I have received this rank medal even though my nation has never been in the World Assembly. It has never been endorsed.

Obviously, the growing number of nations means that the top% thresholds include more nations, with older ones winning when there's a tie. Indeed, Testlandia is the highest 0 endorsement nation in the ranking.

Anyway, if possible, I think this ranking should only include WA nations.

To be honest, I would support taking a look at the idea of conditional categories that only list nations that meet a certain criteria.

One of the reasons for supporting this is because I am planning to recommend an opt-out function for Z-day this year, due to the timing with a particularly nasty pandemic, and this would mean that Z-day related categories would have to be conditional as well, even if only for this year.

In the case of World Assembly Endorsements, it sounds particularly weird to get something for nothing… :p

It’s based on your ID number, and Testlandia is #1

I don’t see why it should only apply to WA nations, there are other not so fair rankings like Civil Rights and Political Freedoms

I support this, especially in the cards and WA community.
But I feel like we might have regrets later...

To me this seems to be less about the "fairness" of getting the badge and more about the absurdity giving a badge for WA endorsements to a nation that isn't even in the WA.

yeah it's kind of absurd for cards, like, i'm in the top 1%, but only because the vast majority of nations never collect cards.

It's a bit tricker to deal with than it appears, because maintaining rankings for 200,000 nations across 80 or so census scales in near-real time keeps the servers very busy. Inserting even a simple extra check in there, like whether each scale awards trophies for zero values, has the potential to create a large amount of extra load. So it can probably be done, but not easily.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe trophies are awarded during updates. What were the consequences on server load when the International Artwork stat was added? If it was minimal, I guess adding an extra check would be comparable to adding a new stat.

Trophy changes are logged to your nation during update, but calculated in near real-time.

Adding a new scale means increasing load by (very roughly) an additional 1/80th, because we're doing the same operations as before, but performing slightly more of them. That's different to messing with the actual operations that are being performed, which occur up to 500 million times per day, and magnify even a tiny delay.
