43 years before the founding of the Pan-Asiatic States, in the aftermath of the Second World War, the once-proud Sultanate of Bruneian Malaya, dubbed "the Balkans of Asia" is in a state of emergency—its races and cultures are breaking the shackles of the monarchy, and new nations are emerging from the flames of revolution. The stage is set for the ultimate showdown between the Trotskyite Bolsheviks of New Nusantara, the Sultanate Loyalists of Australia, and the Fascist "Social Republicans" of the Philippine Islands. The dream that is a pan-Malayan empire will not go silently into the night.

OVERVIEW
Malaya today, stands divided as ever - and it shall be reunited once again; the question is, under whose banner?
Once stalwart under the yellow flag of the Kesultanan Besar Malaya Brunei, Brunei's half-millennia hegemony over Southeast Asia had come to a swift end when the Co-Prosperity Sphere, led by the Japanese Empire, swept through the Malayan archipelago, gripping their claws upon the cherished resources of the orient and resurrecting the Philippine Republic under the totalitarian leadership of an ideologically-ambiguous pro-Japanese Party.
Fleeing to Gurun (known as the land "Australia" to most Westerners) in the South, the Kesultanan Besar now seeks to reclaim the Pan-Malayan empire it had lost. But the nations of the Philippine Social Republic, New Nusantara, and Irian Jaya - whose people had enjoyed a degree of self-governance under the Japanese - are no longer so keen as to allow themselves to be trampled by another century of Bruneian oppression.

The Federation of New NusantaraMalaya was once a land of vast opportunity, and promise: opportunity, for the petty barons to exploit the labor of the Malayan working-class in lung-burning manufactories; promise, for the landlords to treat men like chattel in plantations which have fed naught but the Sultan's ilk. For centuries the good-for-nothing Islamists of this land have preached the virtuous benevolence of Shariah Law - while the jackboots of imperialism were shoved down our throats.
When a general strike was ordered by the secretariat of the 23rd Workers’ Union Congress of Malaya in Singapura on December 16th of 1907 to protest the growing inequalities of this country—we saw the face of the true Malaya. Several tens of thousands gathered outside the Sultan’s palace in Kota Batu led by dozens of their own imams and ulema in order to peacefully state their demands. The Sultan’s forces - without even thinking twice - opened fire on the demonstrators, killing and wounding hundreds.
We warned the Sultan of the treacherous Japanese, but he cowered behind his appeasements. And when the time came to stand as a united front in the face of overwhelming odds - he fled. Our shores, unguarded by the Malayan fleet too preoccupied with the monarchy's evacuation, were left wide open for the so-called "Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere" to make us their slaves instead.
During those dark days of occupation by the Rising Sun, we had a good close look at what happens when these "Pan-Asianists" are put in charge. The Filipinos are dancing lackeys, shills to a military junta. Anyone with a beating heart and a vague notion of the concept of democracy will know that there is nothing at all "Republican" about their desire to exterminate those they deem subhuman. Their so-called "North Borneo Occupation Zone" is nothing more than a false pretense to sate their genocidal urges.
We have been bleeding and dying in ditches for years. Allah hasn't lifted a finger to aid us. And so when Chairman Aidit returned from the victorious workers' revolution in Europe, we knew our time had come. Knowing full well that our words were backed by Comrade Trotsky's Far Eastern fleet, we declared the establishment of the Federation of New Nusantara. Here on out, we will not be fooled by the thin veneer of religious ideology. Here on out, the syndicates will rule the fields, the assembly-lines, and the markets. From these islands, we will light the red torch of freedom across Southeast Asia - and from there, the entire world.
Go tell the Sultan: the proletarian revolution is coming home.WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!

The Kesultanan Besar of MalayaThere was a time when we reigned in a golden age of Islam under the golden banner of our Sultan. In the deserts of Gurun, that age has not yet been lost. Beyond the grasp of the traitors to the North, our faith has not lost meaning. We have been humiliated and exiled from our home. Malaya is under occupation by kafirun; and we must liberate it, eradicate the kafirun, and return ourselves to our former glory.
Malaya is our home, and it is imperative we take it back. We are the Malays, and our home is Malaya. This was where our ancestors built their nation, and where we were born. It has been taken from us by foreigners, and given up for the upstart degenerates and the lowlifes to rule. In Nusantara, a mob rules from our sacred palaces - they have turned our holy land into an outpost for Moscow to rule. In the Philippine territories, our brothers of the faith fear the impending black car that pulls over on their yard, that foreshadowing knock, and the pistol that is fired upon them for being servants of Allah. Everywhere, Muslims are being detained, silenced... or worse.
If our nation and our traditions are to live on, we must eradicate those who seek to destroy its foundations. The communists and the fascists have burnt our masjids and slaughtered our people. Our homes and possessions they have all taken for themselves. They seek to break the pillars upon which Malaya has stood upon for centuries. To ensure they will never rise again to threaten us, we must eradicate them in every tiny crack and corner they may hide in.
We have ruled Malaya in peace and prosperity for three hundred years, and it is only righteous for us to reign in glory for a thousand more. From Kota Batu we have sailed across the archipelago and spread our empire, raising the golden banners and spreading Islam wherever we went. We have established Sharia and brought upon Malaya peace and prosperity never before seen by even the Majapahit whose empire we ourselves have conquered. We have never been conquered, and we never will be.
We must restore the Kesultanan Besar Malaya Brunei. We must go North: save our religion, and restore our nation.SONS OF MALAYA, CLAIM YOUR BIRTHRIGHT!

The Philippine Social RepublicWe are Filipinos, and we have always been. In our blood runs the immortal seed of heroes – seed that flowered down the centuries in deeds of courage. In our veins yet pulses the same hot blood that sent men to fight against the Spanish invaders time and time again; and that nerved our forefathers to defy their Bruneian oppressors to the very last breath. Our people's will to struggle bent, but did not break.
President Aguinaldo, the Boy President, sent his cabinet to flee to Japan, where for the next two decades, in the halls of Yokohama, they made plans for the liberation of our country alongside our gallant allies in China, Vietnam, and Siam. The enemy of our enemy was our friend. Many at home voiced their doubts. They called President Aguinaldo a traitor: a man who had sold his country under the pretext of Pan-Asianism.
In 1942, at the vanguard of progress, in this part of the world we stood – a forlorn figure in the eyes of some, but not one defeated and lost. For, through the thick, interlacing branches of foreign habit and custom above us, we saw the light of the Rising Sun, and we knew that it was good. The following year, we finally saw the light of justice and independence, our hearts were lifted by the vision of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. The Japanese gave us freedom, when no-one else would.
Under the guidance of former President Aguinaldo, President José P. Laurel established the foundations for a third positionist government inspired by the Italian Fasces and the Spanish Falange stating "it is only in the Philippines that Social Republicanism can challenge Communism."
When the Allied powers dropped an atomic bomb on Manila, we signed a white peace with them, hoping to spare our people from further suffering. But the Soviet clamour to continue their so-called "world revolution" is strong, and we know that the time to defend our island from new invaders will soon be upon us. The so-called "North Malayans" are rabid dogs, lackeys of Moscow frothing at the mouth, eager to destroy our unique heritage. The "South Malayans" are shills to Islam who wish to once more enslave us, draping themselves in old glory as they grasp for a shred of legitimacy.
When we sailed South to secure a foothold in North Borneo, they called us hypocrites and traitors to the anti-colonial struggle. But then, this may sound familiar. Despite the stark realities of Soviet intimidation, President Laurel has never faltered. His aim has never wavered.
One day, his Pan-Asian dream might be fulfilled, and the Philippines will stand eternal in the limelight of the world.MARCH TO THE NEW INDEPENDENCE!
An Irian Jayan man guarding a principal port of his country (1945)
- The State of Irian Jaya - Also known as Papua, the Easternmost core territory of the Bruneian Empire was conquered by the Japanese Empire in late 1942 with little resistance. In the aftermath of the Second World War, democratic revolutionaries composed of disgruntled colonial army officers and civilized natives under the leadership of Simon Singarimbun, seceded amidst the political confusion in Malaya. With a force composed of less than 100,000 troops, they are vulnerable to conquest by one of the 3 major belligerents in Malaya.
- The State of Japan - The victorious Soviet Union occupied Japan with an iron fist immediately following the surrender of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. Looting, petty crime, and sexual assault became rampant throughout the country the moment Trotsky's Red Army landed from the Soviet Far East. The Japanese Communist Party (JCP) was put into power to maintain order but Japan remains a nation of deep civil strife, with some believing that appealing to the USSR for their independence may be the only way forward; and others, mostly disenchanted Zaibatsu leaders and military officials, believing that only a coup-d'etat can save Japan. Many believe that the answer will largely depend on whichever faction Emperor Hirohito chooses to favor.
- The Kingdom of Siam - The failure of the 1932 revolution marked a relative era of stability for Siam in the years leading up to the Second World War. This ended when the country was forced to concede defeat following the nuclear annihilation of Singapura, whereby the Siamese lost much of their territories to the Federation of New Nusantara and the Union of Burma. King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), rules over his humiliated territories in old age, with Soviet military strength nominally being the deciding factor in national policy. It is likely that he will pass on the crown to his nephew, Ananda Mahidol - but until then, the fate of the nation remains largely unknown.
- The Democratic Republic of Viet Nam - Bảo Đại, the last surviving member of the Nguyen Dynasty, realizing the situation on the frontline was dire, prepared to surrender to the allies in August of 1945, stating "I would prefer to be a citizen of an independent country rather than Emperor of an enslaved one". This surrender would never happen, as on September 29 of 1945, a nuclear bomb would completely obliterate Saigon and take, among many others' lives, the Emperor's. Control of the vast territories of the old Empire was placed under the rule of Ho Chi Minh, a member of the Viet Minh, who had both popular and the Soviet Union's support. Reactionary elements fight a guerilla war against Communist forces in the jungles of South Vietnam, but are unlikely to take back the country from the Communists without external military aid.
- The Reorganized National Government of China - During the Second World War, Wang Jingwei (nominally in control of the Chinese Republic), brokered a non-aggression pact with the Japanese to fight a unification war against the remaining warlords of the Zhili Clique in Western China. As the last surviving state that had signed the Anti-Soviet Pact, it is likely that the Soviet Union will exert influence through an old rival, an upstart revolutionary that has established a base area in and around the mountainous region of Shanxi: Chairman Mao Zedong of the Communist Party of China.
This is part of a series of PT RPs that aim to build the history of the years leading up to the creation of the Pan-Asiatic States.
Since the events are predetermined, your objective isn't to win; but to craft a compelling story. Have fun!

Faction Name: The Japanese Chamber of Commerce (Philippines)
Which major nation will you nominally a part of? The Philippine Social Republic
Brief Description of the Faction: A collection of politicians and lobbyists with all the trappings of a political party, the JCC represent the interests of Mantetsu, and sometimes other Japanese Zaibatsu, in the National Assembly. Their actual ideological positions vary, some believing that cooperation with the Japanese is ultimately in the Philippines' best interest, while others are more resigned to a fate of subservience, and a significant portion subscribes to the Pan-Asian principles promoted by some Japanese. The JCC, while viewed by a substantial portion of the population as morally corrupt, nonetheless receive a reasonable amount of support from Mantetsu employees and enough from the corporation itself to ensure their place in government. Because Mantetsu leverage in the Laurel government is largely maintained through the JCC, at least without the use of politically inconvenient methods, its relative power in government is a good indicator of Japanese influence in the Philippines.
What does your faction attempt to accomplish in its involvement? That the PSR remains loyal to Japanese economic interests to aid in the recovery of the Japanese economy post-WW2
