Okhhostk hosts first GE (IC/Open)

Postby Okhhostk » Sat Sep 19, 2020 8:44 am

Okhhostk would be having the first general election since its founding in 1946. Velimir, newly crowned King of Okhhostk and a pro-democratic reformer, has for the first time since the nation's establishment allowed for the forming of political parties within the nation. Now, as the nation of 5 million prepares to vote for its first Prime Minister, many parties are beginning to scramble for endorsement and support from other nations.

The King's Party

Party Chairman: Vyastka Manuchisa
Ideology: Absolute Monarchism; Nationalism; Ultra-conservatism
Political Position: Far-right
Brief Description and History: Founded in 2019 following the coronation of King Velimir, this party represents the interests of the nobles owning landed estates and titles within the nation. They oppose most democratic reforms and if elected into power, would completely remove the democratic system entirely, placing the King in a position of absolute power, but with more power given to the nobility as well.

The Liberal Democratic Party of Okhhostk

Party Chairman: Genrikh Vasilev
Ideology: Democratic Liberalism; Liberal corporatism; Classical Liberalism (Minor Faction); Social Conservatism
Political Position: Centre-Right; Centre
Brief Description and History: Founded in 2020 by Genrikh Vasilev, a lawyer and economist with very pro-free market views, the party claims to stand for human rights, democracy, and freedom of business. It is marred, however, by the fact that the party is socially conservative, and opposed to LGBT rights, as well as abortion. The party is generally supportive of less government intervention in economics.

All-Union Communist Party (Bolshevik)

Party Chairman: Stanlislov Vasimilov
Ideology: Marxism-Leninism; Stalinism; State Capitalism (Minor Faction); Authoritarian Socialism
Political Position: Far-left
Brief Description and History: Founded in 2020 by old Bolshevik and former member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Lazar Kaganovich (he died a few weeks following the founding of the Party), this party harkens back to the old, communist ideals of the former Soviet Union. It calls for nationalisation of all businesses within the nation, as well as collectivisation of farms. The party promises to not remove the monarchy if elected, however, but is generally unpopular within rural areas.

The National Progressive Party of Yakutsk

Party Chairman: Drugov Isaak Vadimovich
Ideology: Ultranationalism; Social Progressivism; Socialism (Minor Faction); Fascism (Minor Faction)
Political Position: Left-wing
Brief Description and History: Founded in 2020 by Drugov Isaak Vadimovich, the National Progressives are advocates of a strong, welfare state safeguarding the rights and living standards of citizens while ensuring that the nation as a whole flourishes. Many within this party have a strong disdain for what they view as foreigners, and wish to establish a strong Okhhostkian identity. Some even go so far as to say that Okhhostkia should expand its borders and incorporate neighbouring territories with Okhhostkian people, while deporting non-Okhhostkians, although they are often ignored.
Current Polling Values: 20.7% Support Nationwide

Okhhostkia Social Democratic Party

Party Chairman: Ryzhova Orya Leonidovna
Ideology: Social democracy; Ultranationalism; Marxism-Leninism (faction); National Socialism (faction); Democratic Socialism (faction)
Political Position: Left-wing; Centre-Left; Centre-Right
Brief Description and History: Founded in 2019 by Ryzhova Orya Leonidovna, the party runs on the platform of social democracy; i.e. the intervention of the state socially and economically within a democratic system. The party has since grown to encompass many differing views however, and remains fractured on issues of immigration, military spending and the extent of governmental control of the economy.
Current Polling Values: 30.5% Support Nationwide
