable. I won't have my character flirt or engage in a relationship, then, but his companions will.

Also, question: How many points in a SPECIAL does it take to reach the 'average human' level? As in, how many points in Strength, Intelligence, etc, are needed to be as good as a normal person?

And finally, is there a way to gain more SPECIAL points in-game, like in Fallout 4 and 76 (I only have 4, though)?

Average is considered 5/10 for each stat. Ingame, you can increase your SPECIAL by leveling up but I dont anticipate on adding mechanics to increase SPECIAL stats.

Okay, I have to raise an issue: With only 40 SPECIAL Points, a lot of PCs will have sub-par stats in a lot of areas just to get a 15 in something. While building my character, I had to give him 1 in STR and END in order to give him 15 Intelligence, meaning he won't be able to endure a prolonged journey.

It gets even worse if 10 counts as average, because it means that with 40 points, the majority of players won't be exceptional in anything.

Can SPECIAL points be raised to 50 instead, or 10 be made the number 'exceptional/genius' again?

I think it might cap of SPECIAL categories at 10 points. So assume the max amount of points you can put in one category is 10. 5 is average, 10 is extraordinary.

Np! Glad you're taking an interest in the character building! I'm probably going to log off soon because of how late it is in my TMZ. But good luck with the character building! I hope it is enjoyable, and if you need any assistance, leave any questions you have on the thread and I'll try to answer them when I wake up.

Here goes nothin, Rodney is the character I wanna play, but I wanted to have his mother and sister available for rp and a reason for him to do as he does as long as that is okay with you. I'm perfectly fine for others to use them to roleplay as well just thought you would like any companions to have a character sheet as well.

Name:Rodney Cross
Gender:male
Age:22
Appearance:body shape and clothing facial features

SPECIAL:
Strength:5
Perception:8
Endurance:5
Charisma:9
Intelligence:6
Agility:6
Luck:1

Faction(s):Free State
Background: Rodney grew up in a neighboring region, in one of the smaller towns. Living in Appalachia, hunting, fishing, camping and what not with his family at least one weekend every month led to them being more prepared than many others when the bombs dropped. While the initial terror was not something they were ready for the family of seven persevered though their numbers sadly fell by one within the first month of this new world, his younger brother passing away from sickness that even a month prior would have been no issue for the well run medical facilities of the modern world. While the tragedy broke the family's hearts it also hardened them to the reality of their new life. Rodney's father was a veteran of war and while he initially led the small family in surviving, by the end of the first year, his gung-ho attitude and recklessness led to his death at the hands of a lucky looter with a dull bent knife. The man would be Rodney's first kill, and while it brought a small amount of closure to the young man to avenge his father, he found the act honestly pointless in the end. Again, while the loss of one of their own hurt terribly, it strengthened the resolve of the remaining family members and pushed them further than they would have gone had such a thing not happened.

Over the next two years the Cross family would be forced to move from ruin to ruin scrounging for food or when lucky surviving in the bountiful wilderness of America. Sadly the spoiled lands took their toll on the family just as illness and other survivors had and two more of Rodney's siblings would die from radiation sickness leaving only his mother Bonnie and his older sister Marie with him despite his mother and sister both having been nurses there was little they could do to save their sick family members from the wasteland's silent killer.

Within the last year the family has joined the Free Staters out of Harper's Ferry. Their survival skills as well as Bonnie and Marie's medical skills, and Rodney's higher than average tactical ability earned from his father pushing his son's into military school landed them an easier time of acceptance in their new home. Now while not necessarily leaders among their fellows the three surviving members of the Cross family are both well regarded and often considered when making group decisions.

Having become fully fledged members of the Free States, Rodney and his family now work to keep the group over all in better standing. Rodney often volunteers for patrol or guard duty and is always willing to lend a helping hand when need be for manual labor.

Companion(s): Marie and Bonnie Cross his family. (I don't really plan on doing much with them but I figured you would like character sheets for them even if they are mostly just open to be used for rp as medically skilled figures in Harper's Ferry)

Equipment: A well maintained R91 rifle that was his fathers, as well as several magazines. Old US army combat armor and clothes, though he has removed the US portion and replaced it with Free State. He also has a 10mm combat pistol that he has modded with an expanded magazine allowing it to carry 24 rounds rather than 12. Alongside this he carries with him an old US army helmet again painted with the free staters star and broken chain on the front and a large field knife and various tools for patrol in the wastes.

Name: Bonnie Cross
Gender:female
Age: 48
Appearance:https://i.pinimg.com/originals/4c/44/65/4c446503e1aa3bd8aaa2fb2fc59cb1d7.jpg

SPECIAL:
Strength:5
Perception:8
Endurance:5
Charisma:5
Intelligence:9
Agility:4
Luck:4

Faction(s):Free States
Background:Serving her country as a nurse at military hospitals Bonnie met and married her husband Jacob Cross before the couple settled down to start a family. The mother of five adored her family though she continued to pick up extra shifts at the hospital to help make ends meet and she was ecstatic that her eldest child followed in her footsteps in the medical field. Sadly, her and her daughters wishes to see Marie become a doctor were snuffed out when the bombs dropped. Thankfully the family had been together in the small family bunker her husband had been adamant about constructing. She would forever be thankful to Jacob for forcing the issue through her stubborn belief of not needing the damned thing.

Sadly, despite all her experience dealing with sickness and injury, without the proper supplies sometimes there is simply nothing she can do. Watching her youngest son slowly die from illness had been heart-wrenching and had it not been for her other children she would have slipped into a lifeless state afterward. The hard knocks for the Cross family didn't stop there, and with Jacob's murder and her eldest son Rodney hunting the murderer down in vengeance she nearly broke. Thankfully Marie helped her keep it together and the two of them did what they could to keep the family moving and healthy with Jacob no longer shielding them from the worst of their new world.

As two more of her children would succumb to the new deadly reality that they lived in Bonnie found herself hardening to a degree. No longer trusting others, after Jacob's death, and gaining a cynical outlook after her children's deaths, prior to finding Harper's Ferry and beginning again Bonnie would have likely ended it all had it not been for her surviving two children who proved more resilient to the world's woes and able to get back up when knocked down. Thankfully with a new purpose in Harper's Ferry as a medic Bonnie is starting to see the little bit of light still shining in a darker world.

Companion(s): The Cross kids, her son and daughter.

Equipment: Usually wears some simple clothes and carries a small pack of medical supplies for her job in the Harper's Ferry Clinic with only a boot knife for defense as the Free State defenses are rather formidable. However in time of combat she wears makeshift armor made from a mix of leather and scrap metal. She also carries a combat shotgun that was given as a gift when she and her children first arrived in Harper's Ferry, a sort of thank you for filling their medical needs. Over time her children have led her through modifying her favored weapon into an even more formidable tool with not only a drum magazine to give it 32 round before needing to be reloaded but a long ported and shielded barrel, a recoil compensating stock and an advanced receiver for greater control and fire rate.

Name: Marie Cross
Gender:Female
Age: 24
Appearance:https://i.pinimg.com/originals/73/67/18/736718c31ab77524d4c892414541f051.jpg

SPECIAL:
Strength:3
Perception:6
Endurance:2
Charisma:5
Intelligence:10
Agility:4
Luck:10

Faction(s):Free State
Background: Marie is the eldest of the Cross siblings, formerly of five children. She was taking the world by storm before the bombs dropped. Going to school to become a doctor, while working part time as a nurse to help pay for school she felt like she had her life all planned out. Engaged to a handsome soldier, a newly bought car, happy parents and younger siblings, Marie had everything she wanted. Now she hardly has a family let alone a happy one.

While things have definitely been better the last few months than they had for the last few years, Marie still often misses the lost life she was supposed to live. Now she lives in a world where she has to put the hunting and tracking skills her father taught her for mostly fun to use while trying to avoid being made a meal by monsters or worse by raiders. Despite this though a quiet little part of her couldn't be happier. Marie was considered pretty and smart her entire life. Now though in this ne world she is beautiful and a genius. When someone is sick or hurt, its Marie that gets called, even her mother defers to her now. The truth is Marie loves how important she is to these people, and while she would ever lower herself to be some sort of extortionist and manipulator for those in need, the idea rests there in the back of her head that she could do a lot in this new day and age.

Companion(s): The Cross family, her mother and brother.

Equipment: Unlike her mom and brother Marie is far less keen on leaving Harper's Ferry unless absolutely necessary. She usually wears a modified Vault suit she managed to scavenge from a wrecked supply truck early into the new world and with the help of her mother add some additional padding and ramshackle chain mail to help against slashes used by most beasts and raiders. Along with that she has gotten an old army helmet painted like her brothers with the free state star and chain. For weapons she packs a .32 revolver and several rounds on a bandolier.

Ah, is this what has been decided, if so I need to tweak my application.

Name: Cody Griff

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Appearance:
Image

SPECIAL:
Strength: 3
Perception: 6
Endurance: 4
Charisma: 6
Intelligence: 10
Agility: 6
Luck: 5

Faction(s): Free Stater

Background: Sterile halls, white walls, those were Cody Griff's first memories. There were other children like him, children of unusual intelligence and aptitude, yet also prone to sickness and physical fraility. As they grew older, they were taught about their origins: Designer babies created as an experiment by 'The Enclave', the legitimate successor of the United States Government. They were meant to pave the way to a new future, a way to a rebuilt America free from the shadow of communism and sedition... If their physical infirmity can be 'repaired'.

Therapies were tried, including new drugs, diet, and exercise, along with attempts to boost their immune systems. These somewhat worked, but it was different with each child, with Cody 'merely' being able to walk the halls of the Enclave's Whitesprings Vault instead of lying sick in bed. But at that time, even this was heaven. He learned, he grew, and he became adept with the Enclave's technology. But storm clouds were over the metaphorical horizon as the Appalachian Enclave began to turn against the very idea of 'designer babies' and any modification to the basic human form. And by that, there was a strong lobby urging for their extermination.

But they were not without supporters, and neither were they blind. With the help of their creators, who looked at them as their own children, they staged a breakout, a breakout which ended in most of them dead except for Cody and two other companions, who managed to hijack an Enclave Vertibird and fly it all the way to The Mire, where they crash-landed in the swamp. They would have died if not for a rescue by the Free Staters, who were skeptical of them at first, but allowed them a way to gain their trust. In time, they were allowed to live among the 'Staters, providing valuable knowledge and services to them in exchange for cash and living space.

However, they will never forget their creators, creators who had been killed by the Government they had revered. And there will be a reckoning...

Equipment-wise, Cody prefers to carry a Laser Rifle and Laser Pistol. He has spare Energy and Microfusion Cells for both.

Rodney and Co are approved! Welcome to the Free States, comrade!

I have some concerns about Cody Griff though. I like the backstory a lot and it fits well with the Enclave's and even prewar America's motivations of designing the ideal super soldier, with their best attempt at doing so being the Forced Evolutionary Virus. But I am worried about the equipment and knowledge Cody and Co are equipped with. It might be too advantageous for Cody's group to start with Enclave-issued Power Armor and for the group to have presumably forfeited a Vertibird to the Free States. Also, I think it would be fair for Cody to be able to share information of the Enclave's existence with the Free States, especially since the faction was aware of the Enclave to some degree because of Senator Blackwell, but I don't think Cody should be able to recount where the Enclave are so as to not take away from the faction's greatest strength: secrecy. Especially if another player seeks to be a part of the Enclave.

Also, just as a note of caution since both of you are using companions: while companions can be helpful to a degree, they're not meant to be greatly advantageous. They can aid in combat and other scenarios, but they're moreso meant to aid in non-combative roleplay and develop your PC as some sort of reflection.

Otherwise, both your characters are great, Dragos and Ossric! I'm excited to see what this roleplay will become. It might be best to wait on more applications, but since you both are in the Free States, feel free to engage in some light rp between each other if you'd like.

If you guys have any plot hooks you'd like to possibly explore in this rp, feel free to share.

From now on, all Out-Of-Character posts must start with "OOC:" just so the IC posts and OOC posts aren't mixed up.

Actually, would it be better if this thread were reserved specifically for OOC matters and I had a coinciding IC thread? I think it might be helpful, especially during the beginning of this rp, that we have some way of easily communicating over OOC matters.

In the past I have seen most rps use a second thread for IC I would recommend the same but it's up to you!

Most other RPs use a seperate OOC and IC threads, yes.

And as for Cody, well, we can have him lose the Power Armor, while as for the Vertibird, perhaps instead of landing it at Harper's Ferry, it crashed into The Mire and they were rescued by the Free State?

And perhaps Cody and his companions had been flying at random instead of heading straight for Harper's Ferry, so they don't really know where Whitesprings was?

Edit: Oh, Cody and his companions are already accepted. Thanks!

Sounds good to both of the above posts! I'll delegate this to an OOC thread and make an IC thread when we have enough players.

SPECIAL:
Strength: 6
Perception: 5
Endurance: 6
Charisma: 6
Intelligence: 6
Agility: 5
Luck: 6

Faction(s): US Navy, Jacksonville Sheriff's office (Both Formerly)
Background:

Born to an Army officer and his wife in the 2050s, he enjoyed a rather comfortable, if not rustic life among the military family's living around Naval Station Mayport down in the sunshine state. His childhood was rather unremarkable, only getting eventful in his teens with a few runs with the local sheriff's department for minor crimes. Looking to nip that habit in the bud, his father would sign the paper work and offer him in to enlistment at the young age of 17, with his only real choice in the matter being his chosen branch, leading to Jack joining the navy as an Aviation Intelligence sailor.

4 years serving aboard Navy carriers saw him learn a new appreciation for the military and it's aspects, though he also became disillusioned with the Navy and ultimately the US's stance in the world as a whole. Taking his leave, he went to work in law enforcement for a few years, which saw him participate in riot control operations in the southern states.

The Day the bombs fell saw him take cover in an old fallout shelter along side a group of civilians and National Guardsmen. With his country gone, his family likely dead (He could never locate them) and no real purpose, he sallied forth from Florida with as much as he could carry and headed north, hoping to see the ruins of the Old World one last time before picking out a spot to die in.

Companion(s):

Mitzli "Mitz"

Mitz was the oldest of a litter of three cubs of Panthera Onca born to the resident pair of Jaguars held at the Atlanta zoo. Likely still in her mother when the bombs fell, she was unique from her siblings and family in that she enjoyed a natural resistance to radiation, as well as the ability to shift the pigmentation of her fur to match the environment. Her parents and siblings were not so lucky, either succumbing to the effects radiation or starving. Jack found her while moving through atlanta, emaciated and starvering and took the cub in. One of the few fortunes he held in his time in that accursed city was that she had been weaned off her mother's milk and on to solid foods.

They soon formed a deep bond, traveling together and watching each other's backs. Being a rather large specimen for a female, she stands at around 30 inches from paw to shoulder, around 6 feet in length from snout to tail. Her coat is as normal a dark shade of magnum black, missing the normal spotted pattern Jaguars possess. To a limited ability Mitz can enhance her own inborn stealth by matching the shade and tone of the world around her, best used in foliage and undergrowth, allowing her to seemingly turn invisible when still and shrouded in the undergrowth.

When forced to fight, she makes use of sharp claws, teeth, and powerful jaws to quickly subdue and maul prey, preferring to operate as an ambush predator and often pounce on her prey from their blind spot. The two are fiercely protective of each other and Jack has taught her to respond to certain commands and audio calls, with her alerting him to supposed dangers with her naturally enhanced senses. She is an adept Hunter and often the reason why the two can enjoy fresh meat for dinner.

Equipment:

Clad in a set of Jacksonville Sheriff's office Riot Gear (Think Lonesome Road's Advanced riot control gear) complete with helmet and duster, he slings on his shoulder a R-91A1 Assault rifle, fitted with a padded stock and a 2.5 power optical sight. A hip holster in a "Gunfighter's" configuration holds his former police issue side arm, a S&W Model 27 in .357, though he does keep a Colt 10mm in a shoulder holster. On his belt sits a pair of AN-M14 Thermite grenades in a hard case, a combat knife, and a expandable riot baton. The front chest plate of the armor is adorned with the JSO logo and a row of magazine pouches holding spare magazines of ammo for his rifle and 10mm, as well as slots for a pair of grenades though these are currently empty.

On his back is a large National Guard issue field pack containing things like Rations, medical supplies, a stash of LSD, a non functioning Pipboy-2000 Hand held Edition. A bed roll hangs off the bottom.

Jack’s kit.

1x suit of Department issue JSO advanced riot control armor comprised off:

Heavy ballistic armor plating covering the front and back of the torso, rated to stop .308 hard tipped Armor piercing ammunition. A ballistically lined helmet rated to stop High caliber pistol cartridges and fragmentation. Said helmet is also cushioned and padded to protect against blunt force impacts and trauma.

Protection extends to the arms, legs, and feet with both soft ballistic weave and hard plates situated to allow for all round protection from hostile fire. Lastly a long duster woven out of the same ballistic weave allows for an added degree of protection that can be draped over the wearer, or used to cover nearby friendlies.

The set also features a set of attached pouches and attachment points for magazines, grenades, an external radio to augment the internal one featured in the helmet, and a mechanism inside the suit’s inner lining were it will collect the user’s sweat (And Urine, if said user is male) and recycle it in to clean drinking water deposited in a canteen attached to the belt.

The suit’s helmet includes a low light vision mode, a rebreather able to filter out radioactive particles (The whole suit itself is fairly radiation resistant by virtue of all the dense ballistic meshing and coated metallic plating) and when worn correctly, forms an airtight seal to prevent surface/dermal contamination. Said rebreather hold’s an internal supply of fresh O2 roughly lasting 15 minutes, though can be hooked into external tanks or canisters to increase this supply.

1x R91A1 Service rifle.
A common sight among the army and national guard units of the mid to late 2070s, Jacks specific R91 fits an ad hoc padded stock to render the weapons already poultry recoil almost null, and an aftermarket weaver style sight mount fitting a 2.5 power optical sight for increased accuracy at range and a match grade, chromerized barrel for increased durability. It is in good condition with a dark oak like furniture and matt grey finish. Feeding from 24 round magazines, Jack keeps roughly 120 rounds on his rig with 100 spare rounds in a small ammo box in his pack. It features a bayonet lug for which he can attach his combat knife to.

1x Colt 10mm combat pistol.
The Successor to the N90, the Colt 10mm carried by Jack is a custom piece using a mix of parts from the modern Model and the original N90. Kept short and small fitting it’s primary use as a backup pistol, the Colt feeds from 12 round magazines, of which he keeps 4 of, with a 5 loaded in the gun itself. Jack prefers to use “Federal” jacketed hollow points as opposed to the much more common Circle G hollow points. Attached to the bottom of it’s frame is a small flashlight.
1x JSO issue Smith and Wessen Model 27 in .357 Box Magnum. Also known as “The Lawman”, this infamous revolver was a staple of the rather common Southern Highway patrolmen and senior officers of the Southern Law agencies. The weapon itself is easily the most ornate thing most would see among the wasteland, a metallic blued finish meeting carved cherry wood grips with a small golden shield of the JSO embedded in each side.

Sporting match grade parts, a refined, soft trigger and adjustable sights, it is easily his most prized possession and more than a few raiders, bandits and killers have met their end at it’s barrel...both before and after the Bombs fell.

Being a revolver it feeds from an internal cylinder holding 6 rounds, with Jack preferring to load hand-tooled jacketed hollow points, with 36 rounds on hand in his gun belt for reloads.

1x Model of 2045 standard issue fighting/utility bayonet, compatible with both R and M series rifle bayonet lugs.

1x JSO Department issue “Riot Breaker” Riot baton. A hybrid Tonfa ASP style design, the main weighted portion of the batton is formed out of stamped steel with a small, weighted steel head. When used improperly, the baton is a simple blunt object, but when in the hands of a trained officer it’s capable of inflicting lethal damage. The baton is expandable, and when enough force is put behind a swing, is able to break bone and pulverize tissue. Kept on a detachable ring on his belt.

2x AN-M14C Thermate grenades.
Being an evolution of the Thermite, thermate is a metal oxide compound designed to burn at extremely high temperatures. When the pin is pulled and the spoon let go, the user has roughly 5 seconds to toss or discard of the grenade before the can rapidly heats up to several thousand degrees fahrenheit, so hot that is partially melts the can itself and is able to quickly burn through several millimeters of steel plating.

If not used as a form of fiery demolition, it can be used as a makeshift light source and or smoke screen. The reaction that the grenade gives off produces its own oxygen and can burn underwater with little difficulty.

1x US Army National Guard personal field medical kit Containing:

3x Stimpacks
3x medix injectors
3x radex packs
3x radaway packs
28x 6mm square tabs of LSD in a sealed bag.
30x Potassium Iodide pills - Anti-rad pills, older and slower acting than Radaway, but much easier to carry and much longer shelf life.
2x Field bandage

1x JSO Sargeant's shield
1x wallet with drivers licence, Navy ID Card, and Police ID badge
1x 40$ of US currency
1x 1976 mint Silver 50C coin
1x Pipboy-2000 “Hand Held” edition. An antiquated model that is currently non functioning, it has a blown capacitor preventing it from powering on. He mostly used it as a hand held music playing device with a pair of potent, but bulky headphones. He has several holotapes worth of music, ranging from classics to new wave “Cosmic Rock n Roll”.

Rather than being a model worn on a user’s wrist, the Pipboy-2000 is designed to be held in the user’s hand (Much like a modern cellular phone).

1x Silver ring with inlaid gold.
1x Hammered Silver ring engraved with a Cross.
2x US Navy issue Dog tags
5x US Army issue MCI Ration kits
5x LRP Ration Kits
1x Old, leather bound Bible, New Scofield Reference Edition
1x Old, leather bound writing journal
