General Music Discussion III

Postby Corrian » Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:27 pm

So I didn't even realize until now that the previous thread capped its post count, and got locked, so I figured I should start the next version of the thread. That last one lasted 6 years, compared to the previous one that I think barely lasted a year. It was a different time for that thread back in the day, but hey, here's to 6 more years. Even if its not what it used to be, its worth keeping this threads time alive, as there's always music to discuss and share if people are up for it. There's not really much else to say besides the fact that this is the third edition of a long going thread on music.

On that note, here's something to start you off on, aka some hip-hop. This new clipping single is really building up to another superb album by them. They're doing a similar style to their last album, but on this song its mixed with breakcore in the style of Venetian Snares and such, and even some modern classical tones. Really like this song.

I'm trying to work out how to use this chart, but I seem to be struggling to drag the albums :(

(EDIT: Found one that works better on this device)

In the meantime, have some NOLA sludge

Now I'm lowkey also wondering how in all hells you're supposed to use that first chart.
Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

I'll admit that's a problem I find with AC/DC, although it seems to work well for their fans (and it's fun on occasion), so not too much of a problem.

Just listened for the first time, didn't even know the new album was out yet.

Sounds great! Good to see Brian back as strong as ever. I must admit I'm an AC/DC fan, love their sound, in my opinion it's better that they stay the same and bring a bit of 80s rock sound to todays music scene, than change and modernize, but that's just me.

I listen to them often enough to consider myself a fan but I'm more of a casual fan. "Every album is the same" thing for me is both good and bad at the same time.

Good: I'm going to like their new stuff because it's like the old stuff
Bad: Why would I listen to their new stuff when I can just listen to the old stuff.

I've listened to Rock or Bust once and while listening to it I already knew that's the only time I'm doing to it. "Why listen to this when I can just go back to High Voltage or Back in Black

Something driving me mad, I can't remember the name of the artist or the title of a particular record. It came out in the mid 1980s and was by an American woman singer song writer. She sang and played guitar, but it was recorded outside and you could hear nature sounds like crickets and a camp fire crackling.

I posted this new thread then have basically ignored threads on this forum since, huh.

Edit: For something related, the new Health album is uh...interesting actually. There are some bizarre as fuck features on that album, but I can't help but like it. Its basically an entire album just full of collaborations.

Obviously it's because 40% (36,4% after this) posts are about AC/DC and you're not a fan :p

In other news I finally got around to listening to Chuck Berry's last album. Nothing spectacular, just straight old rock'n'roll.

.......Woah. I didn't even know Chuck Berry was making new music that late in life.
It sounds remarkably good! Especially seeing as his live performances toward the end were.. well, not the best. I've seen clips from 2010 that were actually really painful to watch.

But in the studio he still sounded really good, especially for his age!

The new update is somewhat of an improvement, although the charts are now not easy to navigate - in terms of getting from place to place.

Anyone have any opinions on the new Aesop Rock album? I thought it was pretty good and Jumping Coffin is a certified banger.

See, alt-metal has always been a personal favourite genre of mine, but I hadn't come across any interesting bands around there for ages.

Came across two yesterday, which was nice.

Yeah one of mine too, along with Visions of Bodies Being Burned and What's Your Pleasure?, Alfredo might be up there too.

Welcome to the Nekostan-e Gharbi. Our ancestors were a group of genetically enhanced Israeli cats raised by two Iranian Jewish women, Rachel Davidi and Esther Moshel. We are a constitutional monarchy where a line of benevolent and powerless feline queens “guide” the citizens or more precisely are the subject of their constant gossiping.

Current Queen: Sarah IV (House of Moshel)
Current Prime Minister: Dr. Elisheva Cohen (she is fine with Elizabeth for non-Hebrew speakers) from Likud
Cats rule; dogs drool; Israel rocks; China sucks.
Abolish China and save lives.
What is Sinostatism?
